Lilith opened the door to the prayer chamber and stepped inside.
To avoid being discovered, I passed through the ceiling of the chamber, peeking down with only my eyes to observe what was happening inside.
“Long time no see.”
When the owner of the voice pulled back her hood, her identity was revealed.
‘No way…’
The one waiting for Lilith inside the prayer room was none other than the ghost maid, Ella. She looked gaunt and worn out, as if she’d been through a great deal.
“Why are you only showing yourself now?”
When Lilith asked sharply, almost angrily, Ella replied,
“…That’s not something you need to concern yourself with.”
“I did everything you told me to do, but nothing has changed. This isn’t what we agreed on!”
Lilith raised her voice, as if she could no longer hold herself back.
“Just wait a little longer.”
“Even I could spout empty words like that.”
As Lilith’s anger flared, Ella’s lips twisted into a chilling smile.
“So it’s true… you’ve been playing me all along, haven’t you?”
“Well, maybe I have.”
“…I won’t let you get away with this.”
Lilith pulled a glass vial from her pocket, filled with what appeared to be holy water. But Ella didn’t so much as flinch at the sight of it.
“You really are quite foolish.”
Instead, she sneered at her with a mocking smile.
“Just answer my question. Why aren’t the other ghosts showing themselves?”
Lilith demanded.
“Honestly… do you really think I’d tell you that just because you asked?”
At Ella’s answer, Lilith didn’t hesitate and twisted open the cap of the glass vial.
“That won’t work on ghosts like me—”
Ignoring Ella’s words, Lilith splashed the liquid.
Chiiii—.
Ella had been brimming with confidence, but for some reason, the sound of flesh burning rang out.
“AAAAARGH!”
Smoke rose from where the liquid had touched, her skin turning blotchy and red as Ella screamed in agony.
“You’re the stupid one.”
“Aaagh!”
Ella collapsed to the floor and rolled about, writhing in pain.
‘Lilith… she’s bolder than I thought.’
When Lilith raised the vial once more, Ella pleaded desperately.
“D-Don’t! Please— I’ll do whatever you say!”
“…So even as a ghost, you can’t endure pain after all.”
“The other ghosts are just gathered somewhere else for a while. There’s no need to worry— ngh….”
Ella groaned, as if her entire body ached.
“You still haven’t answered where they are, or why they’re gathered.”
“Th-there. Over there.”
Ella raised a trembling finger and pointed behind Lilith. Lilith turned around to look in that direction.
But—
‘…!’
“Thanks for being such a fool again, Lilith Garrett.”
While Lilith’s gaze was turned, Ella run away in an instant.
“Hey!”
I hurriedly revealed myself and stopped Lilith as she tried to chase after Ella.
“Wait, Lilith! Lend me that for a moment. I’ll catch Ella!”
“…What? Evil spirit?”
Lilith frowned when she spotted me.
“Just trust me this once. No matter how fast you are, as long as you’re human, you can’t catch up to Ella… you know that.”
“How am I supposed to trust you?”
Lilith clenched her teeth as if she didn’t trust me. Standing at a crossroads, she tore at her hair. But then she glanced at her watch, realized there wasn’t time, and sighed.
“…I don’t expect anything from you. Got it?”
She held the glass vial out toward me.
“I hesitated too long. If I’d hit her twice, I could’ve immobilized her, but—stupidly…”
You used 〈Interact〉 on the glass vial.

I took the glass vial Lilith handed to me.
“No, you’re not stupid. If anything, you’re brave and bold. I’ve never seen anyone like you.”
Honestly, it was praise with a bit of embellishment mixed in.
Surprisingly, it seemed to work—Lilith’s eyes wavered slightly.
“Don’t feed me that kind of empty flattery.”
“How you take it is up to you. Anyway, I’m going.”
I grabbed the vial and flew outside.
Thump—.
As soon as I stepped out, Adolf was stamping the ground with his whole body, as if he had something to say.
“Evil Spirit! Were you there?”
“Adolf! Did you see the ghost maid who came out of this room?”
“Yes. I blocked her path with the weapons, but it had no effect at all. I told the weapons to follow her… but in the end, she slipped away.”
“…Hmm.”
I thought for a moment and then came up with a good idea.
“Adolf. Can I have your weapon friends try this?”
I showed the vial to Adolf. He sniffed it as if trying to figure out what it was, then stepped back as if he had identified it.
“This smell… it’s like holy water?”
“I think so. But it’s not ordinary holy water—it seems a bit different. It worked on that ghost earlier, after all.”
“Damn it. You want me to put that on my kids?”
Adolf resisted at first, but in the end, he had no choice but to agree to my suggestion.
“Damn it. This is for the greater good—the greater good!”
At Adolf’s command, the weapons approached, dipped themselves into the vial, and then pulled back out. If I let go of the vial, I wouldn’t be able to interact with items again until the day was over, so I held onto it tightly, afraid of dropping it.
“Good. Your weapon friends are definitely going to pull off something incredible.”
But Adolf was still grumbling. That mysterious holy water clearly didn’t sit well with him.
“Adolf. Did you see where the ghost disappeared?”
“The opposite hallway.”
‘…How on earth am I supposed to track it?’
Aside from the survivors and Basileon, there was no one else visible on the map, so this was a big problem. For now, I flew through the air, searching the corridor.
Sniff sniff—. The scent of the holy water hung heavily in the hallway.
‘There!’
The traces of holy water that Ella had splashed all over herself stretched along the corridor floor like a dotted line.
“There’s a trail. Let’s follow it.”
I flew, following the trail, alongside Adolf’s weapons that could also take to the air. Adolf, on the other hand, lagged far behind.
“Take it slow!”
The trail led beyond the walls of the workshop.
Following it further, the trail ended at the edge of the Dark Forest. Looking around, there was nowhere to hide. Not a single sign of life could be sensed.
“Doesn’t look like there’s anything here…”
Clink! Clink!
Following the source of the sound, Rapier gestured with its blade, signaling me to look in a certain direction.
“Rapier, what is it?”
Rapier flipped its body, pointing the tip of its blade toward the direction it wanted me to go.
“What’s there?”
I crouched down and examined the ground that Rapier was pointing at. Running the bottom of the vial over the soil, I felt something hard buried beneath.
“There it is!”
You used 〈Attack〉 on 〈Ground〉.

I then used another skill to lift and move aside the scattered branches and dirt. A massive iron door was revealed beneath.
‘This.’
I tried to squeeze my body through the iron door, but it wouldn’t budge.
“…It won’t go through.”
Creak—And just as I spoke the words aloud, the iron door slowly swung open.
‘…What the?’
The inside seemed to lead underground. It was a dark, eerie, and seemingly bottomless space that made me hesitant to descend. From behind, Adolf’s weapons flew closer, urging me to go down together.
“I know. I know already.”
Whoosh—flying through the darkness, I descended, following the irregularly carved stone steps that stretched endlessly. After a long time of going down, the steps finally ended, revealing a vast chamber.
The area was illuminated by flickering torches, casting an ominous glow. A gloomy and sinister atmosphere pervaded the chamber. At the center stood a statue of a woman. I recognized it immediately—it was the same beautiful statue I had often seen in the public hall.
‘Where on earth is this…?’
In front of the statue, Ella sat clad in a black robe.
“Ella.”
At my call, she jumped in surprise and quickly turned around.
“Who’s there!”
“It’s Evien.”
Ella stepped back as she spotted me.
“How… how did you get in here? There shouldn’t have been any way to open this door.”
“It… just opened, I guess?”
I answered halfheartedly while scanning the surroundings. It was so dark that I wasn’t entirely sure at first, but up close, my guess turned out to be correct. In the dark chambers lined up on either side, ghosts and monsters were trapped. Had some measures been taken to ensure they couldn’t escape? What was stranger, none of the ghosts or monsters made a sound.
“…So you’re the one who captured them?”
