Gasp! Even Sister Dana comes out. She follows closely behind Brother Viego.

Allice ran through the hallway, chasing the scene visible through the window. However, they soon disappeared around the corner of the hallway.

Where are they going? Don’t tell me. They’re not going to Brother Viego’s room, are they?

Allice hurriedly moved to the hallway where Viego’s bedroom window was visible. A moment later, the light in Viego’s bedroom turned on. There, she saw Dana’s silhouette. Oh my gosh! But then, swoosh! Viego pulled the curtains shut as if they were about to have a secret meeting.

Allice was so shocked that she slumped down on the spot. What? What is this? What is even happening?! At that moment, the trashy romance novel she had read earlier came to mind. The plot was exactly the same. They even secretly met in the bedroom in that story!

Allice didn’t know what was going on, but she couldn’t keep this to herself. She then rushed off. “Mom!” It was Sandra’s bedroom.

Sandra, who had been sleeping, asked groggily, apparently unaware that Allice had even left earlier. “Mm, hmm? What is it?”

“Sister Dana and Brother Viego!” Gasp, gasp. Allice panted heavily, beaming from ear to ear. For some reason, she couldn’t contain her excitement. “They secretly sneaked into the bedroom without anyone knowing!”

* * *

“What is this?”

Inside Viego’s bedroom, Dana’s face turned serious. Inside the black-and-white photograph, there was a picture of a book with a rather familiar shape. That was…

“He said it’s the original copy of the scripture.” Viego sat on the edge of the desk. “Ignis de Windsor gave it to me just a while ago.”

“…”

Click, Viego lit the lighter. Tilting his head slightly, he lit the end of the cigarette, furrowing his brows as he inhaled deeply. Then, exhaling a sigh of smoke, he spoke. “He even showed me what he claimed was the original scripture. This photo was left as a form of blackmail.”

Ah…” Dana let out a small sigh. So that’s why he’s so irritated. Ignis must have threatened him too. Ignis probably threatened Viego verbally during the day and then brought the actual scripture to show him at night. That’s why he came to see me despite dressing like that.

Dana hadn’t noticed because of the confusion before, but Viego was in his sleepwear. He wore a long black silk robe and black slippers. Moreover, his platinum-blond hair, which he always slicked back with pomade, was now naturally falling across his forehead. There was even the faint scent of soap wafting from him… It was the first time Dana had seen him looking so disheveled. He must be quite shaken up too.

Though it felt strange, Dana asked calmly. “What is written in the original scripture that’s causing this reaction?”

“It says the moon goddess is a demon,” Viego smirked. “In other words, it’s proof that my father was a fraud.”

“Do you believe this original scripture is real?”

“I don’t know,” Viego muttered with furrowed brows. “Whether it’s real or fake doesn’t matter. If it’s made public, people will believe it’s real.”

There had recently been a human-sacrifice incident in Kaltusa. If this scripture was made public, the Windsor family would have no honor left to speak of. They would be remembered as demon worshippers who had deceived the entire continent.

Dana let out a deep sigh. “So?”

He’s going to tell me to get married now, isn’t he? Dana steeled herself. If he really forced her marriage to Ignis, then she wouldn’t go easy on him either…

“Do you know anything?”

“…Pardon?”

“My father found a copy of the scripture on Treasure Island. And he handed over most of what he found on Treasure Island to you.”

Huh? Dana’s eyes widened at the unexpected remark. Why isn’t he bringing up marriage? Could it be that Ignis hadn’t told him about that?

Of course, Viego’s statement was true. Demian Windsor had handed over to Dana not only what he found on Treasure Island, but most of his fortune as well. He even left me the navigation chart to Treasure Island.

The unknown island discovered by Demian Windsor. There was even a conspiracy theory that the Windsor family had fabricated an absurd place called ‘Treasure Island’ to launder money they had earned illegally. But whatever the truth was, it was certain that an island existed where enormous quantities of gold coins were piled up.

Dana was the only person who knew its location. Since Demian had handed the navigation chart to Treasure Island exclusively to Danae Windsor, the chart was now safely sleeping inside her secret vault. That was why Viego was asking whether Demian had handed her anything else besides the navigation chart.

“No. He didn’t give me anything related to the scripture.”

“…So that means you don’t know anything about the scripture.”

“Yes.”

After that, Viego silently looked at her with unreadable eyes. It was a gaze that was difficult to decipher.

Why is he looking at me like that? Could he possibly know that I made a deal with the emperor using the scripture? No, that couldn’t be. The only people who knew about that were Lethe, her secretary who had brought the scripture, and the emperor, who was the other party to the deal. Viego was probably just asking to make sure.

Dana quietly watched him as he continued smoking. Didn’t Viego Windsor quit smoking…? Things must have been complicated enough for him to start smoking again.

Dana was certain. This very moment had to be the greatest crisis of Viego’s life.

Right. The Windsor family could even be wiped out. Which meant… If I help him here, it means he’ll trust me even more, right? This is a good opportunity, isn’t it?

Suppressing her smile, Dana carefully approached him. “Brother, don’t worry too much. I believe that scripture is a fake.” Because the real one was given to the emperor.

Dana gave him a confident smile. Then she told Viego exactly what he most wanted to hear at that moment. “If it turns out that scripture is fake, then there won’t be any problem, right?”

“…” With the cigarette between his lips, Viego stared at her silently. Then, a moment later, he nodded.

“I’ll find a way to prove it’s fake.”

A moment later, he asked slowly. “How?”

“That’s…”

“Before that.” Viego closed his eyes for a moment, then opened them again. “I’d like you to move a little farther away.”

Huh?”

“Have you ever heard that I hate the scent of lily of the valley?”

Ah.”

“That scent is practically emanating from your body.”

At those words, Dana was flustered. My body smells like that?

“…”

Feeling extremely awkward, Dana took two steps backward. But Viego gave another little nod, as if telling her to move farther away. She took two more steps back. Only then did Viego seem able to breathe more easily, drawing deeply on his cigarette as if trying to erase the scent he hated.
