The Only Woman in a Zombie Apocalypse Vol. 3 Chapter 84 - Everything goes according to God’s will. No, it’s according to mine.

Author: Nikss

“Hmm… I read a book not too long ago. There was this guy who possessed someone else’s body in a novel? But it turned out it wasn’t possession—it was actually the world he originally lived in. Returning to where he used to live was fine, but the world was heading toward destruction. What should that guy do?”

“What kind of book plot is that? How does it end?”

“Right. After reading it, I just felt unnecessarily frustrated. It feels like we’re also heading toward destruction. What should I do? I had all sorts of thoughts and couldn’t even finish it.”

At Dayoung’s vague, evasive words, Ian frowned and pondered.

Having been a leader who led a group and now handling many preparations and instructions on Dayoung’s behalf, it wasn’t really a difficult question from Ian’s perspective.

“If I were that guy… If everyone really has to die, I’d be the last person left on a doomed Earth. I’d send off the people I loved, my comrades, and die last.”

“…”

“And until that destruction comes, I’d do my best to live. Even if I go hungry, even if I have nowhere to lie down, whatever that destruction may be, that’s what I think. Since I was born anyway, I shouldn’t die with regrets. I want to live each day doing my best.”

“…”

“Besides, that guy’s situation is different from yours, Noona. We don’t have any major threats besides zombies, right? We even have guns, so we can take down zombies easily. If we leave the shopping mall, we’d have to live a primitive lifestyle, which might be inconvenient, but we could farm, hunt for meat, and even build houses to live in. Right?”

“True. At least we have hope to live on.”

Dayoung finally shed tears at Ian’s gentle voice.

The answer was already set. She wasn’t going to commit suicide, it was a world she had to live in, anyway, and the loss of little Dayoung and soldier Dayoung was something unavoidable.

The current her felt like she was neither the soldier nor the little Dayoung, nor even the Dayoung who had lived in another world.

But ultimately, they were all people she had to embrace and carry with her.

In the body of little Dayoung, holding the memories of soldier Dayoung and the memories of Dayoung from another world. In the end, it all meant she had become one Kim Dayoung.

What did God want? Did he want the overflowing zombies across the vast expanse of this country to be wiped out?

Why was soldier Kim Dayoung needed?

Though it still didn’t make much sense, perhaps a day would come when she could understand God’s will.

Ian carefully wiped away Dayoung’s tears. Then, Dayoung rubbed her eyes, wiped away her tears, and her eyes gleamed. The reason God needed soldier Kim Dayoung must have been to save these people.

Well, if that was the case. She would survive with them and protect them.

Whatever God’s will may be, is it any of my business? I will live according to my own will. Everything goes according to my, Kim Dayoung’s, will.

I’ll have sex when I want, eat when I want, and sleep when I want.

Dayoung, whose eyes had been gleaming, soon drifted off to sleep.

Watching Dayoung like that, Ian had to hold back a laugh, careful not to wake her. Dayoung, who cried, made some kind of resolve on her own, and then immediately fell asleep, was adorable.

Ian carefully removed the rabbit-ear headband clipped on Dayoung’s head.

After tidying up, he carefully carried her to her room, making sure not to wake her, and when he came out, the group crowded around.

“How did it go?”

“Did you talk a bit?”

“We sent you to talk, but you didn’t just have sex and come back, right?”

“No. I think she’ll be fine from now on. I guess she was just struggling a lot because of this damn world.”

“Really?? That’s a relief. Let’s get some sleep, too. Should we skip scouting tomorrow and just sleep in?”

“Deal.”

The group went into their rooms one by one.

The next day…

Dayoung woke up and stared at the ceiling. She felt different than usual.

“What is it? My body feels strangely comfortable…”

As she thought about it, Dayoung realized that little Dayoung’s memories weren’t coming to mind. She remembered meeting and talking, but the 24 years of little Dayoung’s memories had vanished.

Just like that, suddenly gone???

She definitely remembered some of it until yesterday.

Could it be… was this why she hadn’t been able to sleep well the past few days?

Dayoung almost swore out loud.

How can it just do whatever it wants! Is being a god everything? Ah, seriously, pisses me off.

Dayoung, who was swearing internally, suddenly covered her mouth in surprise. She hadn’t actually said it out loud, but it was a curse that felt both unfamiliar and familiar.

She might end up becoming a real potty-mouth at this rate.

“Wow. Soldier Dayoung, ma’am. Be careful. You keep popping out. By the way, a man cleans up after you every time. Kim Dayoung is blessed. Really blessed.”

She’d heard some men light a cigarette right after sex, and men who just wash themselves and go to sleep, ignoring the woman who passes out.

But here, it seems there isn’t a single man like that.

Every day she has sex and passes out asleep, but her body never feels sticky, and she even wakes up in clean clothes.

And she always wakes up in her own room. Where do men like this even exist?

How is it that not a single one of them has an annoying flaw?

Dayoung checked the time, which was approaching 10 AM, stretched big, and stepped out from behind the curtain.

Today, the mall was unusually quiet. Dayoung headed to the bathroom to wash up, passing by the rooms of the group who were still snoring in their sleep.

“Huh…? It’s almost 10, and they’re still asleep?”

All the group members were still sleeping in the rooms she passed on her way to the bathroom. And in the very last room, Dayoung met Theo, who was coming out stretching.

“Theo, you’re up?”

“Noona, good morning. Or, good brunch-time?”

“Is today a sleep-in day for everyone?”

“Yeah. Today’s a sleep-in day. Noona, you got up early even though you could sleep more.”

Still sleepy, Theo approached Dayoung, gave her a hug, and spoke.

Dayoung patted his back a few times.

“Noona, what do you want to eat?”

“Today, I feel like having something like brunch. Bread with strawberry jam, and a nice cup of Americano. But we don’t have bread, do we?”

“Hmm… we don’t have bread. But we have plenty of flour. And we have an oven too. I should go down and start the dough. The hyungs probably won’t be up for a while. Noona, come down after resting a bit more.”

“Theo, you know how to make bread?”

“Of course. I have a pastry and baking certification. I got certified when I was 15, planning to go into the food service industry.”

“I’ll come down right after washing up. It’ll be hard for you to do it alone, right?”

“You want to? Then come down after washing up.”

Theo headed to the kitchen, and Dayoung quickly washed up, changed her clothes, and went down to the dining area.

Theo was kneading flour in a large bowl. His face was smudged with flour here and there as he kneaded diligently, and Dayoung went closer to wipe his face.

“What should I do?”

“Kneading takes a lot of strength and is tough. Can you help shape it later, after it proofs a bit?”

“Oh, sounds good.”

While the two were chatting, Minho and Ian approached.

Seeing Dayoung looking noticeably brighter, the two secretly let out a sigh of relief. The four of them diligently worked the proofed dough, shaping it as they pounded and stretched it.

They had quite a fun time, smearing the dough stuck to their hands on each other’s faces. It felt like it had been so long since they laughed without a care like this recently.

The four of them wanted to enjoy this moment a little longer.

Of course, Dayoung, being the smallest and weakest, ended up with her face completely covered in dough.

Theo brought molds from the dining hall storage and quickly shaped a loaf of bread, while Dayoung started making bread smaller than her own fist.

Before they knew it, lunchtime approached, and the group members began gathering one by one in the dining hall.

Theo quickly made a salad with vegetables picked from the rooftop garden.

A refreshing salad and single-serving jam packets were set on the table, and Theo brought out the freshly baked bread and placed it on the table.

“The bread is still hot, so be careful when you eat.”

“Wow. Awesome. Is that bread? Real bread?”

“But why is this small one shaped like this? Is it a circle or a triangle? Theo, you’re good at cooking, but it looks like you’re not so good at shaping, huh?”

At Hanyeol’s words, Dayoung’s face flushed bright red.

Seeing this, Dohun snickered and opened his mouth.

“Hanyeol. That… was made by Dayoung noona.”

“Huh…?”

“Wow. That’s incredibly cute though? Looks like it’ll pop right into your mouth in one bite. What do they call these again? Petit bread?”

At Hanyeol’s words, the group members, who had been nodding along, immediately began changing their tune after Dohun spoke.

Dayoung huffed and pulled the tray with the small bread on it toward herself.

“Nobody eats the ugly bread! I’m eating them all by myself! All that matters is if it tastes good; what does the shape matter? Don’t eat it!”

“No, it was just Hanyeol, we weren’t like that. Give us some, too, okay? Dayoung-ah. I want to try the ones you made.”

“Noona, me too. Me too. Give me some. Okay? Let’s not give any to Hanyeol hyung. Okay?”

At Dayoung’s huffy expression, the group members started clinging to her one by one.

Dayoung, who had only assisted in meal prep before and never actually made anything herself, made what she created incredibly rare and valuable.

Hanyeol, sitting next to Dayoung, picked up one bread, popped it in his mouth, and began praising.

“Oh, it’s delicious. Good that it pops right into your mouth in one bite. It’s cute. Cute like our noona, right?”

“Just kidding. Anyway, Theo made the dough, so. It was bound to taste good.”

Hanyeol playfully flirted next to Dayoung.

Seeing this, Dayoung beamed with a bright smile and pushed the tray forward, and the group members began popping the small bread into their mouths one by one.
