The F-Rank Guild Master Has Too Much Money Chapter 40
After shaking off the reporters who had followed us by car, I arrived at the guild and collapsed onto the sofa in the guild master’s office. Maybe it was because I hadn’t fully recovered, or maybe I was just mentally drained—but I was unbearably tired.
“Please get some rest. I’ll take care of the rest.”
“I’ll leave it to you.”
Knock, knock—
As Choi Tae-hyuk stood, the door opened with a soft knock. Peeking inside were Ji Yun-seo, Kero, and Saphi.
“Come here.”
Ji Yun-seo ran toward me, carrying Kero. Saphi rushed ahead, then abruptly stopped, standing on its hind legs in front of Ji Yun-seo.
“Kaak!”
“Krawng!”
What the—? Wasn’t Ji Yun-seo supposed to have tamed Saphi? They had been getting along perfectly before.
Kero bared its teeth in response to Saphi’s threatening stance.
“Kaak!”
“Kyaak!”
Startled by the sharp cries, Ji Yun-seo froze, her eyes wide. Kero leapt down from her arms, bristling as though ready to attack Saphi.
Even then, Saphi kept glaring at Ji Yun-seo, until finally, it fluttered its wings and plopped onto my lap. Watching Saphi purr in satisfaction, I noticed tears welling up in Ji Yun-seo’s eyes.
“Yun-seo?”
“Uncle….”
I reached out to Ji Yun-seo, who looked like the slightest touch would make her burst into tears. Hesitantly, she stepped closer.
“Yun-seo, come here.”
I called her to my side instead of right in front of me. If the problem was Saphi not being tamed, then once it was, there’d be no issue.
“Yun-seo, want to try with Saphi the same way you did with Kero?”
Conveniently, Saphi kept its eyes fixed on Ji Yun-seo, wary of her approach. The two locked eyes, and Ji Yun-seo opened her mouth.
“Come here, Jju-jju.”
T/N: “Come here, Jju-jju” is Ji Yun-seo’s skill. Jju-jju is like a cute nickname used to call her pet.
“Kaak…!!”
The skill failed. Saphi screeched, and Ji Yun-seo whimpered, glancing at me. Why did it fail? Saphi was S-rank, just like Kero.
‘Is it because of the gem? But that doesn’t make sense—Kero was tamed without one….’
The Kero Ji Yun-seo had tamed hadn’t used a gem. I even confirmed it with her—she had simply coaxed the Kero without any gems.
Back then, Saphi had also seemed to get along fine, so I thought S-rank beasts could be tamed without gems. But now, that didn’t seem to be the case.
First things first—time to put out the fire. I reached over to the desk, picked up Saphi’s taming gem, and handed it to Ji Yun-seo.
“Yun-seo, try holding this in your hand.”
“Come here, Jju-jju!”
Clutching the jewel tightly, Ji Yun-seo shouted.
“Kaak!!!”
Little Saphi let out a roar.
“Uncle!”
In the end, Ji Yun-seo burst into tears. I set the temperamental Saphi down on my lap and tried to hug her, but the closer she got, the more threatening Saphi’s posture became, as if ready to bite. From below, Kero’s right snout started to glow faintly.
‘This might cause a fire.’
“Saphi. Don’t.”
I clamped Saphi’s mouth shut as if pinching it with tweezers. Its large eyes rolled wildly. I placed the now-quiet Saphi on the table and picked up Ji Yun-seo into my arms as she reached out.
“Hiiing… Uncle.”
Perhaps Saphi’s tantrum had been more shocking than expected, because Ji Yun-seo, who hadn’t thrown a fit since awakening, pressed her forehead against my shoulder.
“Saphi must be in a bad mood today. Don’t cry, don’t cry.”
‘Why can’t Saphi be tamed?’
☆Aether-nim~ has donated 100 Mana Stones.☆
Just a reminder—Saphi may look like a monster, but it isn’t.
☆Saphi has donated 100 Mana Stones.☆
Saphi is a being created by your power. Can a creature made by divine power belong to someone else?
‘Ah. Right.’
Saphi was a creature of my own creation. Unlike other monsters, because it was made by me, it couldn’t be tamed.
Nodding, I patted Ji Yun-seo’s back while Saphi rolled its eyes, observing us. Kero, sensing Ji Yun-seo’s mood, whimpered from under the table. At that moment, An Bom entered with a knock.
“Oh? Yun-seo, why are you crying?”
“Saphi threw a tantrum. Weren’t they getting along fine until now?”
“Yes… Actually, saying they were getting along isn’t quite right. Saphi had been ignoring Yun-seo all this time.”
Ignored her?
But when I woke up, they had been hugging each other simultaneously…
An Bom nodded knowingly.
“The first time they were truly together was when the guildmaster collapsed. Before and even after that, Saphi would always avoid Yun-seo whenever she got close. Even when we tried talking to it, Saphi ignored her, and if she attempted to touch it, it would throw a tantrum.”
Really? I glanced at Choi Tae-hyuk, who nodded in confirmation.
So Saphi had been that difficult?
I had thought it was lucky that they seemed to get along, but apparently not. I reached out my hand to Saphi, who was licking its long tongue across its face, and called, “Saphi.”
Saphi glanced between Ji Yun-seo and my hand, sighed, and rested its face on my palm. Its body was too large to climb fully onto me.
Maybe because it was made by my power—it was smart enough to understand me.
“Saphi. You need to get along with Yun-seo.”
“That’s my uncle!”
Saphi’s eyes shifted to Ji Yun-seo. She glared back, unwilling to lose, tightening her hands around my neck as she hugged me.
I patted her back to encourage her, and her chin lifted proudly. The silent competition continued.
When Ji Yun-seo’s swallowing became audible, Saphi finally looked away first.
“I win!”
An Bom clapped and gestured toward Choi Tae-hyuk and me.
‘Why don’t you give a clap?’
Awkwardly, Choi Tae-hyuk and I joined in, and Ji Yun-seo’s pride soared.
I set Ji Yun-seo down and lifted Saphi back onto my lap.
“From now on, you need to get along with everyone.”
Saphi seemed to understand it had lost because of me. Even though it was young, it was a dragon—there was no way it would lose to a mere human girl.
“Yun-seo, you also need to get along with Saphi from now on.”
“I can do that.”
I placed Ji Yun-seo on my lap properly and held her close. At that moment, a knock sounded at the door, and it opened.
“Guildmaster. The Fire Dungeon raid is complete.”
I took the remote that Gumiho handed me and turned on the TV. On the screen was Yeon Do-jin, who had finished the raid.
He was still wearing the same immaculate suit I had seen before. Not a speck of dust. He looked as if he had stepped straight out of a celebrity photoshoot, with perfect posture and a face enhanced by a hundred lights.
It was hard to believe he had just completed a dungeon raid. If I hadn’t seen him recently, I might have thought he cleared it only today.
『Guildmaster Yeon Do-jin, this was an S-rank dungeon, correct?』
『What monsters were inside?』
『Did you finish the raid in record time?』
『We’ll provide detailed information on the dungeon in a press release later.』
Yeon Do-jin was famously unwilling to do interviews.
When the Kanghyeon Guild tried to block the reporters, he ignored them entirely and walked toward his waiting vehicle.
『Was this indeed the Fire Dungeon?』
『Please tell us your thoughts on the raid.』
『Were the wounds on your cheek from this Fire Dungeon?』
Yeon Do-jin stopped and stared expressionlessly at the reporters, then suddenly smiled. With gloved fingers, he pointed to the pink bandage on his cheek.
『No. This isn’t related to the dungeon. Since it came to mind, I should give a gift.』
His hand sliced through the air. A black void appeared, and he reached in and pulled out a longsword.
A longsword? Why a longsword all of a sudden?
The black sword was instantly wrapped in a whip.
『I’ll accept your thanks later.』
The sword, wrapped in the whip, flew off somewhere. Yeon Do-jin finished speaking to the cameras and got into his car.
And then—
Clang!
“Whoa!”
“Squeak!”
“Graaah!”
The sounds from behind made Saphi and Ji Yun-seo scream, while Kero barked loudly. Terrified, they clung tightly to each other as the sword, wrapped in the whip, floated through the broken window.
“Crazy bastard.”
“Guildmaster! There’s a child here!”
An Bom shouted, panicking.
Ah! I had Yun-seo in my arms.
“Sorry, Yun-seo.”
Ji Yun-seo nodded.
I handed her to An Bom, and after sending Kero and her out of the guildmaster’s office, I stepped toward the floating whip and sword.
What kind of thoughts drive someone to do something like this?
The whip loosened, dropped the sword, and flew out through the broken window.
A black, glossy sword.
Exactly Yeon Do-jin’s style. But why was he giving this sword to me?
‘Clairvoyance.’
[Way of Power (S)]
– Absorbs electrical abilities and returns them. Attack power +1400. Reflect damage 2%.
‘Isn’t this a sword meant for Choi Tae-hyuk?’
No need to even clear an S-rank dungeon. The sword fits Choi Tae-hyuk perfectly. I slowly drew the blade. Its gleam suggested it was well-maintained. Why was it given to me? After examining it under the sunlight, I sheathed it again.
“Guildmaster.”
“Choi Tae-hyuk.”
“This is the Way of Power.”
“Huh? Choi Tae-hyuk, you know this sword?”
Choi Tae-hyuk nodded.
Is this sword really that famous?
“Really? This sword suits Choi Tae-hyuk perfectly. You should use it.”
“And you, Guildmaster…?”
“It doesn’t suit me. Use it.”
Choi Tae-hyuk accepted the sword. For some reason, even though it was Yeon Do-jin’s, it seemed to fit perfectly in Choi Tae-hyuk’s hands.
Watching him examine it, I raised my hand and stirred a small whirlwind. I swept up shards of glass and debris, quietly tossed them into the trash, and then collapsed back onto the sofa. After working non-stop for two days, my body was completely drained.
“It might be good to rest for a while,” Gumiho said.
“Yes, that’s the plan. So much happened all at once.”
“Did you buy all the dungeons?”
At her question, Choi Tae-hyuk handed her the documents he’d received from the Hunter Association. Seeing that I had purchased three dungeons, a smile spread across Gumiho’s face.
“You bought three dungeons?”
“I originally planned to get more, but there weren’t any suitable ones. Oh, and the B-rank dungeon is reserved for a real combat test.”
“Understood!”
I closed my eyes, watching Gumiho leave the guildmaster’s office with a cheerful smile.
“The combat test is scheduled for the day after tomorrow. Will you be coming?” Choi Tae-hyuk asked.
“Yes. I want to see it for myself.”
“No need to overexert yourself.”
“I’m just observing. I won’t be doing anything.”
“…Understood. Then please, rest.”
Once Choi Tae-hyuk left, the guildmaster’s office fell silent. All urgent matters were now handled.
The field test would be overseen by Choi Tae-hyuk, and with two S-ranks and one A-rank attacking the dungeon, it was safe—they could clear it even while strolling casually.
Recruiting two more members would put the guild on track, leaving nothing else to worry about for the time being.
“Collecting heroes is fun. I’ll recruit just two more, and then I can finally relax as a guildmaster.”
Or so I thought…
Why!!!
[Dungeon interference has begun. Dungeon difficulty increased. B-rank Sea Dungeon → A-rank Stormy Sea upgraded.]
☆Yahoo! has donated 100 Mana Stones.☆
I’ll take over this dungeon! Fighting, Aether!
“Crazy?”
