“Perhaps. Now, why do you think she threw herself into the sea?”

“The stew the husband fed his wife… was made from sea monster meat.”

“She couldn’t forgive herself for being satisfied after eating such a filthy monster.”
In a world where sea monsters in human form are treated worse than beasts,
a pirate who despises sea monsters kidnaps a woman for revenge.
“There was a pirate who had a beloved lover. One day, the lover ate the stew the pirate gave them and left his side. Why do you think the lover left?”
“They must have realized the pirate didn’t truly love them.”
“How could they have known?”
The woman swallowed her answer: If he really loved them, he wouldn’t have fed them one of their own kind.
The pirate had no idea.
