Actually, It’s a Messy Melodrama Chapter 93
“Huh?!”
Haeshin almost dropped his phone on the floor. It was because the bell suddenly rang while he was seriously agonizing over whether or not to press the call button.
A bright smile played across Haeshin’s entire face. The caller was Han Taejun.
“Mr. President!”
—Whoa, you startled me.
Because he had called out bluntly as if shouting out of joy, Taejun answered in a surprised voice. Regardless, Haeshin said what he wanted to say.
“Why did you call?”
—…What. Are you unhappy that I called?
“No, no. It’s not that, I was just about to call you too!”
—Is that so?
Taejun’s voice sounded a bit excited as he asked back, making Haeshin let out another laugh. When he imagined that Taejun might have also been racking his brain and agonizing over whether to call or not, just like him, he felt the man was endlessly cute.
Lately, Haeshin had been feeling more and more that Taejun was cute. It was a strange feeling, as he was a man whose face, height, and build had no reason to look cute at all.
“Are you about to sleep now?”
—Huh? Uh, well… How is your mother?
“She fell asleep early, perhaps because she was tired from the examination.”
—And did the conversation go well?
“You know, I explained that I truly happened to help Mr. President by chance, and thanks to that, Mr. President ended up helping me?”
—Uh-huh.
“But I don’t think Mom believes it.”
—I wouldn’t believe it either if I were her.
When Taejun answered with a hint of a laugh, Haeshin pouted his lips. To be honest, he didn’t think he would believe it either if he were in his mother’s position, but it was still draining since she didn’t believe him despite him talking so solemnly.
“Still, if I keep explaining, she’ll eventually believe me. I’m a reliable son, after all.”
—I’m sure you are.
Even at Taejun’s seemingly sarcastic reply, Haeshin gave a silly laugh. He could tell without needing an explanation that it was just an affectionate joke.
—Um… Cha Haeshin.
It was at that moment the atmosphere of the call changed. It was because Taejun’s voice, which had been light until now, suddenly became heavy. Haeshin, whose smile also vanished from his face, shrugged his shoulders slightly.
“Yes, Mr. President.”
—About your mother not believing you.
“Yes.”
—Well, if she sees me in person, wouldn’t your mother feel more at ease?
“…Pardon?”
Haeshin asked back with a frown. He didn’t quite understand what the sentence ‘if she sees me in person’ that Taejun spoke of meant.
—Actually, I…
“…?”
—Ah, damn, this is really embarrassing. Actually, I’m in front of the house right now.
“The house? Which house?”
—Where else could it be? The house you’re in right now.
“Ah….”
Haeshin stopped for a moment with his mouth open like a robot whose circuits had been cut.
In front of the house. If she sees me in person. The house you’re in.
The words Taejun spoke broke into pieces and circled around Haeshin’s ears.
“In front of the house?!!”
And when all the information was finally organized and lodged in his head, Haeshin sprang up from his seat and ran toward the entrance. Is it a joke? Is Taejun playing a prank on me right now? Even while doubting, he couldn’t help but be caught.
After several clumsy fumbles, he finally managed to open the front door and was about to run straight toward the elevator when Haeshin suddenly came to a thumping halt because of a person blocking his path.
A large, firm hand caught his body, which was staggering from the sudden braking.
“Careful now.”
The face snapping a blunt nagging with a worried expression was the face of Han Taejun—someone he hadn’t dreamed of imagining he would see here, right now.
“Ho, how are you here….”
Haeshin asked with a dazed expression. Still, to think he would really be in front of the house at this hour. He couldn’t easily believe it even while seeing it with his own eyes.
“Just….”
Taejun toyed with the hair on the back of his head with an awkward face. Since he had done this so impulsively, he couldn’t even think of a proper excuse.
To be honest, Taejun had intended to just go back. When he came to his senses, he had arrived in front of Haeshin’s new house, but he had been worried that Haeshin might feel burdened by this side of him.
He had planned to go back quietly as soon as he finished the call, once he confirmed that Haeshin was safe and without trouble.
However, Taejun realized another side effect of love. It was clearly his own mind and his own body, but they wouldn’t listen to him at all.
Once he heard the voice, he naturally wanted to see him more; when he heard that Haeshin had also intended to call him, his heart naturally swelled; and when an excuse happened to arise with the talk of the mother, he couldn’t stop his mouth from blabbing away of its own accord.
“I was just worried if you were okay….”
“Ah….”
“Maybe it’s because we were together every day and then suddenly apart. I think I missed you, too….”
Even right now, it was like this. Taejun really wanted to give a reason that was more mature, plausible, and not so dramatic. So that Haeshin wouldn’t feel burdened.
But Taejun’s mouth was listing his messy sincerity in great detail, regardless of such will. I’m screwed. Screwed. Taejun let out an internal sigh.
“Sorry. Do I… seem a bit like a stalker right now?”
Still, he should have endured this kind of ridiculous talk no matter what.
“This is driving me crazy.”
In the end, Taejun raised a hand to cover his eyes and lowered his head. His face was burning and he was so embarrassed that he couldn’t meet Haeshin’s eyes. It was the first time he felt like he had become such a pathetic person.
This was the kind of behavior that would be wearisome even if done to an ordinary person. Furthermore, Cha Haeshin was someone who had already been hurt countless times and even died due to someone’s obsession.
To show such behavior to a person like that. The more he thought about it, the more he felt like he had committed the worst possible act, and he was filled with regret.
“Pfft…!”
At that moment, a light laugh poured over Taejun’s head like salvation. When Taejun reflexively raised his head, Haeshin was looking at him with one hand covering his mouth. The beautifully curved corners of his eyes did not look like he was fed up with Han Taejun or afraid of him, no matter how one looked at it.
“Are you… alright?”
Taejun asked as if possessed while looking at Haeshin’s expression. He was so nervous that his heart was thumping and even his legs were shaking. As if trying to reassure such a Taejun, Haeshin, who let out a laugh with a lovely face, opened his mouth.
“Why do you think I ran out the moment I heard Mr. President had arrived?”
“Uh…?”
“It means I was just as glad that Mr. President came.”
“Ah….”
Taejun repeated opening and closing his mouth like a fool. In the meantime, Cha Haeshin, who looked much smarter than Taejun, subtly grabbed Taejun’s wrist and continued his words.
“I didn’t know… but seeing Mr. President in person, I think I missed Mr. President too.”
In the midsummer, Taejun felt Haeshin’s hand touching his wrist so hot that he couldn’t stand it any longer.
“If it’s okay with Mr. President… would you like to stay the night here today?”
The heat Haeshin transmitted rapidly traveled up Taejun’s arm and spread to his heart. Is this why people call love a fever? Taejun couldn’t breathe properly.
☂️
“Mr. President, aren’t you uncomfortable?”
“I’m not uncomfortable.”
Taejun answered Haeshin’s question without even a second of hesitation. The two were currently lying on a single bed with their bodies pressed tightly together.
“I could just sleep in the other room….”
“No. It’s really not uncomfortable at all.”
“You look extremely uncomfortable, though….”
“I said I’m not.”
Of course it was uncomfortable. Taejun had never slept in a single bed in his life. Since the bed provided in Haeshin’s room was a super single, it was on the spacious side compared to a regular single, but it was woefully insufficient for two adult men to lie on.
But Taejun stubbornly said it wasn’t uncomfortable. The situation where Haeshin went to another room alone out of consideration for him was the truly ‘uncomfortable’ situation for Taejun.
“Come closer this way. You’re going to fall off.”
Taejun lightly pulled Haeshin, who was clinging to the edge of the bed for his sake. Even in this situation, the fact that they were doing this, insisting on sleeping in one bed, felt romantically ridiculous.
The fact that Haeshin was also lying by his side even while enduring this discomfort made Taejun’s heart flutter. He could feel through his soul that he and the other man were becoming exceptionally close.
A silence where only each other’s breathing could be heard flowed for a moment. Rather than embarrassment, there was excitement; and rather than discomfort, there was simply an atmosphere of becoming excessively conscious of each other, and Taejun liked this moment.
“Mr. President.”
It was at that moment that Haeshin suddenly called Taejun and swung his body around, which had been turned away.
Their eyes met unexpectedly, and Taejun realized the distance between Haeshin and himself was close enough to feel each other’s breath.
Facing Taejun, who was so nervous he couldn’t even answer, Haeshin spoke.
“Lately… I think about our relationship often, Mr. President.”
Today, when he encountered Taejun unexpectedly in front of the house. When he saw him worrying about whether he might look bad to him, Haeshin felt an impulse to tell him all of his honest feelings.
He didn’t want Taejun to worry anymore about whether he looked like a stalker or whether he was giving Haeshin a sense of burden or pressure. He didn’t want Han Taejun to be intimidated because of the memories that someone like Jin Youngmin had left on Haeshin.
Taejun is not a person who should be like that. He was that precious and dear to Haeshin. So Haeshin decided to be impulsive and express his heart a little more.
