Resurrection Chapter 30 - Call me your boyfriend

Author: nicotine

“Did he undergo possession?”

As I experienced before, possession leaves significant aftereffects. Above all, it shortens one’s lifespan. No one knows how long it will take for Heesoo hyung to reach max level, but if he undergoes possession every time I’m in danger, his body won’t hold up.

If I had known this would happen, I should have just made an offering!

He told me not to use Levatein because he didn’t want me to get scarred, yet he’s the one undergoing possession!

I gritted my teeth and turned my attention to the lizardman shaman.

It was clear that the shaman’s fighting spirit had drastically waned after the chieftain’s death. Its grip, which had been holding onto my magic sword, weakened, and I thrust the sword deeper into its body, twisting it forcefully.

The lizardman shaman let out a “Kkik” sound as it died, and I pulled my magic sword from its corpse. While I was grappling with the shaman, the hundreds of lizardmen gathered at the scene began to scatter in all directions.

As Heesoo hyung had predicted, once the chieftain died, they quickly gave up fighting.

Of course, their surrender didn’t mean the battle was over. Heesoo hyung, transformed into a berserker, fiercely pursued the lizardmen. Though they were agile enough to run on water, Heesoo hyung chased them down with ease.

“Slash!”

Boom!

When he swung his greatsword at the swamp, it exploded. I had seen him use Slash before, but this time its power was doubled.

The lizardmen caught in the Slash were reduced to exploded lizard corpses. Even those who escaped the direct attack were knocked down by the aftershock, some even having their heads smashed by rocks jutting from the swamp bed.

That should have been enough, but Heesoo hyung didn’t stop. Perhaps because of the possession, he mercilessly slaughtered the lizardmen. He cleaved heads with his greatsword, broke waists with his foot, and ripped out spines with his hands.

“Kiii!”

“Kyaah!”

“Kigigik!”

The lizardmen lost not only their will to fight but were also gripped by fear. They collided with each other while fleeing, tripped over their own legs, and fell. Unable to escape properly, they seemed out of their minds with terror.

Truth be told, I was scared too.

From the moment Heesoo hyung underwent possession, a chilling aura of fear dominated the surroundings. If I had felt such fear in a dungeon, I would have fled without looking back, abandoning hunting or anything else. Only a monster that preys on other monsters could exude such fear.

Heesoo hyung killed every last trembling lizardman that had lost its will to resist. He crushed the head of the final living lizardman under his foot.

After wiping out the lizardmen, the surroundings fell deathly silent. Even the thick fog seemed to scatter in fright, leaving the area wide open, with lizardman corpses littering every visible spot. The swamp, stained with their blood, took on an eerie blue hue, and severed or torn limbs rolled around like pebbles.

To think I’d ever feel pity for monsters in my lifetime.

Stunned by the gruesome scene, I saw Heesoo hyung whip around toward me. When his blood-red eyes met mine, my breath caught, and I choked.

“Hic!”

As hiccups absurdly erupted, he trudged toward me through the mud. I tried to stop the hiccups, but if they were under my control, they wouldn’t be hiccups. My chest heaved violently until he reached me.

“Hic, hic!”

I wanted to close my mouth, pound my chest, or bend over to stick out my tongue to stop the hiccups. But facing Heesoo hyung, drenched in the blue blood of lizardmen, I couldn’t move a finger. I was gripped by the delusion that he might harm me too.

That’s when it happened.

Heesoo hyung grinned.

“You okay?”

I blinked.

His lively and casual tone was out of place for the situation. With anyone else, such words might have been reassuring, a sign of sanity, but because it was Heesoo hyung, I couldn’t feel that way.

Heesoo hyung wouldn’t speak to me so informally or in such a light tone. Confused about what was happening, I tilted my head, and he tapped my cheek as I stood there dumbly.

“You sure you’re okay?”

Startled, my shoulders twitched, and I hurriedly answered.

“I-I’m fine…”

To my surprise, the hiccups had stopped. Perhaps because they ceased, my thoughts began to clear.

His attitude was like Heesoo hyung but not quite. The logical conclusion was that the possession was ongoing.

Narrowing my eyes, I dared to ask.

“Are… are you Lord Wolfheddin?”

Smiling broadly as if affirming my question, he kneaded my cheek.

“Looks like you’re fine.”

He roughly grabbed my chin, turning my head this way and that to inspect me. Swaying under his touch, I was utterly confused. It seemed to be Wolfheddin, but why wasn’t he leaving?

Possession places a tremendous burden on the human body, so gods typically don’t linger long even when they descend. Like when the Golden Emperor possessed me, they fulfill the requested task and leave quickly.

But for some reason, Wolfheddin showed no sign of leaving and casually examined me. Thinking that Heesoo hyung must be suffering immense pain during this, I shook off his hand and said.

“Aren’t you going to leave?”

At my question, Heesoo hyung… no, Wolfheddin blinked.

“Oh, I should go.”

His response clearly misunderstood my words. Suddenly, he bent down and hoisted me over his shoulder. Shocked by the unexpected abduction, I let out an “Eek!” and flailed, but he held my legs with one arm and said.

“Hold on tight.”

👑

Wolfheddin sprinted at full speed to the dungeon’s entrance. While he ran like the wind, I, hanging upside down over his shoulder, was on the verge of vomiting.

I didn’t vomit only because I’m an awakener; an ordinary person would have already drenched his back with vomit.

When Wolfheddin set me down, the world spun around once. I staggered with a pale face, and Wolfheddin caught me. Reflexively, I shook off his hand and said.

“I didn’t mean to leave the dungeon. I meant why hasn’t Lord Wolfheddin left?”

At my bold words, Wolfheddin suddenly looked pitiful.

“Do you dislike me?”

I gasped. Hearing such words with Heesoo hyung’s face made my heart ache with guilt, as if I’d said something cruel to him. I hurriedly explained.

“N-No, it’s not that I dislike you.”

Realistically, it wasn’t wise to offend the god who chose Heesoo hyung. The Golden Emperor’s hostility toward me was already exhausting enough. Thinking I should at least try to get on Wolfheddin’s good side, I added cushioning words.

“How could I dare dislike Lord Wolfheddin? You accepted our Heesoo hyung as your first and only apostle. I’m just worried that Heesoo hyung is suffering due to your possession. Since we’ve escaped the crisis, it would be best if you could leave now…”

“What if I don’t want to?”

“What?”

I was utterly baffled.

Don’t want to? Why? Even from a god’s perspective, staying in the cramped vessel of a human body shouldn’t be pleasant.

As I struggled to respond, he stepped close, wrapped his arm around my waist, and pulled me in.

Our bodies pressed together, and the sensation was completely different from Heesoo hyung’s. Though Heesoo hyung was naturally tall and broad, his time in the demon’s lair had left him gaunt. I used to joke that he’d blow away in the wind and tried hard to feed him well. His body temperature was low, his breathing weak, and I’d often checked under his nose while he slept to ensure he was still alive.

But now, Heesoo hyung’s body felt filled to the brim. His expanded muscles made him seem larger, and his entire frame was as solid as stone.

His high body temperature and brimming strength and vitality made me feel slightly intimidated. Moreover, the primal, masculine energy surpassing that of a man made me deeply uncomfortable.

Squirming under his grip, I said.

“P-Please let go.”

Ignoring my resistance, he tightened his hold on my waist and leaned his face closer.

“What if I want to stay like this with you a bit longer?”

“You’re joking too mu—mmph!”

Suddenly, our lips met.

To be precise, they collided rather than met.

Shocked, I opened my mouth wide, and a fiery sensation surged in, startling me. Reflexively tensing my entire body, I pushed against his chest with all my strength.

What?

He didn’t budge!

“Mmph… mm!”

As I resisted, he wrapped his other arm tightly around my back. Trapped as if caught between rocks, I squeezed my eyes shut.

I had no idea what was happening, but I couldn’t just let this happen. Bracing for Wolfheddin’s wrath, I bared my fangs.

Quickly sensing my reaction, he pulled his lips away. Shuddering in his embrace, I stumbled back a few steps.
