Demian died after screaming and suffering in agony, crumbling into dust.

Dana snorted. Did he really think I wouldn’t know he’d go after the holy relic? She lived with him as his wife for ten years. That’s why she knew what kind of person he is better than anyone.

Demian was a cowardly man who could betray her and break his promises as much as he pleased, just to feed his own desires. There was no way a man like that genuinely wanted forgiveness. He had never cared about anything like forgiveness. That fragment was being created because he wanted to possess her even after death. Even his claim that he wanted to be forgiven was nothing more than an excuse called forgiveness, created so that he could deny his own baseness to himself.

He really was disgusting right to the very end.

Dana reached toward the dust he had left behind. She casually brushed aside the amber jewel she had given Demian, the one he believed to be a holy relic. It was actually a cheap trinket she had bought during one of their outings. From underneath it, a black earring rolled out. Dana picked up that earring. He didn’t even realize the holy relic I gave him was fake. Idiot.

The real holy relic was still lying on the floor of the altar, wrapped in the faint contamination she had left behind. She had planned to take it after everything was over. To take it after dealing with them.

Dana turned her head. Then she saw the people who were standing there, utterly dazed as they watched the spectacle.

“W-What on earth…”

The priests of Somora were flustered.

“Uuh, what the? What is going on?”

“Ah, my head.”

And the twins, who had only just regained consciousness.

“…You, what on earth are you?”

And Ingria, who had gone completely pale.

“You…. What did you do to Adma?”

Dana thought they were pathetic. Why were they just standing there watching? They could at least try to run away. Well, it wouldn’t have mattered. As long as they were on Godom Island, I would have caught them anyway.

Dana gave them a gentle smile. And then… “Everyone.” She detonated the black core. “Weren’t we playing tag?”

With a sudden rush, black smoke burst out of the earring like an explosion. Instead of letting it escape outside, Dana absorbed it into her body. It was her first time doing it, but instinctively, she knew. I can do it.

Just as expected, the contamination seeped obediently into her body. It melted into her warmly, like sunlight. Dana smiled foolishly as the energy filling her up felt as satisfying as receiving a blood transfusion.

It felt good. It felt unbelievably, wonderfully good. Perhaps it was because midnight had already come, bringing with it the hour of madness. Or perhaps…

“I killed Adma Rolland, the tagger who caught me.”

It was because ‘her turn’ she had been waiting for all this time had finally come.

“Then I suppose it’s time for the tagger to change, isn’t it?”

One step. As she stepped forward, the contamination spread across the ground in ripples like waves.

“Isn’t it?”

One step, then another. With every step she took, the contamination surged in like clouds. Her black hair, swaying behind her and now dyed completely pitch-black, looked like the wings of a demon.

“I think it’s my turn to be the tagger now.” Dana chuckled softly, her eyes gleaming black.

Shock, terror, fear, disbelief, and every other emotion churned before her eyes. Those seized by primal fear, as though they had witnessed a being that had risen from hell, could not even scream.

Dana offered them one last kindness. Gently, she pointed toward the door. “What are you waiting for? Hurry and run.” Then she laughed like a child and shouted, “This time, I’m the tagger!”

“Aaaah! Please, please!”

“Save me, please!”

Somora’s Grand Temple was transformed into a scene of utter pandemonium. Every step Dana took was destruction, and every breath she drew was death. There was no escape. The contamination spread as far and wide as she wanted, spreading farther and farther like waves.

“Si-Sister! Sister Danaena! Please spare me!”

Since when did I become your sister? This little prince.

“I-I was wrong! I-I only obeyed Father and Sister Ingria! They said it was the duty of the Aren royal family!”

Don’t make me laugh. You enjoyed it more enthusiastically than anyone. Dana did not answer. She merely blew out the contamination that had seeped into her body, as though blowing away dandelion seeds.

“Ah, aaaah!”

The twins of the Aren royal family, touched by her breath, crumbled into dust.

“Spare me! P-Please spare me!”

The guards were no exception. They had not directly participated in the ritual, but in the end, they were part of the same group. The last words left on the wall had also recorded the guards’ atrocities. Apparently, they had caught those trying to escape, tormented them in extremely cruel ways, and then killed them.

“You want me to spare you?”

“Y-Yes! Please, please!”

Dana tilted her head to the side. Her black hair smoothly spilled over her shoulder. “When they begged you to spare them, did you listen?”

Every one of the victims had left words on the wall like a final testament.

Someone, please, someone, avenge us.

Take bloody revenge on the people of Godom.

Bring despair to the priests of Somora.

Was that why? It seemed as though the vengeful spirits of the victims she had seen earlier in the vision were cheering behind her.

[Make them taste even more fear! Fear more extreme than the fear I tasted!]

[Let them tremble in fear and die, wahahahahaha!]

She was more than willing to oblige.

“You killed all those people who begged and pleaded for their lives, after playing with them to your heart’s content, didn’t you?” Dana spoke with a serious expression. “So shouldn’t it be fair that you also have to beg and plead before you die?”

And so, countless priests rotted to death. Even the sorcerers’ spells were useless. The moment their magic touched her body, it dispersed into rotten smoke.

“Ah, Somora, Somora…”

The last surviving priest shed tears. Having nowhere left to run, he crumpled himself tightly into a corner of the wall and trembled.

“Somora, please, please grant me salvation, Somora, please, Somora, Somora!”

“Oh dear. Somora this, Somora that. You’re noisy.” Dana looked at the priest with annoyance before smiling sweetly. “Actually, I’m Somora.”

“Ah, aah, Somora! Please save me from the hands of the devil!”

“Oops, you caught me. Actually, I’m the devil.”

“Uaaaah!”

Driven mad with fear, the priest slammed his head against the wall again and again. Dana was beginning to get bored, so she lightly tapped the floor with her toe. The contamination then flowed along the floor, spreading and swallowing the priest’s body.

“Aah, please! Please, save me, I’m sor—” Those were his final words. The priest rapidly rotted away, all the way to the tip of his tongue, and finally stopped moving.

Finally, that pig-slaughtering scream was gone. Dana rubbed her throbbing ear and turned around. Who’s left now?

Everyone in the Somora’s Grand Temple was dead. Anton Rolland had been nowhere to be seen from the beginning. Then there was only one person left. Ingria.

Dana knew where Ingria was hiding. Even if she had not wanted to know, Ingria’s panting was far too loud. Ingria was crouched at the end of that hallway, behind a massive pillar.

Dana deliberately sighed as though she could not find her. “Aah, where could Ingria be? Did she run away?”

She could hear Ingria covering her mouth with her palm, trying to suppress her sobs. Her body trembling all over with terror could be felt by Dana too.

Dana quietly walked toward the pillar on tiptoe, toward the place where Ingria was trembling. Then she suddenly poked her face around it. “Found you!”

“Kyaaaaaaaah!” Ingria shrieked and recoiled. Her expression was so desperate that Dana was startled and stepped back. “Kyaaaaaah, kyaaaah, kyaaaaaah!”

“Ingria. Calm down.”

“Kyaaaaaaaaaaah!”

“Oww. My ears hurt.” Dana wasn’t joking. It felt like her eardrums were going to burst.

“Kyaah! Kyaaaah!”

It seemed Ingria had been so terrified that she had lost her mind. Dana found it both amusing and pathetic. They had been gleefully doing this for so long. But now that the positions were reversed, they could not maintain even the slightest shred of dignity.

“Ingria.”

“Kyaaaaaaah!”

“If you tell me where Anton Rolland is, I’ll let you live.”

At those words, Ingria’s screams abruptly stopped. Then she immediately opened her eyes wide. “Really?”

Dana gave a small laugh. As expected, this woman is not ordinary. “Yes. Where is Anton Rolland right now?”

“H-He is…” Ingria bit down on her lip, then finally spoke in a cracked voice. “With Rumie now.”

“What?”

Rumie is here? Impossible. Rumie should have gone to suppress the riot. But the words that followed were even harder to believe.

“Probably in the bedroom.”

“…”

“In the bedroom… The two of them should be together.”

What kind of nonsense is that?
