The F-Rank Guild Master Has Too Much Money Chapter 52
The moment I saw the whip, all the anxiety I’d been holding onto melted away. It wasn’t that anything had happened to Ji Yun-seo — she must’ve realized I was gone and activated the bracelet.
But…why was Yeon Do-jin’s whip here? Did someone call him?
Sirens wailed in the distance as several cars sped toward me. Since he hadn’t ripped through space to show up, he was definitely riding in one of those cars.
Ugh, what a pain.
I really didn’t want to provoke Yeon Do-jin today. If that mad dog saw my power again, he’d definitely go for a fight, so I slowly let the wind disperse.
I landed as gently as possible, but pain shot through every injured spot the second my feet touched the ground.
“Ugh.”
Goosebumps spread across my arms, and cold sweat trickled down my back. I slowly lowered the iron cage that had been floating in the air.
“Well, at least Yun-seo’s bracelet works.”
I let out a hollow laugh and slid down to lean against the building. I didn’t dare bend my right leg, so I kept it stretched out — and my eyes landed on the jaw slime.
Right. How on earth am I going to explain that thing?
【I’m here. Looks like it’s already over.】
“Shayna? Why’d you come back?”
【To help you, obviously. What, you only messed up their wrists and ankles? You’re way too soft.】
Shayna clicked her tongue as she glanced at the hired muscle. Does she not know the Hammurabi Code — eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth?
I waved her over and pointed at the slime.
“Get rid of that.”
【Why? If I get rid of it, it’ll hurt again.】
“I won’t be able to explain it when people get here.”
【Just say I gave it to you.】
Oh, great.
So I’m supposed to tell them a god named Shayna showed up and handed me this mysterious splint?
Perfect way to end up in a psych ward. Absolutely not.
“Just undo it. Hurry.”
Shayna tapped the maw slime with her little paw. It sparkled, crumbled into powder, and disappeared.
“Ugh.”
Okay, so it really was acting like a splint. The pain eased at first, but as soon as it vanished, agony flared up again, and another wave of cold sweat drenched me.
【You okay?】
“No. Feels like hell.”
【Told you to keep it.】
“I can’t. The mad dog’s on his way.”
【Huh?】
I shook my head.
“Before you go — is there a way to contact you?”
【Why?】
“I have a lot of questions.”
Shayna tilted her head and scratched her ear.
【Is there even a way to contact me…?】
So the answer was no.
Sirens drew closer.
“Just go. I’ll reach out later.”
Anyone else might not notice, but Yeon Do-jin definitely would — Shayna wasn’t just some ordinary fox. And knowing him, instead of being suspicious, he’d probably go, Oh, neat! and jump right in.
I’d endured the pain and dispersed the wind precisely because I didn’t want to cause any trouble with Yeon Do-jin—I couldn’t let things get any messier.
【Alright. I’ll find you later.】
With tiny steps, Shayna slipped into the darkness. All I could do was wait — but before the police arrived, a roaring motorcycle skidded to a stop in front of me.
A man on a sleek black bike took off his helmet.
“You’re worse off than I thought.”
“Mr. Yeon Do-jin? What are you doing here?”
His curly hair fell over his forehead in the wind. With his eyes narrowed almost to slits, he smiled softly.
“I heard an interesting person had been kidnapped.”
“I’m not sure what’s so interesting about it, but it’s handled.”
“I see. Then tell me which bastard did this.”
The whip coiled around my arm loosened and slithered back to him.
“…What?”
I stared in confusion. Yeon Do-jin strode over, knelt down, and met my gaze. He reached out and grabbed my chin; the touch made me wince.
“Which bastard dared to do this?”
Anger leaked from his black eyes.
“Y-Yeon Do-jin? What’s wrong?”
His killing intent was so intense that even I—a god—felt chills run down my spine. When I called his name, the murderous aura eased a little. He tilted my chin left and right, scanning my face and body, before speaking again.
“So who was it?”
“I don’t know.”
“What about them?” he asked, glancing at the three men sprawled on the ground.
“They said they were just errand workers.”
He scoffed. “And the reason?”
“A merger — ah!”
Before I could finish, his grip on my chin tightened until pain shot through me like my jaw would break. I swatted his hand away. He only grinned wider.
“Ah, sorry.”
At least pretend to be sorry, you bastard.
I waved him off.
“So, who’s trying to merge?”
“If I knew, would I be sitting here? I’d be out there smashing them already.”
“Fair point.”
What’s with him?
For some reason, Yeon Do-jin looked furious. He rose to his feet, scanning the area as if he could blow the whole place apart at any second. Confused, I asked,
“Are you angry, Mr. Yeon Do-jin?”
“Yes.”
“…Why?”
Instead of answering right away, he looked around—and then suddenly smiled.
Wow. A handsome guy’s smile really is blinding.
“I don’t like it when someone touches what’s mine.”
His smile was stunning, but his words were baffling enough to make me blink.
“…What’s yours?”
“Guildmaster Ji Yeon-woo. I said I’d raise you, so you’re mine.”
What kind of bullshit is that?
I frowned at Yeon Do-jin’s nonsense and was about to speak when sirens wailed right next to us. A police car screeched to a stop, and a man jumped out.
“Guildmaster!”
It was Choi Tae-hyuk. His frantic voice and hurried steps said everything—he’d clearly been running himself ragged looking for me.
Why worry so much? I would’ve come home just fine.
“I’m here.”
I waved, and Choi Tae-hyuk rushed over.
“Thank goodness you’re safe.”
After his squad car, more police vehicles—and even an ambulance—arrived one after another. I scratched my cheek awkwardly.
“Sorry for the trouble.”
“No, not at all. Please, let me help you up.”
He offered his hand.
Is he trying to help me stand?
I grabbed his hand and tried to lean my weight on him but—
“Ugh…”
Shayna’s healing had definitely made things better, but now that the tension was gone, the pain came crashing back in waves.
“Are you alright?”
“Yes. My leg just hurts a little. I’ll have An Bom heal me once I’m home.”
Choi Tae-hyuk clicked his tongue at my words and held out his arms, clearly intending to carry me again—just like last time.
“…That’s enough.”
Yeon Do-jin grabbed his arm. When Choi Tae-hyuk shot him an annoyed look, Yeon Do-jin released him and pointed at my leg.
“I know you’re in a rush, but check Guildmaster Ji Yeon-woo’s condition first.”
“…Ah.”
I didn’t need a mirror to know I looked awful. I gave a weak laugh and looked away.
“Sorry.”
“No, it’s fine. I’m not that hurt— Ow!”
I shot Yeon Do-jin a glare as he touched my swollen leg. He raised both hands like he’d done nothing wrong.
“I was just checking—how badly you’re hurt.”
“And how would you know that?”
“To fight properly, you need to know where the bones are.”
I stared at him, incredulous, and he just smiled.
“Luckily, nothing’s displaced. A splint should be enough.”
“I’ll go get—”
“No need. We can use this.”
The whip that had been floating in the air drifted toward my right leg—red and blue from bruising—and wrapped around it like a bandage.
It could do that too?
It held tight without a single knot…
I want this whip. I really want it.
“I’ve secured it well. You can go to the hospital like that.”
At his words, Choi Tae-hyuk helped me stand. Pain shot through me from everywhere, and a groan escaped before I could stop it.
“I’ll take you to the hospital—”
“No. I’d rather go home. An Bom can fix this.”
“Still—”
“I want to rest at home.”
I knew I looked like hell and that getting proper treatment was probably the smarter option.
But I felt worse with every passing minute—I just wanted to go home and collapse. And besides, the best healer lived in my house.
Hearing me, Choi Tae-hyuk reluctantly nodded. I looked at Yeon Do-jin.
“If you’re already helping, would you mind opening a door?”
“I could, but if Choi Tae-hyuk leaves, who’s handling the mess here?”
“The person who came to help should clean it up.”
Obviously. Why ask me?
Seeing my expression, Yeon Do-jin shrugged.
“Consider it on my tab.”
“What? Who do you think dragged you out of that dungeon last time?”
I hadn’t considered that a debt—but if he wanted to frame it that way, then it was only fair he paid me back now.
When I shrugged, Yeon Do-jin let out a quiet laugh.
“And I have one more request.”
“One more?” he echoed.
“You’re not saying your life is worth less than cleaning up garbage, right?”
Yeon Do-jin laughed and nodded.
“The one who sent these guys told them to dump the merger agreement and a USB with the video into the trash can at Sillim Station Exit 1. Two p.m. tomorrow.”
“Merger? What are you talking about?”
“Choi Tae-hyuk, I’ll explain the details later. Mr. Yeon Do-jin, can you check on that tomorrow?”
“Sure.”
Yeon Do-jin removed his gloves, waved his hand, and space split open—like the wall itself was tearing apart—revealing my familiar room.
“Uncle!!”
“Guildmaster!!”
I’d thought he’d at least open it to the guild entrance—but no, straight into my bedroom.
If it opens this easily, what was the point of installing a secret gate?
I clicked my tongue and gestured for Choi Tae-hyuk to come over. Yeon Do-jin smiled.
“It’d be best if you didn’t walk much. I could carry you with the whip—”
“No thanks.”
Choi Tae-hyuk stepped forward immediately.
“Then I’ll carry you like last time—”
“It’s fine. My leg’s splinted; I can walk.”
I didn’t want to be carried just to cross a room—especially with Ji Yun-seo right there.
“I’ll come by tomorrow to pick up the whip and update you on the request.”
“No. Just call me. I’ll toss the whip out the window; you can pick it up yourself.”
“You’re so heartless.”
With a low chuckle, Yeon Do-jin headed toward the police officers restraining the criminals.
“Let’s go.”
I started walking slowly with Choi Tae-hyuk. Every step sent pain shooting up my leg, and I kept gritting my teeth without realizing it.
Seeing that, Choi Tae-hyuk reached toward me.
“I’ll support you—no, you can hold my hand, or maybe—”
Probably because Yeon Do-jin had stopped him earlier—or because I looked like hell—
he kept awkwardly putting his hand out and pulling it back, looking completely flustered.
Then, as if deciding, he reached for me… and grabbed right where my wrist was scraped and bleeding.
“Ugh—”
He froze solid.
“H-ha… hah. I’m fine. It’s nothing.”
I forced a smile, but he stayed stiff as a statue.
“Let’s go.”
“…Yeah.”
Carefully, trying not to aggravate my injuries, I stepped through the portal. Warm air wrapped around me, and a familiar, pleasant scent filled the room.
“Uncle—!”
The moment Ji Yun-seo saw me, she burst into tears. I soothed her and gave Gumiho, who was hurrying over, an apologetic look.
“Sorry.”
“No—please, Guildmaster, lie down.”
“It just looks bad. It’s not that serious. Don’t cry, Yun-seo.”
Gumiho gently took her from my arms, and I lay on the bed.
“Then I’ll head back out to finish up.”
“Oh—the ones in the iron cage. Can you bring them too?”
Choi Tae-hyuk nodded and slipped back through the portal.
Once the space sealed behind him, my room returned to normal.
An Bom took my hand and began healing. Warmth spread from her touch, radiating through my body. My head and legs especially felt like the hands of Hig, the god of healing, were soothing them.
“Healing really is amazing.”
“I’ll do it anytime… just please stop getting hurt.”
“Okay.”
The warmth made me loose and drowsy. I needed to wash; I had things to discuss—
yet my eyelids grew heavy.
I can’t sleep…
I have to… get up…
…
No matter how hard I tried, my body sank into the bed and my eyes drifted shut.
“Get some rest.”
A gentle sensation settled at the back of my head, and I fell asleep.
