It felt like someone had smacked me on the back of the head—I suddenly opened my eyes. I sat up, staring at the familiar black ceiling above me.

A large bed. A familiar space. My own room.

Had An Bom and Choi Tae-hyuk carried me back here? But why were they even there?

☆That Was Awesome! has donated 100 Mana Stones.☆

I didn’t know you could unleash that much power. As expected of a high-ranking god. The supreme god must be pleased.

☆Well-Raised High-Ranking God has donated 100 Mana Stones.☆

Even more impressive is that you used divine power in a human body. A well-raised high-ranking god—no need to envy the supreme god.

I expected my body to ache after forcing out that much power, so I moved carefully—but unlike the time I was hospitalized, I actually felt refreshed.

I must have slept for another three days.

My first thought was of Yun-seo. Had she gotten any better?

“Kaak! Guild Master! You’re awake?!”

At the sound of something dropping, I turned my head. An Bom was rushing into the room.

As she checked me over, Choi Tae-hyuk, Gumiho, Ji Yun-seo, and even Saphi all ran in after her.

Their expressions were so serious I felt oddly embarrassed, so I waved a hand.

“You were that worried? I’m fine…”

“Fine?! Do you know you’ve been unconscious for an entire week?!” Gumiho snapped.

“Huh? A week? I thought it was just three days?”

“Uncle!”

“Kyuu!”

Ji Yun-seo and Saphi threw themselves into my arms, both crying.

Holding them, I looked up at Gumiho, who let out a heavy sigh.

That sigh… it sounded just like my boss from before the regression whenever I messed something up.

“You’ve been unconscious for a whole week,” Gumiho repeated.

“Me?”

“Yes.”

So that’s what made An Bom drop the towel and basin.

Choi Tae-hyuk picked them up, set them on the table, then came over.

“Excuse me.”

He took a thermometer from the bedside table and placed it in my ear.

Who would’ve thought the same thermometer I used on Choi Tae-hyuk would end up being used on both Ji Yun-seo and me?

No wonder they say you never know what the future holds.

“36.7 degrees Celsius. Normal temperature,” Choi Tae-hyuk reported.

Everyone let out a collective sigh of relief.

Why? Why did they all look so relieved? Just what happened while I was out?

“Guild Master, you vomited blood fourteen times,” Choi Tae-hyuk said.

I knew I had vomited blood… but even here?

☆ThoughtItWasKetchup has donated 100 Mana Stones.☆

You were vomiting blood so much while lying there, I thought you’d turned into a fountain.”

“And your fever went over 40°C,” Choi Tae-hyuk added.

“Even though Bom kept healing you nonstop for two days, your condition didn’t improve. We were really worried.”

I panicked thinking I’d have to start all over again. Don’t get sick, Aether.

Who even are you? Start over from the beginning? I’m not going through regression again! And how is this even a donation message?

I seriously want to block every god who sends things like that.

“Uncle, don’t die!”

“Kyaaa!!”

The cries of Ji Yun-seo and Saphi filled the room.

Wait… so you’re telling me I had a fever over 40°C and vomited blood fourteen times over the course of a week?

That’s terrifying. The fact that I’m still alive… even more unbelievable.

“Every time you vomited, Choi Tae-hyuk took care of you, and Bom kept healing you. That’s how you survived. What on earth happened in that dungeon?”

“Well…”

Growl—

Everyone’s eyes turned toward me as my stomach loudly reminded us all that I hadn’t eaten in a week.

An Bom wiped away her tears and left the room, while Choi Tae-hyuk sat down in the chair by my bed, thermometer still in hand.

Seeing him sitting there felt strangely familiar. Had he been watching over me the whole time?

I patted Ji Yun-seo and Saphi’s heads with both hands.

“Sorry for worrying you, Yun-seo. Uncle was just… sleeping…”

“Guild Master, you vomited blood four times in front of Yun-seo,” Choi Tae-hyuk said flatly.

‘So much for the excuse of “just sleeping.” Thanks for that, Choi Tae-hyuk.’

Then… what should I say?

Both Ji Yun-seo and Saphi were staring up at me, pressed close together. Did they become friends while I was sick? Since Ji Yun-seo is a tamer, it actually makes sense. I patted her head again.

“It was just a little sickness. I’m fine now. No need to worry.”

“…Really?”

“Yeah. Is Yun-seo feeling better now?”

“Yeah. It doesn’t hurt anymore.”

It looked like everyone had taken good care of her while I was out—her cheeks were plump, her clothes neat. She finally looked like an ordinary child again.

“Let’s eat first.”

An Bom returned with a tray of porridge—half water, half rice grains. Right now I felt like I could chew through steel… and this is what she brought me?

“You haven’t eaten anything for a week. If you eat solid food right away, you’ll get sick. Start with porridge.”

I hate porridge. I didn’t even eat it when I was sick before. I want rice. Meat.

When you’re sick, meat is what gives you strength.

“Go ahead and eat. Bom might not look it, but she used to be in med school before she quit.”

“I want meat…”

“Yun-seo, it seems Uncle doesn’t have the strength to eat by himself. Can you feed him?”

“Okay!”

An Bom smiled at me as Yun-seo quickly climbed out of my arms.

No, that’s not what I meant. Uncle wants meat.

But Yun-seo, oblivious to my thoughts, cheerfully scooped porridge with a spoon and held it up.

“Uncle, ah—”

I hate porridge. I really, really hate it… But how could I refuse when such a tiny little one held the spoon up to me? Too cute.

“Ah.”

The porridge was seasoned and a little salty. I ate it spoonful by spoonful as Ji Yun-seo fed me. Before I knew it, the bowl was empty.

Just when I thought I could eat more, it was already gone.

“If you’re not giving me meat, at least give me more porridge.”

“No, you’ll upset your stomach if you overeat,” An Bom said firmly.

“I’m fine. I could chew iron right now.”

“I’ll give you more at dinner. For now, lie back down,” An Bom replied.

“Even if I get a stomachache, An Bom can just heal me, right?”

“Guild Master, Bom hasn’t had a single day off this past week while healing you,” Gumiho said with a glare.

Deflated, I slouched against the bedframe. I was starving, though my stomach hadn’t even started growling.

“Now, lie down and rest,” An Bom said.

“I’ve been lying down too long already. I don’t feel like doing it anymore.”

Despite everyone’s concern, my body felt surprisingly fine. Her healing worked like a tonic. Honestly, I should get her to do it more often.

“Then please explain what happened,” Gumiho pressed.

“The dungeon info you gave me came from the Kanghyeon Guild, right?”

“Yes, that’s correct.” Gumiho nodded.

Since it was a dungeon they personally managed, could this have been deliberate? Was it done under orders from their guild master, Yeon Do-jin?

“The paperwork said it was a sand dungeon, but when we entered, it turned out to be a snow dungeon. And Guild Master Yeon Do-jin was already inside.”

“What? Guild Master Yeon Do-jin?”

“Yes. The moment we met, he rattled off details about Yun-seo—who isn’t even registered yet—brought up clearing the ant nest, the dungeon break incident… and then challenged me to a fight.”

“How could he know Yun-seo is S-rank…! Wait—Guild Master, were you the one who defeated the ants?”

Gumiho frowned, then her jaw dropped.

“Yeah. Didn’t I say I was self-made? I used the money from selling the queen ant necklace to start this guild and make investments.”

“Ah, so the Kanghyeon Guild’s vice guildmaster came here because you fought Yeon Do-jin?”

“The Kanghyeon Guild’s vice guildmaster?”

Not Yeon Do-jin himself? Has he still not woken up? He didn’t seem that badly injured…

“What did Kanghyeon Guild say? They know the rule—no one enters a dungeon once it’s already occupied.”

“They said it was a mistake. The person in charge was new, so they apparently issued duplicate permits.”

What kind of nonsense is that?

The gatekeeper at the entrance let Yeon Do-jin through even though he knew I was already inside. And Yeon Do-jin didn’t hesitate either.

When someone’s already in a dungeon, the gate glows red. Entering anyway is beyond rude.

Even if the new gatekeeper mistakenly approved it, shouldn’t they have backed off when they saw it was already occupied?

And by a guild master, no less?

But leaving that aside—how did Yeon Do-jin end up ahead of me, even though he entered later?

When I went in, the gate was transparent.

“So… did you two fight?”

“…I was completely on the receiving end.”

If I hadn’t been in a human body, Yeon Do-jin would’ve been knocked out in one strike.

Thinking back on it made me click my tongue. What could I do to make this weak body a little stronger?

“While I was out, did anything happen in the guild? What about the interviews and new applicants?”

“Other than the Kanghyeon Guild visit, nothing. The interviews were postponed. Based on your initial screening, Mr. Choi Tae-hyuk and I reviewed the applications again, but in the end, there weren’t many left worth interviewing.”

“I see.”

“Wait a moment.”

Gumiho stepped out of the room.

Most S- or A-rank awakeners join guilds as soon as they awaken, so there aren’t usually many free candidates. Even with the privilege of receiving applications from VVIPs, hardly any were worth a second look.

“And…”

Gumiho came back holding a thick card.

“Unnie, the guild master just woke up.”

“It seems too soon for him to be working.”

“No, I’m fine. Please give it here.”

Despite the sharp glares from An Bom and Choi Tae-hyuk, Gumiho handed me the card.

I waved my hand to show it was fine and opened it.

[1st Guild Meeting]

A guild meeting? Since when did that exist?

“A guild meeting?”

“According to the news, the Hunter Association president said guilds in Korea need exchanges, so he’s organizing it.”

The Hunter Association president? I already knew who was really behind this.

The location was the Association. The date was…

“The meeting is today?!”

“…Yes. In an hour.”

The card didn’t say it was mandatory, so I closed it.

Eventually, to prevent disaster, I’d need to get along with other guild masters. But not right now.

With Ji Yun-seo’s awakening just finished, paperwork still pending, and with An Bom and Choi Tae-hyuk clearly not wanting to go either, this wasn’t the time.

“I’ll skip this one. I need some rest…”

“Guild Master Yeon Do-jin came to visit.”

I looked up at Gumiho. She sighed before continuing.

“He showed up right at one o’clock. When I said it was inconvenient, he insisted he’d accompany you to the guild meeting…”

An Bom and Choi Tae-hyuk looked surprised too, as if they were hearing it for the first time.

Why did that guy come here?

And dragging a sick person to a meeting—was he serious?

“Unnie, the guild master is still wandering outside…”

“I know. But…”

Right. That guy never changes. Even outside a dungeon, he’d still act the same.

“Has my story spread anywhere else?”

“It’s been quiet—probably because the Kanghyeon Guild managed it.”

“Then tell Yeon Do-jin that I still haven’t woken up since collapsing that day…”

Would I even want to go with him?

Absolutely not.

Dealing with that mad dog once was more than enough.

“You’re looking better than I expected.”

  1. I thought maybe he’s a regressor but maybe he’s just insane. But he’s probably both.
