My Tamed Beast Returned with a Dragon Chapter 5 - The Baby Who Fell from the Sky

Author: Asternkm

“My present?”

Eunsae tilted her head in curiosity.

Woori grinned playfully.

“It wasn’t easy to get.”

When Eunsae took the item from Woori, her eyes widened.

She could tell immediately that it was no ordinary object.

Woori smirked, clearly pleased with the reaction.

“It’s an S+ grade Poison Purification Bracelet. Wear it all the time.”

“How did you even get this? There aren’t any in Korea.”

“It was auctioned off in Japan. As soon as we got wind of it, I had a guild member place a winning bid.”

“The price must have been insane.”

Eunsae looked uneasy.

“After everything you’ve done for the guild, this is the least we can do.”

“Woori…”

She was touched.

Whenever her friends showed her this kind of unexpected kindness, it filled her heart with warmth.

Without hesitation, Eunsae threw her arms around Woori.

“I’ll use it well.”

For a moment, Woori stiffened at the sudden hug.

Then, slowly and carefully, they returned the embrace.

“Please do.”

Eunsae immediately slipped the bracelet onto her wrist. Whether it was just her imagination or not, she felt her body relax slightly.

Then, Woori’s expression turned serious.

“We have the results of the investigation.”

“Did you find the baby’s parents?”

“No. There are no records of a baby with sky-blue hair and golden eyes being born in Korea.”

“What? That’s impossible!”

Eunsae’s voice rose in disbelief.

“I thought the same thing, so I had them recheck multiple times. But the results were always the same.”

“Hah… so they really did fall from the sky.”

Eunsae’s gaze naturally drifted toward the baby’s room.

“So we’re looking into… unofficial birth routes.”

“If that’s the case…”

Eunsae’s expression darkened.

There were many reasons why someone might give birth at an unregistered, illegal clinic.

An unwanted pregnancy. A child born to someone without legal status.

If that was the case, then the baby had been abandoned.

Who could possibly abandon such a sweet, gentle child?

“If we can’t find the parents…”

“I don’t want to think about that yet.”

Eunsae cut Woori off before they could finish.

Right now, she didn’t want to consider that possibility.

“…Alright. I’ll make sure no information about the baby gets leaked.”

“Please.”

Eunsae had a bad feeling about this.

Whatever the truth was, it wasn’t simple.

Woori studied Eunsae for a moment, then gave a small nod.

“How’s the guild?”

Eunsae changed the subject.

Woori smoothly followed along.

“Same as always. Gold Star Guild is stirring up trouble, and we’re ignoring them.”

Gold Star was the second-ranked guild in Korea, heavily funded by the Geumseong Group.

They had an intense rivalry with Dochun Guild—though, in reality, it was mostly one-sided hostility from Gold Star.

They were desperate to surpass Dochun, to the point that they would use any method necessary.

Sol, in particular, despised Gold Star because of that.

“They’ve been lobbying the Association, but we’re keeping an eye on them. It’s nothing to worry about.”

“Still, don’t let your guard down.”

“I won’t.”

Woori took a sip of coffee, then glanced at Eunsae.

“The ranking tournament is coming up soon. You’re not participating, right?”

“Yeah. Even if I wanted to, I can’t because of the baby. I’ll just cheer from home.”

As of now, Korea’s top three ranked hunters were:

  1. Han Woori (1st place)
  2. Namgoong Sol (2nd place)
  3. Yoo Eunsae (3rd place)

Eunsae, the world’s only Monster Tamer, was only ranked third because she didn’t care about rankings.

After all, there was no one in the world who could replace her.

And strictly speaking, her own combat ability wasn’t as high as her ranking suggested—it was her magical beasts that were overwhelmingly strong.

“If things get tough, let me know. I can send people to help, or we can bring the baby to the guild.”

“It’s fine. My beasts are helping a lot. But if you need help, just say the word. I can send Dandelion or Haneuli your way.”

“…Eunsae.”

“Hm?”

Woori hesitated.

There was something they wanted to ask.

“Are you happy with your life right now?”

But in the end, they didn’t.

Instead, they forced a small smile.

“Never mind. Next time, I’ll bring the others with me.”

“Sounds good.”

Eunsae smiled—warm and gentle, like spring sunlight.

The baby’s eyes fluttered open.

Darkness. Silence.

Feeling a pang of hunger, the baby was about to cry—but then, something warm and soft licked its cheek.

“Awoo?”

It was Jojjo, loyally keeping watch like a faithful hunting dog.

The baby finally realized it wasn’t alone.

From experience, the baby knew that the giant, fluffy creature was no threat.

“Kyarururu!”

Giggling, the baby grabbed a handful of Jojjo’s fur, squeezing and releasing it.

Encouraged, Jojjo licked the baby’s face even more enthusiastically.

“Maaah!”

At Jojjo’s small cry, footsteps approached from beyond the door.

It was Eunsae.

“Did my baby wake up?”

The baby’s golden eyes darted toward the voice.

Gentle. Warm.

A voice that always brought comfort.

The baby knew she would soon be held.

Instead of crying, the baby patiently waited.

Just as expected, Eunsae carefully scooped the baby into her arms.

Instinctively, the baby took in her scent.

Familiar now.

Reassuring.

Not cold. Not damp.

Not like before.

The baby smiled.

Eunsae smiled back.

“Oh? Someone’s in a good mood today. What do you want? A toy? Or food?”

The baby smacked its lips.

Recognizing the cue, Eun-ae carried the baby into the kitchen.

“Just lie down for a bit, okay?”

She spread out a soft mat in a spot where she could keep an eye on the baby.

Golden eyes followed Eunsae’s every movement.

As the baby lay there, magical beasts began to gather.

Jojjo. Baekhap. Hwangsae.

Even Cookie, the elusive unicorn, made an appearance.

Surrounded by eager onlookers, the baby was too excited to remember its hunger.

It grabbed Baekhap and started swinging the snake around.

Meanwhile, Eunsae boiled water and measured out the formula.

As she mixed it, she began humming absentmindedly.

“Mm, mm~”

The baby recognized that sound.

Along with the soft humming, it memorized everything—

The lighting. The temperature. The rhythm of the ticking clock.

The bubbling of boiling water.

This place…

The baby liked this place.

“All done!”

Eunsae turned back with a bright smile.

“You waited so patiently without crying. Such a good baby!”

The baby didn’t understand most of the words.

But it did understand one thing—she was praising it.

“Kyah! Kyah!”

“And a good baby deserves food, right?”

Eunsae kissed the baby’s forehead before bringing the bottle to its lips.

A satisfying fullness spread through the baby’s body—something it had never known before.

“Hic!”

“What a strong little one.”

The baby loved everything Eunsae gave.

A warm home. A gentle touch. Constant attention.

“Awoo. Aaang.”

“Look at that full belly. Should we take a bath later?”

Eunsae nuzzled the baby’s tummy, her voice as tender as ever.

The baby grasped her offered finger tightly.

Wanting this moment to last forever.

Belquior traced the remnants of the baby’s presence.

At first, he had assumed someone had stolen the child.

He had searched the entire continent.

But the baby was nowhere to be found.

That left only one possibility—

The baby had left the nest on its own.

Belquior expanded his magic.

His golden eyes, their pupils narrowing into slits, revealed faint, fragmented threads of energy.

Like scattered paw prints, the remnants of the baby’s magic led beyond this world—toward another realm.

The Outer World.

Visitors from the Outer World, known as Outlanders, appeared in this land from time to time.

So the existence of another world was not unfamiliar to him.

But…

“How?”

Had the baby been drawn to something?

Belquior detected another lingering trace intertwined with the child’s magic.

Something different from mana.

A power that did not belong to this world.

“Could this be…”

The force that had lured the child away?

If it was strong enough to pull in a dragon, then it was a force to be reckoned with.

Belquior’s expression turned cold.

Golden magic surged around him, forming intricate geometric patterns.

A spell activated.

Following these traces would lead him to.

“Who did this… and why.”

With a flash of brilliant light, he vanished.
