Kill Your X Chapter 107 - EXTRA END.

Author: nicotine

“Hey, what are you doing!”

With some kind of confidence, he brought his face close to mine in that state. That was the limit of my patience. The very moment I was about to kick the chair leg to push him away.

Grrr….

“Huh?”

Woof! Woof woof!

“Agh! You crazy son of a bitch!”

Jjing-jjing-i, who had been passed out on his back just moments before, lunged at him in the blink of an eye. The spirit of a wild beast shone through as he bit down hard on the man’s shin and refused to let go.

The man twisted his body every which way to get Jjing-jjing-i off, but it was no use. Jjing-jjing-i wouldn’t easily release the prey he had caught. The more the man tried to push him away, the more tenaciously he clung on.

“Gyujin! Help me. This damn thing, quick, ugh, aaack!”

This time, Jjing-jjing-i bit his hand like a frisbee flying through the air. As blood finally started to show, I belatedly intervened.

“Jjing-jjing-i. Come here.”

I didn’t know how to stop him, so I just did what I usually do, and it worked. Jjing-jjing-i, who had been on the verge of tearing his prey to death, came running to me at my single command. He rubbed his head against my hand as if seeking praise, showing off his gentle eyes. His tail, about the size of an adult’s finger, spun like a propeller.

“Wow, what the…”

He sat collapsed on the floor, panting. I said, while stroking Jjing-jjing-i profusely.

“I didn’t mention it because it’s so obvious, but no matter how gentle Jjing-jjing-i is, he won’t stand by and watch someone try to harm his owner.”

The reason I put strength into my voice was that I was fully conscious of the presence I felt behind me. A cool presence that dominated the space just by being there. Since we lived skin-to-skin every day, I could now recognize it clearly even with my eyes closed.

“Crazy, when the hell did I try to harm you?”

“I guess it looked that way to Jjing-jjing-i. You were the one who kept hitting on me even after I clearly stated I have a partner. Even making unwanted physical contact.”

Holding the puppy in my arms, I delivered my final declaration.

“I’m sorry, but I can’t let you adopt him. Bill me for the hospital fees at the cafe later. I hope I don’t have to see your face again.”

I thought he’d say a few more words, given his personality, but he didn’t. Seeing his gaze shift behind me, it seemed he also noticed there was a third party in this space. It was obvious what kind of aura the spectator was exuding without even looking.

He spat out a short curse, grabbed his bag, and left the cafe as if he were fleeing. I roughly wiped my face with my hand at the incident that had unfolded in the blink of an eye.

There’s still some homework left.

“If you were here, you should’ve made your presence known earlier.”

I didn’t have the courage to turn around and just stood still, but he strode over and stood next to me. He slowly looked around the inside of the book cafe, and his gaze stopped on the CCTV camera on the ceiling. He pointed one out with his finger.

“That thing, can you link it to my phone so I can check it in real-time?”

“Don’t even think about it. This is a space where other employees work besides me. It’s an invasion of privacy for you to peep without a clear purpose.”

“I do have a clear purpose. To monitor Sunbae so he doesn’t do anything foolish.”

A snort escaped me at the very Seo Seunghan-like remark. I glanced to the side, but surprisingly, he didn’t look angry.

“Since when were you here? Why didn’t I hear the door open?”

“I came in through the back door. I heard you talking to that guy from the middle of the conversation.”

“Did you hear me say I have a partner?”

“Yes.”

My mind was at ease now that my innocence was established. But Seo Seunghan immediately threw a wet blanket on it.

“But your words lacked sincerity. That’s why that person didn’t believe you either.”

“Are you kidding me?”

As I raised my voice, the puppy in my arms whimpered. I put Jjing-jjing-i down on the floor and faced him directly. Seo Seunghan continued speaking without a change in expression.

“I’m not kidding. Sunbae, you have a nasty temper, don’t you? If you’d put your mind to it, you could have conveyed your intentions much more clearly to that person. But you didn’t.”

The nuance was as if I had intentionally left room for the guy. Besides, a nasty temper? Of course, I know very well that my personality is strange, but hearing it from his mouth hit quite hard.

“Seunghan. There were unavoidable circumstances. It’s because you didn’t hear the story from the beginning.”

I earnestly explained that the man had approached me with an interest in adopting Jjing-jjing-i, and that even though I knew he was subtly making moves, I couldn’t be firm because I was afraid the hard-won adoption opportunity would fall through.

“It’s already been a few weeks since we started living together, but you still don’t really like Jjing-jjing-i. I thought it would be a nuisance to keep the puppy in this situation. I was getting anxious because not a single person had shown interest in adopting, and then that bastard had to show up… Seunghan?”

He was looking somewhere other than at me. When I followed his gaze, I saw the puppy in the corner, gobbling up his food.

“Let’s just raise him ourselves.”

“What? Really?”

As my face lit up, he seemed slightly reluctant.

“I’ve changed my mind. I thought he was just clueless, but he seems to distinguish friend from foe quite well. If we train him well, he’ll earn his keep.”

I was surprised by the unexpected change in his attitude. It seemed that attacking the guy who confessed to me had left a rather strong impression on him.

After finishing his food, Jjing-jjing-i tilted his head from side to side and approached us. Seo Seunghan lifted the puppy’s front paw and examined it carefully. Compared to his still-small body, Jjing-jjing-i’s paws were definitely on the large side.

“You said he would grow to the size of a medium-sized dog, right?”

“That’s what they said at the vet.”

“To protect Sunbae, it would be better if he were bigger, so that part is a bit disappointing.”

He said while stroking Jjing-jjing-i nonchalantly. Unaware of the conversation going on, Jjing-jjing-i was just excited to be getting attention from Seo Seunghan.

“Seunghan. I’m really grateful that you’ve made such a big decision and given your permission, but you know that Jjing-jjing-i is a household pet, right? His top priority is to play and eat comfortably at home and be loved by his owner.”

“Wouldn’t one person, Sunbae, be enough to dote on the dog? I’ve told you before, if you both do it, he’ll just get spoiled.”

Even though he said that, the way he looked at the puppy was distinctly different from before. I was happy about the change and wore a pleased smile, which made him glare at me. I could feel so many emotions from his gaze. It was obvious at a glance that this wasn’t something that had built up in a day or two.

“This all happened because Sunbae isn’t mean enough.”

“I admit it.”

“Can’t you just act like a sociopath outside too?”

“I thought it was just my imagination, but you’ve been making personal attacks every chance you get lately. What’s wrong with my personality?”

As I showed signs of getting genuinely annoyed, Seo Seunghan pretended not to hear and got ready to go home. Finding that cute, I suddenly hugged him from behind. I could finally breathe comfortably, feeling the sense of stability from his broad back.

“You’re wrong.”

“About what?”

“My personality became like this because of you. It’s all because you accept me. Why is a person so kind and cute?”

“I’ll only admit to the first one.”

Applying the words I had just used, he handed me the dog’s leash. I watched him start the car remotely, and a deep sense of satisfaction filled me. To think that something I couldn’t have imagined just a few hours ago had become a reality.

“Let’s go now.”

“Where to?”

To my deliberately posed question, Seo Seunghan replied as if asking why I was asking something so obvious.

“Our home.”

“Okay. Let’s go.”

I held his hand and opened the door to go outside. Even the slightly humid night air felt lovely.

Seo Seunghan, who had lived his whole life wandering from base to base like a nomad, now naturally speaks of our home. Our home, where you and I, and now a cute puppy, are all together.

After changing the plan from temporary foster care to lifelong care, Jjing-jjing-i was renamed to the similar-yet-different name Kking-kking-i. This was due to Seo Seunghan’s firm insistence that Jjing-jjing-i was his.

He was mostly in charge of Kking-kking-i’s training. To call it training was a bit of a stretch; it was just going for walks in the morning and evening. He didn’t seem to take particularly tender care of him during the walks, but Kking-kking-i seemed to like the long walks that exhausted his energy, and his affection for Seo Seunghan grew day by day. It seemed he didn’t mind the blind loyalty either.

One dawn, I woke up for no reason. Looking at Seo Seunghan sleeping soundly beside me and Kking-kking-i at my feet, a thought suddenly occurred to me. I don’t have to look far; maybe the essence of happiness is simply having nothing weighing on my mind.

“Sleep well. My little rascals.”

Seconds after burying myself under the covers, I fell asleep again. I was happy, and happy again. So much so that I dared to wish for eternal life, defying the will of the heavens.
