Cold City Romance Chapter 19.4
Cha Dokyung shook the car keys and said.
“Aren’t you tired? I’ll drive you to the airport.”
“There’s someone waiting outside to drive, so it’s fine.”
“Still, since I won’t see you for a while, I should at least see you off.”
“Your body doesn’t feel well, so rest deeply. Even in the car, I have a lot of things I need to handle separately, that’s why.”
“…”
“Instead of that, how about giving me a farewell kiss before I go?”
Cha Dokyung slipped both hands between his waist gap, wrapped his hands around his waist, and after leaning into his embrace and innocently pressing his lips with a ‘smack!’, it was Hyun Jaehwi who instead became aroused and pounced.
The man, impatient with the kiss like a madman, sequentially and devotedly kissed Cha Dokyung’s lips, nose bridge, cheeks, forehead, and eye corners. Hyun Jaehwi inserted his tongue into Cha Dokyung’s mouth as if regretful, and tangled it deeply and densely to the point where he couldn’t breathe.
“Haa, ugh…! Stop!”
When Cha Dokyung struggled, he grabbed his buttocks over the jeans and slipped his hand inside the pure white T-shirt. Following the touch groping the soft chest, Cha Dokyung panted roughly and flinched.
“Jaehwi-ya, wait a moment, haa…! Stop, huh…! Kneading.”
The angular hard body in the officer’s uniform held him embraced and did not let go, clutching the buttocks that were lifted up tightly over the jeans.
“Don’t wear jeans! Huu… If you don’t want aroused guys lining up behind you.”
Ah, if he doesn’t wear jeans, what the hell is he supposed to wear.
“Hyun Jaehwi, if you don’t want aroused omegas lining up behind you, then you don’t go around wearing that uniform!”
…Fuck, you don’t go around wearing that damn sexy officer’s uniform.
Hyun Jaehwi embraced Cha Dokyung and burst into bold, audible laughter. Cha Dokyung, not backing down, clutched his firm upper arm, glared sideways with a crooked gaze, and said.
“Hyun Jaehwi, aren’t you too oblivious?”
Cha Dokyung, who had been heaving, finally pushed away the man pouncing as if to devour him and calmed him down.
After catching his breath for a moment, he asked him.
“You didn’t tell me when you’re coming back to Korea.”
“How long can you wait? Tell me, and I’ll adjust to that.”
“…Can I really not go to America to see you? Even if it’s once every few months…”
Hyun Jaehwi, who approached Cha Dokyung’s side, pressed his sexily straight hard nose bridge to his ear and said in a low voice.
“Wait three months in Korea.”
“…Three months?”
“Yes, exactly three months.”
“When you come back then, how long can you stay in Korea? Do you have to go back to the organization right away after a few days like now?”
“…”
“If, if I get pregnant… You promised to stay with me.”
The man hesitated for a moment and then, as if resolving something, answered in a serious voice.
“Listen carefully. I’ve been assigned to Korea for the second half of this year.”
“…”
“After I return to Korea in three months, from then on, I’ll be serving continuously in Korea, not America.”
“…”
Hyun Jaehwi pulled out from the inner pocket of his straight officer’s uniform chest an ID card containing genetic trait information that proves his identity and showed it to him.
He slowly traced the special identity card and accurately explained his affiliation and name to Cha Dokyung.
“The organization I belong to is the Central Control Intelligence Agency, an international military organization, and as written here, the international common name is abbreviated as ‘CID’…”
“…”
“The East Asia branch of the international Central Control Intelligence Agency ‘CID’ will complete its establishment and be fully completed in Korea in July this year.”
“…”
“In three months, I will be dispatched to Korea as a field-grade officer along with the executives to coincide with the founding of the East Asia branch.”
“…”
“The reason I came to Korea for my older brother’s wedding was for the final inspection and tour to check if the country preparation was properly done.”
It was the first time he had accurately revealed his work and affiliation, which he called classified, by pulling out his identity card and explaining it himself.
Cha Dokyung asked back in surprise. More than classified matters, what Cha Dokyung was curious about was something else.
“You’re not going back to America anymore… From now on, you’ll keep living in Korea and serve here, right?”
“I will be much busier than you think. Probably, business trips to the United States, the organization’s home country, and the East Asia region will continue without a moment’s rest. But my jurisdiction will be based in Korea, covering three East Asian countries. At least, our meetings will be free in Korea.”
“If I wait just three months, from then on, we can keep living like this in Korea without separating?”
“If your feelings don’t change during those three months.”
Cha Dokyung sighed and glared at him.
“You’re really mean.”
“…”
“I said to trust me, and if you can’t, let’s have a child and get married as you want. You still can’t trust me?”
“It’s an old occupational disease of mine not to trust anyone… From the age of seventeen, I was trained with brainwashing that I must not trust anyone, so I don’t trust anyone. It’s even harder to trust someone who has betrayed me even once because of my identity.”
“…What?”
Hyun Jaehwi, with a stiff face, held Cha Dokyung’s milky nape soothingly as if consoling his serious expression, pulled him toward himself, and gently kissed his hair and forehead.
“I’m sorry, it was a joke. Now, I truly trust you. That’s why I’m showing this to you directly.”
Hyun Jaehwi shook the ID card containing his genetic identity. His cool eyes narrowed, and he whispered softly.
“This isn’t a matter of believing or not. For a beautiful person like you, whom everyone covets, it’s natural that you can’t let your guard down…”
“…”
“What if, the moment you look away, some other guy eyes you covetously? What if he deliberately pounces on you to try to break the haughty Cha Dokyung once, and even if rejected, harbors resentment and tries something shameless?”
“…”
“So, I will never let my guard down with Cha Dokyung.”
The two crossed the front garden toward the entrance of the forest villa.
With the cool scenic valley as the backdrop, the scenery of this vegetable garden and garden that the two director couples had put effort into was so peaceful and warm that Cha Dokyung did not spare the trouble of hiring a gardener directly and periodically maintained the villa’s garden.
What had changed from before was that, unlike the previously open one, to prevent intrusion by outsiders, he had installed a closed high fence around the outdoor garden’s perimeter and an electric gate for security.
The fresh morning spring sunlight poured down on the two heading toward the entrance of the Hwachon forest villa. The sounds of grasshoppers and starlings rang out refreshingly, as if washing their ears. The air in the forest was crisp with the fresh spring scent.
Cha Dokyung saw him off to the garden entrance and discovered blue violets in full bloom now that it was spring. Every time he saw that fresh blue flower, Cha Dokyung had thought of him countless times in this place.
“There are people I really want to show you next time.”
The simple image of that couple, a boy and a girl, inserting violets into each other’s ears was vivid in his eyes.
“The original owners of this house… One is an actor like me, and the other is the only director in this industry whom I’ve respected and followed since my debut, and when I first came here, that couple was so enviable that it brought tears to my eyes.”
“…”
“So, I started thinking that I want to live in a place like this with you, simply cherishing and relying on each other over a long time, just like you and that couple.”
“…”
“You’ll probably like them too. Even after passing middle age, they are still like simple boys and girls who only know each other…”
Jaehwi, people as unstained, righteous, and pure as you.
“Introduce me to them next time you come. I want to thank them separately.”
Cha Dokyung stopped his steps.
Under the clear and crisp spring sunlight, he bent his waist and plucked a vividly blue violet. Cha Dokyung inserted that blue flower into the ear of Hyun Jaehwi, who was much taller than him.
He confirmed with his large hand that the blue flower was hooked on his own ear and smiled broadly at Cha Dokyung as if he were lovable.
Hyun Jaehwi showed an innocent smile for the first time, breaking down his guard like in the old days. His chest trembled at the smile as bright as spring sunlight that he made. The man, who had become a complete adult with an unbreakable solid appearance, still knew how to smile as fresh and cool as a boy.
“You still smile like that.”
Hyun Jaehwi also bent his waist, plucked a white violet blooming next to the blue violets in the garden, and inserted it into Cha Dokyung’s ear. Cha Dokyung, with the white violet in his ear, also smiled innocently, folding the ends of his eyes with a white smile.
Cha Dokyung slowly traced with his fingertips his firm cheekbones, the sharply rising nose bridge, and the refreshing eye line. You are truly refined and wonderful, like a painting.
“You still smile so brightly and prettily like a boy. Your smile.”
The man with the white violet smiled innocently at the man with the blue violet.
“When you come back to Korea in three months, let’s have our first date then.”
“…”
“Let’s date and love normally, without caring about people’s gazes, us… I have so many things I want to do with you.”
Hyun Jaehwi, who reached the entrance, carefully pressed down the dress uniform hat he was holding in his hand so that the blue flower would not fall from his ear.
With the blue violet and the stylish angled officer’s hat matching the officer’s uniform pressed down, Cha Dokyung blushed his cheeks red once again. His heart began to pound as if it would burst with a fresh thrill like puberty.
The man curved his handsome long eyes attractively and whispered in a soft low tone.
“I’m looking forward to it. Dating is my first time…”
For a moment, he held his breath and gazed at him quietly. All your firsts being me feels piercingly precious.
“It’s my first time too.”
“…”
“It’s the first time in my life that I’m dating and loving the person I like.”
You are my first love, and this is my first romance with my first love.
The mature man with the violet in his ear smiled once more in front of Cha Dokyung with a boy-like fresh smile. As if he owned the world.
“I’m the lucky one.”
Not at all, I’m the real lucky one for meeting you.
“Jaehwi-ya… thank you.”
I like you, I like you so much.
My heart is so big that I’m afraid and worried that you might get tired of me.
Right before parting in front of the mansion entrance, with the heavy electric entrance door raised high like a wall in front of them, they last touched each other’s cheeks and faces as if imprinting the dear face with sensation in their hands.
The two, facing a short farewell of three months, seemed to have returned to boys suffering from the fever of their first love due to the heart-wrenching thrill and longing. Because to the two, each other was each other’s first love.
When the familiar pain of parting, though short, was felt at the tip of their hearts, only then could they truly realize that it was the fever of real love.
The pure and innocent laughter flowers of the two bloomed fully in the fresh spring sunlight. The boy with the white violet whispered to the boy with the blue violet with his red lips.
“I’ll make you smile so brightly every day from now on.”
“…”
“So, stay by my side forever.”
Hyun Jaehwi answered in place with a dignified and affectionate kiss that melted his breath. Still with the blue violet in his ear and the hat on, he gave a short salute.
“I’ll be back.”
