The house was so large that there was quite a distance from the drawing room to Amy’s room. Just as we almost reached Amy’s room, I saw my master’s car pulling into the yard spread out beyond the window.

Since my master would be waiting, it seemed best to quickly say our goodbyes and head down to the first floor. I quickened my pace and entered Amy’s room with Enoch.

Amy was sound asleep with a face like an angel. When Enoch gently shook her awake, her beautifully closed eyes slowly opened.

“Master, Didi says he is leaving now.”

“Didi’s leaving already…?”

Amy sat up and looked at me. I nodded and gave her a small wave.

“Can’t you stay just one more day instead of going…?”

But suddenly, Amy’s face crumpled, and she began to cry with little hiccups. I was at a loss, watching large teardrops fall from her eyes.

Just then, the sound of a dog barking came from somewhere. The sound came from quite nearby, so I turned around, puzzled, and a large dog came running in on all fours through the open doorway.

Its appearance was familiar. The same look as Eve, an ivory-colored body. The Spanic logo was drawn on its ear.

As soon as I recognized the identity of the large dog that had burst into the room, I reassured Enoch, who was shielding Amy and was wary of the robot.

“Enoch, it’s okay. That dog is a robot that Mr. William’s company is launching as a new product. But… why is it here?”

Watching Amy pet the robot, I asked my master.

“Why did you bring the robot dog?”

“To give to that little kid. If she plays with that, she’ll probably call you less.”

“You’re giving Amy the puppy?”

“I am. So stop calling for Didi now.”

Amy’s cheeks turned bright red as she hugged the robot dog, overjoyed. She was already so smitten with the robot dog that it seemed she didn’t even hear my master’s last words.

My master, who was watching the scene, handed Enoch a small booklet that looked like an instruction manual.

“It has a security function, so it’ll be good at protecting the kid. If it breaks down, contact the company.”

“As it happens, my master has been feeling particularly lonely lately. This is a wonderful gift. Thank you.”

It was the perfect guardian for Amy, who roamed the large house and could get into trouble at any moment. With this, perhaps Enoch, who always had to chase after Amy, could also relax a little.

“Who is the most important person to you, Enoch?”

“It’s Amy, isn’t it?”

Enoch remained silent in agreement.

“My master is the most precious person to me too. He’s mischievous at times… and does a lot of mean things, but I like all of that about my master.”

I continued, smiling lightly.

“What took you so long?”

“Didi! You have to come play again tomorrow!”

I turned around at the cheerful voice. Amy, who had come to see us off, was smiling brightly and waving her arms widely while being held in Enoch’s arms.

“Tomorrow…?”

As I waved back at Enoch and Amy, my master, from above, clenched his teeth and muttered quietly.

I pretended not to hear it and waved back at Enoch and Amy.

“That little kid is up to no good… Didi, you’re not seriously coming again tomorrow, are you?”

“If I say I’ll come, will you let me?”

“I’ll say it again, I have no intention of letting you sleep early. If you think you can come, then try.”

“Hmph…”

Pretending to be sulky, I stepped out of his embrace, and my master opened the car door for me. After waving one last time to Enoch and Amy, I got into the car.

The large mansion grew more and more distant. Through the window, the backs of Amy and Enoch could be seen as they went into the house. Only after they had completely disappeared from sight did I settle my body against the seat.

The moment I was sitting comfortably and looking out the window, white powder began to fall slowly from the sky. What looked like small, insignificant specks of dust soon became large snowflakes and began to pour down.

“It’s snowing…”

“Mr. William, it’s the first snow.”

The street on the way back home. A quiet space, cut off from the outside world. The white scenery of falling snow.
