“That’s right. Why are you bothering to rephrase and ask such a simple question? If we remove all the contaminants in this room, Marius’s divine power will naturally be suppressed far more than it is now.”

Yuan said with a face that suggested he had never heard such a foolish question in his life. Gillen quickly put on a smart-looking expression and muttered, “Of course, I knew that. I was just asking to be sure. As expected.” He didn’t want to get caught not knowing the answer.

“Hah… it’s a shame. I was going to show that crazy bastard that we had remote sex.”

“No, it’s not a shame at all. Hurry up and clean the room, chop! chop!”

Gillen said firmly.

Yuan shot Gillen a brief glare, then snapped his fingers in the air. Then, surprisingly, the room became clean in the blink of an eye. The ceiling, walls, and door all regained their original color, returning to a light gray, and the semen that had pooled on the floor and bars also vanished. The same went for the semen and sweat on Gillen’s clothes and body.

“How convenient. Amazing. Our head maid would love to recruit you.”

“Don’t think of me as some cleaning tool.”

Yuan said curtly, then felt the surface of the wall with his fingertips. The bloodstains that Marius had so preciously preserved were completely gone.

“Gillen, stay still for a moment.”

Yuan approached Gillen. And without hesitation, he grabbed the white bars in his hand.

“Yuan! Be careful!”

Gillen shouted in surprise, but the spark he had expected did not appear.

“There’s still some divine power left, but it’s not strong enough to absorb someone’s life force. As expected, Marius wasn’t such a big shot that he could exert this much divine power in a space blocked on all sides by brimstone.”

Yuan smirked. His face was so charming yet villainous that Gillen couldn’t help but avert his eyes. Looking at his face right now, Yuan seemed more like the bad guy than Marius.

“With this much divine power, I think I can shatter it with my magic. I’ll give it a try.”

Yuan said, about to grab the iron bars with both hands. Gillen stopped him.

“Wait a moment!”

“Why?”

“I don’t want to just get out of here. I want to deal with Marius for good.”

Gillen said in a small but clear voice. He was serious. Now that he knew the extent of Marius’s obsession with Yuan, he couldn’t just let him be. No matter that he was just a supporting male lead who gets kicked out in the original novel.

Come to think of it, it was strange. No matter how much Gillen had twisted the flow of the original story, the basic character settings shouldn’t have changed. So why on earth was this obsession of Marius’s not seen in the original novel?

‘Could it be that in the original, Marius chased after Cecilia, saying he liked her… because Yuan wanted to marry Cecilia, he was trying to use Cecilia as bait…? To lure Yuan with Cecilia?’

It was just a fleeting thought, but it was so plausible it gave him the chills. Gillen shivered and tried to shake the thought away. In any case, the original story’s content was already long gone.

“Since the divine power is being controlled, I can get you out, but Marius will keep wearing the magic-blocking chains. My magic doesn’t work on that bastard right now. To kill him, first we have to—”

“No, I said let’s deal with him, not kill him?”

“Isn’t that the same thing?”

“Why is a young man so extreme? I was talking about capturing him, reporting this atrocity to His Majesty the Emperor, and having him face legal punishment!”

Yuan’s lips jutted out. He was undoubtedly thinking that just killing him would be much better. Oh dear, you crazy, precious child. Gillen sighed and began to explain again.

“First, I’ll stay here. You can get me out of here whenever you want, right?”

“For now, yes.”

“Marius doesn’t know yet that the brimstone in this room wasn’t functioning properly, and that it’s now able to block divine power again, does he? Of course, he might be suspicious since the room is clean, but even if he realizes it right away, there will be a few seconds of an opening.”

Gillen had only said this much, but the quick-witted Yuan immediately grasped Gillen’s plan. As Gillen subsequently explained his plan in detail, Yuan nodded his head.

“I understand. Let’s give it a try.”

The place Marius rushed to after bursting out of holy prison 444 was none other than the prayer room on the ground floor. He had been truly shocked. Marius sought God to compose himself from his shock. It was a rare display of a High Priest-like side.

“Lord Retina, Mother of all. Did you truly grant a revelation to Duke Blake? Did you read my innermost thoughts and tell Duke Blake to stop me? When everything I do is for Lord Retina, why do you drive your child into a corner?”

The statue of Retina in the High Priest’s private prayer room was small in size but exquisitely and delicately carved. It was crafted as if a real goddess were standing there. Below the statue was a stone tablet, and occasionally, Retina would deliver oracles through that tablet.

But instead of giving an oracle to Marius as usual, she had given a direct revelation to Duke Blake, an indifferentist and a snob who thought all he had to do was pay money? For Marius, who was as crazy about Retina as he was about Yuan, it was a shock in and of itself.

“What have I done wrong? Please tell me, Lord Retina…”

Marius’s long white hair spilled downwards. Perhaps because of the magic-blocking chains he still wore, he, kneeling with his head bowed in prayer in his white vestments, looked like an archangel from a holy painting. An angel who endures penance and serves only God.

However, the appearance and the truth were different. Marius raised his head and looked up at the beautiful face of the Retina statue.

“In just a little while, Yuan will come back to my side. If I change Yuan’s magic into divine power, it will become a great strength for Lord Retina. It will also become an irreplaceable support for me, who has guarded this position alone for many long years. So, Lord Retina, please trust me just this once. Not Duke Blake, but your High Priest, Marius.”

He kissed the instep of the Retina statue and stood up. Clank, the long chains wrapped around his body made a bloodcurdling sound. Marius’s eyes also shone with a blue light.

He quickly left the prayer room, still wrapped in chains. Because of this, Marius did not see the stone tablet beneath the Retina statue glowing white, nor did he see the letters being carved upon that stone tablet. For at that moment, his heart was filled only with Yuan. Even more so than the Retina he so loved.

Marius ignored the other priests who bowed to him while looking at him strangely with the chains wrapped around him, and went down to the basement. The thought that he had left Yuan and Gillen together for quite a long time made his steps hasten. Though it was not as if they could get Gillen out of the iron cage prison he himself had made.

Even if their relationship wasn’t that deep and Yuan had run away alone, it would have been a good thing. But Yuan knew well to what extent Marius could break a person. He probably wouldn’t have left Gillen alone and departed.

Hurrying down the basement corridor, Marius arrived in front of room 444 and opened the door. The moment he opened the door, he felt a sense of unease. Gillen Blake was still standing inside the birdcage-like prison, and Yuan was also in the room, but… something was very different.

“…You cleaned this room, Yuan.”

Marius said in a voice tinged with sadness. It was a room he had protected for over a decade. A room filled with traces of Yuan, a room where memories of Yuan were layered… The darkness that had been his only comfort was all gone. The room, which had been covered in reddish-brown, was now excessively bright.

“Is this how you want to get revenge on me?”

Marius asked as he closed the door. Yuan sneered, one corner of his mouth pulling up.

“You shouldn’t think of something like this as revenge, old man.”

As he said that, Yuan shot magic at Marius.

“Ah, my foolish and cute Yuan… Whatever magic you use now, the magic you use can only go to the Duke, not me.”

“I know.”

Yuan grinned. Something was ominous. Marius looked at Gillen inside the holy prison. A strong protective shield was wrapped around Gillen. It was the same shield that Yuan had personally broken earlier.

“A silly trick.”

Marius smiled benevolently. To think of reflecting protective magic onto Gillen instead of attack magic.

“But this kind of deception is useless. You can cast protective magic directly on the Duke if you want. It won’t be of much use as long as he’s in my prison, though.”

“Marius. You’ve been in the position of High Priest for too long. Even a monkey falls from a tree.”

Gillen smiled and grabbed the iron bars of the holy prison with both hands. Marius’s smile shattered. Was Yuan’s protective shield strong enough to withstand his prison condensed with his divine power? He opened his eyes wide and poured more of his own divine power into the prison.

But it was a strange thing. The more he used his divine power, it wasn’t Gillen’s life force that was being absorbed, but rather Marius’s chest felt tight and his strength seemed to diminish. And not long after, Clink, the bars of the birdcage broke with a clear sound.

“I told you. I received a divine revelation.”

A divine revelation called the original novel, you son of a bitch. Gillen muttered that inwardly as he stepped out of the birdcage and once again showered Marius with aggressive pheromones.
