“Think carefully, Evan. You might remember it someday, right?”

“I can’t recall anything. Honestly… not really…”

“Really, it’s so sad that I’m the only one who remembers everything, Evan.”

Lilith tried to persuade him as best she could, but Evan clearly didn’t believe her. Judging from their conversation, it seemed that Lilith knew this place was a world that endlessly repeated itself.

“I’m sorry, Lilith.”

“…”

Bang—.

Lilith opened the cabin door and walked out. Her eyes were glistening with tears, clearly on the verge of crying. I was a little taken aback, since this was the first time I had realized this fact. Then how on earth did Lilith figure out that this world keeps repeating itself? Watching the door that Lilith had closed behind her, Evan blinked.

“…Ha.”

Evan ended up alone. What perfect timing. Ever since becoming an evil spirit, I’ve felt this sense of duty to scare someone or play tricks—doing what fits my role.

“Yup!”

“….”

I tried to scare Evan, but he stood there unfazed, completely indifferent. I puffed myself up, preparing to really give him a fright, yet instead of being scared, he actually smiled.

“Everyone else is afraid of you, but I’m not.”

It definitely wasn’t like this in the previous game. Every time I tried to scare him, he used to jump in surprise.

“Are you really an evil spirit?”

And at Evan’s words, I couldn’t help but be taken aback for a moment.

“Th, then who else would be the evil spirit if not me?”

“…But to me, you just look like an ordinary lady.”

“What?”

I couldn’t understand what Evan was saying. An ordinary lady.

“W, what do I look like?”

“A lady with silver hair, purple eyes, and pale skin.”

I can’t believe it. I look different in Evan’s eyes.

‘But during the last game, he definitely saw me as an evil spirit.’

“Uh… That can’t be true.”

“Even if you didn’t float around, you’d look completely human. You’re not transparent like the other ghosts, either.”

“No! I’m transparent!”

That can’t be right. I’m an evil spirit. Did he just say I’m not transparent?

“Other people said you look like a blood‑soaked woman with messy hair.”

Evan’s description of me was nothing like that of an evil spirit. To him, I looked like an ordinary person. I had no idea how such a thing was possible, but one thing was certain—getting close to Evan would be much easier than I thought.

‘And then, little by little, I’ll get closer to the other survivors too!’

I immediately decided to persuade Evan.

“Mhm. That’s probably why everyone’s so scared of me! You see, Evan, I’m not that bad of an evil spirit. I’m actually a good ghost.”

“Hmm. It’s hard to believe you’re a good ghost, since you look so different on the outside?”

But it seemed Evan wasn’t going to trust me that easily.

‘So, I thought he was just a kind and clumsy one, but I guess that’s not quite the case?’

I wondered if his personality changed with each repetition of the game. Just as I was thinking about how to get closer to Evan—

“Wow! Butter garlic steak… tarts… apple pie…”

“What?”

Suddenly, Havel, who had been sleeping beside me, started mumbling food names in his sleep.

“Ugh… Even while sleeping, he’s thinking about food.”

“Evil spirit, how do you know Havel?”

“I saved him last time when he almost got killed by Basileon.”

“Ah, that makes sense. Havel was defending you in front of Lilith. He said you’re a kind spirit who gave him food.”

That’s what Mary told me last time.

“Well, it’s not wrong, but… did you really leave out the most important part?”

“I heard it was thanks to you that he got to have the afternoon tea set.”

“…”

It was absurd, but well, as long as Havel’s involvement had a positive effect, that was enough.

Growl—.

Suddenly, in the middle of the conversation, a full-blown concert erupted in Evan’s stomach.

“What? You starved?”

“…Not just me, everyone.”

“But why is he so chubby?”

For someone who hadn’t starved, Havel was plump and oily, like someone who’d been well-fed.

“I don’t know either.”

“Where do you keep your belongings?”

“Just over there in the corner.”

“Is Havel’s stuff there too?”

“No, he always carry them with him.”

I searched around the sleeping Havel. Looking closely, Havel was resting his head on what looked like a pile of heavy sacks.

‘This b*stard…’

It was obvious at a glance that he was hiding food. I wanted to take the sack, but it felt like a waste to use my once-a-day skill for it.

“Evan—I’ll wake him up, so you take the sack.”

“…What?”

Looking around for something useful, I noticed a wooden water barrel filled to the brim.

“What’s that water? Drinking water?”

“It’s water fetched from the stream; we’re using it for cleaning.”

I used another skill to lift the water container into the air.

Splash! Thud!

You used 〈Attack〉 on 〈Havel Acron〉.

〈Remaining Uses: 9〉

“Whoa!”

Havel, who had been freely enjoying himself in his dream, woke up startled by the spilled water.

“Hurry up and grab that!”

Evan threw himself at it and grabbed Havel’s sack.

“Hey, that’s mine! Give it back!”

While Havel slowly chased after Evan, I found a kitchen knife sharp enough to cut the sack.

You used 〈Attack〉 on the 〈sack〉.

〈Remaining Uses: 8〉

Screeeech—.

Ingredients spilled out of the sack pile. Emergency relief crops, such as potatoes and sweet potatoes, and vegetables. And a heap of good-looking bread came tumbling down

“Havel, you’re not planning to eat all this food by yourself, are you?”

“You always tell me to eat just a little….”

Havel said, dejectedly.

“Even so, you’re the only one hoarding and eating while everyone else is starving? Don’t you have any conscience?”

I walked up to Havel and said.

“D, don’t be angry…”

Evan, Mary—everyone looked weak. The same went for Lilith, who had run off earlier. At this rate, they wouldn’t even have the strength to escape in the middle of the night. The most important thing in survival mode is to make sure you eat your meals properly and on time.

“Ha… I’ll show you where to find food, so everyone follow me.”

“Chomp chomp.”

“…What the?”

I turned around, thinking it was Havel picking up and eating the fallen food, but it was Mary.

“…The noise woke me up, and what the heck!”

Munch munch. Gulp.

Havel was picking up and eating the fallen food just like Mary, while Evan just swallowed hard beside them. I couldn’t help but sigh and spoke to Evan.

“Eat it too, Evan.”

“No matter what, even as a gentleman, you can’t really pick up and eat food that’s fallen on the floor….”

“With a murderer lurking around, who’s got the luxury to worry about appearances? Eat, unless you want to starve to death!”

“….”

In the end, Evan also started eating the food that had fallen on the floor. Somehow, seeing them hastily picking up and eating the fallen food made them look a little pitiful.

‘As expected, this stagnant water has to come to the rescue.’

I slipped in and said.

“Wait. Leave some for Lilith too, guys.”

At my words, Evan and Mary dusted off their hands and got up, but Havel pretended not to hear.…I grabbed a rock from outside.

Thud!

You used 〈Attack〉 on 〈Havel Acron〉.

〈Remaining Uses: 7〉

“Ow! It hurts… I’m gonna die. Don’t hit me with a rock…”

“It’s fine. You won’t die with that toughness of yours.”

I put the rock down and scanned the area. Hmm—I can’t help worrying about Lilith, who’s probably alone somewhere! Anyway, I had to get all the survivors out alive and escape this game.

“All of you, follow me. I’ll make sure you get to feast today.”

I led the three survivors, excluding Lilith , and showed them the locations of items hidden throughout the Ravenwood Duchy.

“Check carefully under this rock. Over there, there’s a chest, so try opening it.”

Thanks to my help, the survivors were able to get precious desserts like cake. They also gathered a lot of basic ingredients, such as chicken, eggs, flour, oats, and fruits.

“Oh my! How did we end up with so much food…”

Mary smiled brightly as she organized the ingredients in the shelter. Havel, exhausted from running around everywhere, had collapsed and fallen asleep again.

“Havel! You should help with the organizing, what are you doing!”

As Mary threw a fit, Havel glanced at me and got up.

“Hng…”

“Well, I can’t fully trust you yet, but… thanks, Evil Spirit.”

The polite Evan thanked me on their behalf. As I nodded, I felt a cold breeze seep through above my head, followed by an inexplicable chill.

‘What’s going on? Did the roof get torn off?’

I absentmindedly looked up at the ceiling…

‘What is that?’

Evien Montrose. Don’t forget the rules.

‘…!’

There, I saw a sentence written in a grotesque, dark red script. It looked like a warning message from someone directed at me. Suddenly, my body began to tremble.

‘Don’t… forget the rules?’

I looked at the sleeping Havel and the two survivors standing there. Aside from Basileon, who plays the killer, the only beings in this world who could write were the four survivors. As for non-human entities…The ghosts of the Duke’s Castle could not touch anything unrelated to their assigned duties, and the monsters didn’t possess intelligence high enough to write. In the end, the culprit who wrote those words had to be one of the four survivors.
