Resurrection Chapter 132 - I’m Saying Let’s Date

“Huh, what the?”

“Who are you guys?”

“Are we on the same side?”

What was interesting was that once they saw each other, they were surprised and bewildered among themselves. Seeing them murmuring, Kang Cheoljun realized that there were two groups of guys surrounding him, and that they had attacked him without coordinating with each other.

Their purpose was the same as Kim Jewoo’s. They had all flocked here after hearing the intel that Kim Yitae had appeared, only to find out he had already left. But then they spotted Kang Cheoljun and figured that the Special Task Force would know Kim Yitae’s whereabouts, so they were in the process of trying to capture him.

The problem was that there were many competitors. Taking advantage of the moment they were surprised by each other, Kang Cheoljun attempted to escape. But even in his nerfed state, Kim Jewoo was not to be trifled with.

He rained down arrows, and one of them grazed Kang Cheoljun’s ankle. It must have been an arrow with a special function, as his leg immediately froze. Kang Cheoljun, who had been running toward another building, fell.

Kang Cheoljun fell into the alley between buildings. Fortunately, despite falling from quite a height, nothing was broken. In addition, Kim Jewoo, who should have immediately pursued him, was quiet. To be precise, he was loud. It seemed most of the arrows Kim Jewoo had fired had hit the other guys positioned on the rooftop, and a fierce battle had broken out between them.

Realizing that Kim Jewoo was caught up in that and couldn’t move, Kang Cheoljun tried to run away on his frozen leg. It would have been more effective to use a potion if it were just an injury, but since his leg was frozen solid, treatment wasn’t easy.

It had become a situation where it was difficult to escape using skills. A few were dealing with Kim Jewoo, but several others chased Kang Cheoljun and jumped down from the building. They blocked the path in front and behind him and applied an even stronger debuff. Knowing that Kang Cheoljun was in no condition to escape, they rushed him all at once and restrained him.

Kang Cheoljun gave up on pointless resistance and said.

“Sorry, but I don’t know where Kim Yitae is either.”

At those words, one of the guys holding him shouted.

“You think anyone’s gonna believe that! Where’s Kim Yitae?”

Kang Cheoljun sighed.

“So, what the hell are you guys going to do once you find Kim Yitae?”

“That’s for our clients to worry about. We just need to find Kim Yitae and hand him over.”

Kang Cheoljun belatedly noticed that these guys weren’t looking for Kim Yitae to benefit from Resurrection. They were mercenaries, and they were looking for Kim Yitae on someone’s request.

An Awakened who knew a thing or two wouldn’t have hired guys like this. It was probably an ordinary person, someone with money and power, who was coveting Kim Yitae and his Resurrection out of personal greed.

If so, this guy probably wasn’t that desperate to find Kim Yitae either. It was easy to guess what a battlefield the fight to possess Kim Yitae would be. It was a war that one couldn’t join unless they were exceptionally confident in their skills. For riffraff like these who moved on others’ requests, just taking the advance payment and pretending to look for Kim Yitae was a profitable business.

If that’s the case, then they weren’t the problem. The problem was Kim Jewoo, who was likely up there. He was no riffraff, so Kang Cheoljun had to get out of here before he showed up.

Kang Cheoljun had no choice but to take out his weapon. He didn’t enjoy using weapons, but since he was nerfed, his skills were useless anyway, so this was his only option.

Just as he was bracing for a bloodbath, the air around him suddenly changed. A thick killing intent enveloped the area, sending a shiver down his spine. At the same time, a cry that resounded thunderously in his ears could be heard.

Awooooooo—

The mercenaries flinched at the long-tailed howl and looked around. Kang Cheoljun, who had also lifted his head, saw shadows appearing silently from all corners of the alley.

Every one of them was enormous, as if they had chugged steroids by the bowlful. Just looking at their massive shoulders, it wasn’t hard to guess their identity.

They were none other than werewolves.

Kang Cheoljun recognized the A-Team members among them. A familiar figure appeared, parting the way between those stepping forward. Normally he should have been happy to see him, but that wasn’t really the case. Feeling only a faint sense of relief spread through him, Kang Cheoljun said his name like a greeting.

“Yoon Younghyun.”

Even among the already large werewolves, Yoon Younghyun’s presence was unparalleled. The circlet on his head, which sat perched like a boulder, emitted a projected light. Yoon Younghyun looked at Kang Cheoljun and gave a greasy wink.

“Were you waiting?”

Kang Cheoljun didn’t particularly feel like answering. As if he hadn’t expected a reply either, Yoon Younghyun gave a nod of his head and said.

“Wipe them out.”

At his command, the surrounding werewolves poured into the narrow alley all at once. The battle that followed was not just one-sided, but downright dull. There was no need for Kang Cheoljun to even lend a hand, so while screams echoed around him, he looked Yoon Younghyun up and down and said.

“It doesn’t seem like we were separated for that long. You’ve changed a lot.”

Yoon Younghyun shrugged his Pacific Ocean-like shoulders and acted arrogantly.

“Of course. My status has changed, after all.”

Kang Cheoljun didn’t point out that he had likely raided a place Min Gongchan had already emptied. He didn’t bother to mention the fact that he had become the lord of the lycanthropes. Instead, he asked about his purpose.

“Are you also here to find out Kim Yitae’s whereabouts?”

“Nah. You said you don’t know anyway, right?”

“Then why did you come here?”

“I came to repay a debt.”

“A debt?”

“You saved my life before. I’m here to repay that debt now.”

Yoon Younghyun said, grinning. Inside his opening mouth, an unusually large tooth glinted.

“So take out the bug inside my stomach.”

Hyeopjukdo-gil was engulfed in a rare silence. This was because due to the monster break alarm, all ordinary citizens had headed to shelters, and an operation ban had been issued for all businesses except essential facilities.

Hyeopjukdo-gil, with its brilliant holograms gone, was not just dreary, but desolate. The worn-out signs and buildings, aged by the passage of time, were laid bare, reminiscent of ruins.

The interesting thing was that all the ability-control devices installed in the area were turned off. Thanks to that, I was able to easily teleport to the meeting place, but I wasn’t particularly grateful for it. Park Gyu’s ulterior motive for turning off the ability-control devices was obvious.

Park Gyu would know every detail of what Heesoo hyung went through in the demon den. He might have even gathered information and know the inside story in more detail than the people who were in the demon den. In order to find that out, I had walked into Hyeopjukdo-gil of my own accord, knowing that Park Gyu would try to pull something.

I nonchalantly stepped on the paving stones carved from luminous stone and headed toward Nowhere, where Park Gyu’s office was. Graciously, Park Gyu himself had come out to meet me in front of the fountain in the middle of the three-way intersection. Seeing me, he waved his hand as if genuinely pleased.

“What brings a famous celebrity to see me?”

“What reason would there be to see an information broker? It’s because there’s something I want to know.”

“I don’t think this is the right situation for you to come see me. Rumors that you’ve appeared have already spread like wildfire. There was quite a commotion in front of Ulfheðinn’s holy ground. Why on earth did you go there?”

Cutting off his words as he subtly tried to fish for information, I got straight to the point.

“Why did Heesoo hyung break up with the White Goddess?”

“That guy’s your partner. Why come all the way to me for something you could just ask him directly?”

“Shut up and just answer.”

Park Gyu shrugged his shoulders at my pressing.

“If you come to an information broker to ask something, you have to offer a price. What are you going to give me?”

“The circumstances under which I acquired Resurrection.”

“You think I don’t know that already?”

As soon as Park Gyu found out my secret was Resurrection, he would have looked into how I obtained it. He probably also knew how Yaksha had found out that fact.

As if I had expected it, I nodded my head and said.

“That’s right. I got Resurrection from a skill book. But you don’t know where and how I got that skill book, do you?”

My Resurrection is not an ability that originated from the Golden Emperor. I already possessed the ability of resurrection when I met him. It was because of Resurrection that Yaksha kidnapped me and dragged me to his base, and it was there that I met the Golden Emperor and was chosen by him.

I obtained Resurrection through a skill book that one day fell from the sky. With skill books, once you got your hands on one, you could acquire the skill written inside regardless of the god you served.

They were supposedly created with the intention of allowing people to freely use various types of skills without being restricted by the abilities of their main god, but these days they were treated as collector’s items. This was because skill books themselves were rare, and even if one got their hands on one, it often contained something useless. In such cases, it was better to sell it to collectors for a high price rather than acquiring the skill oneself.

Occasionally, there were cases where a fairly powerful skill was written, but even then, acquiring it was only worth considering if it had good synergy with one’s own abilities. If you were a magic type and acquired a crafting skill, or a healing type and acquired a curse skill, it was also better to sell it to someone who wanted it.

Even if you obtained a book with an extremely powerful skill written in it, whether to acquire it or not was something to be cautious about. In the end, all abilities stem from one’s own capabilities based on the Awakened system. A skill so powerful that it would instantly drain your HP or MP and put you in a blackout state was useless even if you acquired it.

Even if you acquired it for the future, by the time you reached a level where you could use such a skill freely, you wouldn’t necessarily need that skill anymore. It was more effective to sell the skill book and become rich, or to buy equipment, items, or another skill book that you needed right away.
