The Only Woman in a Zombie Apocalypse Vol. 2 Chapter 60 - Battle with Humans (1)

Author: Nikss

If Dohun saw it, he would definitely tease her—it was obvious.

Dayoung covered the marks by putting a bandage on her neck and wearing a thin cardigan.

On her way down to the dining hall, she stopped by the bathroom to quickly wash her face, brush her teeth, and tidy her hair before cautiously heading to the dining hall.

Of all places, the only empty seat was next to Dohun. Dayoung let out a small sigh and sat down in the empty seat.

As she lowered her head to eat her soup, Dohun frowned at her appearance.

“Who was it?”

“…???”

“Who was it that rudely left marks on Noona’s body?!”

“Do-Dohun!”

Dayoung was flustered by Dohun’s sudden outburst.

That pretty mouth of his!!!

“Noona, what’s that on your neck?”

“That… I got bitten by a bug.”

“Then, what about your collarbone?”

“Huh? That… I guess there were a lot of mosquitoes in the room.”

“What kind of nonsense is that? The management team puts so much effort into internal pest control.”

Dayoung tried to make excuses, but they didn’t work on Dohun.

The group began to suspect each other after hearing Dohun’s words. Hayun, who had been watching quietly, slowly raised his hand.

“Sorry. I got a little carried away.”

“Noona, take off your cardigan.”

“Huh?”

“Hurry!”

Dohun pulled down Dayoung’s cardigan.

The group glared at Hayun as they saw the bite marks scattered across her collarbone and shoulders.

“Another beast has been added. Hyung Hayun, I told you not to leave marks on Noona’s body. We talked about it last time.”

“I’m really sorry. I won’t do it again.”

“That’s a yellow card. Understood?”

“Yeah.”

Hayun recalled the cautionary advice he had heard when he first arrived here.

Yesterday, he had been too excited and lost control.

They had told him that to maintain peace, he shouldn’t leave marks on Dayoung’s body, as it would lead to mutual wariness and possessive desires among them.

Since he had broken that peace, Hayun raised both hands and apologized to the group.

“Really, I won’t do it again. I’m really sorry.”

“Okay. I’ll accept your apology.”

Only after Hayun’s apology did the group resume their meal.

However, their eyes kept darting to Dayoung’s collarbone, red and swollen against her white skin. This must have been what Dohun had been talking about.

The desire of men to leave their mark on that white, soft skin.

The possessive urge to cover another man’s mark with their own. The group knew Dayoung didn’t belong to anyone, but a man’s instinct inevitably stirred.

“Noona, it’d be better not to be with anyone until the mark fades.”

“Huh?”

“It’s like a man’s instinct. They’ll want to make you their woman and leave their mark on you. At this rate, your whole body will be covered in hickeys and bite marks.”

“Ah… Okay. I’ll be careful too.”

“Thank you.”

Dayoung had never expected the bite mark Hayun left would cause such a big fuss. It seemed they had their own set of detailed rules that she wasn’t aware of.

After finishing the meal, Dayoung returned to her room and examined the bite mark closely.

Admittedly, perhaps because of her fair skin, it stood out more and gave off a lewd feeling, but it was hard for her to understand what the group meant by ‘possessive desire.’

Dayoung imagined a scenario where marks of passion were left on the bodies of the group members.

If four women come and have sex with them, leaving marks.

Ah, that’s irritating.

Even though I know they’re not my people, since we had a sexual relationship, I’d probably care unnecessarily and get annoyed.

“Ah, so this is how it feels. I’ll have to be careful from now on.”

Just as Dayoung was feeling unnecessarily down and depressed, Minho called her from outside the curtain.

“Dayoung, it’s time for scouting.”

“Okay. I’ll come down.”

Scouting twice a day.

They were advancing little by bit every day in all directions. Since it wasn’t a big city, they would probably reach the edge of town before the end of the year.

In the novel, scouting isn’t completed until February of next year.

Of course, they also go out to scout other places in between.

Dayoung went down to the first floor, prepared her gun, and then left the mall with the group. The north still showed nothing, and no particularly searchable buildings had appeared.

“Would it be better to just quickly search and clear the north?”

“But there might be people coming over from other areas. We still need to keep scouting. This road is the widest, after all.”

Dayoung looked at the path leading to the wide road.

A broad road connecting to Gyeonggi-do.

Would anyone actually come over this road?

The scouting trip to the north ended with no gains, and the afternoon scouting to the east also concluded without any significant findings.

That night, Dayoung sat at the desk and opened her diary.

A diary where the day’s tasks were written by date. She turned to the very first page and checked the notes she had written about the novel’s content.

「End of June: Three men in an accident – attacked / No fatalities

End of July: Three foreigners

Early August: A bottled water store found 1 hour away to the east / Discovered in early July and moved to the shopping mall.

End of September: Electrical problems occur. (Unable to repair due to lack of tools. No electricity except on the 1st and 3rd floors) – Can be resolved with tools discovered in early July

Early September: Rescued four women from the west

End of September: Built barricades 1 hour away in all directions (east, west, south, north)

Early October: Hardware store discovered <Discovered on July 1>

Mid-November: Attacked by humans

Early December: Department store discovered 2 hours away to the west

End of December: Built barricades 2 hours away in all directions (east, west, south, north)

Mid-January: Hardships due to severe cold

End of February: Discovered a food material mart 2.5 hours away to the east (found instant food)

End of March: The scouting team went east for reconnaissance; the barricade collapsed, and they were attacked. Two injured.

Mid-May: Food supplies run out

Early June: Moved to Gangwon-do 〈Met Jang Hayun in an underground bunker. Met on July 8 and joined forces.〉」

After realizing that the group wouldn’t just barge into her room, she decided to write comfortably.

Since the original plot had already changed anyway, Dayoung decided to loot the department store and the food material mart in the future. She couldn’t help but wonder what would happen when the three foreigners came to the shopping mall at the end of this month.

“At this rate, won’t we even be able to save the four women…? If that happens, it’ll really be completely different from the original.”

But seeing Hayun’s situation, it also seemed that people who needed to meet would eventually meet.

Dayoung suddenly found herself in a dilemma.

Should she continue to uphold what was already broken? Or should she bend things a little more to make it easier for the group?

“The sooner we loot the department store and the food supply mart, the better. What should we do…?”

The stockpiled supplies in the shopping mall were still plentiful.

But since it would soon become difficult to go on reconnaissance once autumn and winter arrived, it seemed better to gather supplies in advance.

Moreover, they had found the food supply mart back in February.

It was a place the group had worked hard to find in the dead of winter, braving frozen hands and feet to get those ingredients.

Dayoung decided to go get the food supplies before then.

They also needed to prepare for winter before it came. Dayoung began writing down the things they needed to do on the back of her diary.

「Get oil. Obtain cold-weather supplies. Maintain the interior of the shopping mall.」

Since they were attacked by a group in November, they needed to finish all preparations by October.

And she was determined to spend the winter solely inside the shopping mall.

The next morning, while eating breakfast, Dayoung casually brought up to the group what she had been thinking about all night, in order to put it into action.

“Are we going on reconnaissance to the west today?”

“Yeah. We’re heading west in the morning.”

“If you go a bit past the western barricade, there’s a department store. It’s not that huge because there’s a shopping mall nearby, but it has only high-end stores, you know? Its basement level has a mart and a food court. I’d like us to go there today.”

“There’s a department store? A building that size should be noticeable. How come we haven’t seen it?”

At Kim Dayoung’s words, the scouting team’s eyes widened.

Since they had already set up barricades to the west for about two hours, a large building like a department store should have been visible from a distance.

However, none of the group had spotted such a large building.

“It’s because the department store is small. Most brands are in this shopping mall, so they made it a high-end department store. It only has four floors. We mainly go to the supermarket on the first basement level, the food court, and the restaurants on the fourth floor. If there are any thin clothes, you can grab them.”

“Alright. Then let’s head there today. Let’s eat a solid meal and stay strong today.”

The group finished a hearty breakfast, prepared to leave, and gathered in front of the back door.

Today, all members of the scouting team were assembled.

As they gathered and put on their ear mics, Dayoung felt a little worried.

What if they couldn’t find the department store? What if, unlike in the original, another group had already looted it?

The group that had settled in the eastern sports center based on Dayoung’s memory had rarely ventured beyond its vicinity.

Even when searching, an hour’s distance around the sports center was their maximum range.

Especially since the department store was in the opposite direction from the gymnasium past the shopping mall, there was a hundred percent chance they hadn’t gone there.
