SHEOL CITY
nicotineSynopsis
Lee Youngshin lives at the end of a world teeming with “those things.” One day, Youngshin hears the clamor of “those things” prowling nearby. Holding onto the hope that it might be traces of another survivor, he explores the surroundings and encounters another survivor, Lee Hongyoung.
“To think I’d actually meet another person, I can’t believe it.”
Unlike Youngshin, who is elated with the anticipation of meeting a living human, Hongyoung, the survivor, makes it clear without hesitation that he doesn’t need companions but wouldn’t mind a man to satisfy his desires.
“They’re beasts starving for lust. They don’t care if it’s a woman or a man. A man would be quite welcome, you could say. …If you’re going to die anyway, wouldn’t it be fine to try it once? Nothing to lose.”
Repulsed by Hongyoung’s words, Youngshin gradually finds himself drawn to the man’s indifferent yet strangely gentle demeanor. Eventually, he sets out with Hongyoung to find a new place. While facing “those things” that charge to tear into human flesh, Youngshin also encounters the basest instincts of humanity, even worse than the creatures. Through this, he begins to realize the true meaning of survival—
“There’s not a single sane person left among the survivors. Even I’m like that. Now I can only think of one thing. …You.”
