Please Give Me A Kiss, Healer! Chapter 86
‘Why is that guy here?! Don’t tell me he’s been waiting for me?’
Jiwoo, who had run into Kang Jae-gyu, pressed herself tightly against the wall of the hallway.
“Why are you so surprised? You’re making me embarrassed.”
Kang Jae-gyu smirked and took a step closer.
Jiwoo quickly scanned the hallway.
But unfortunately, there was no one else from any team passing by.
“Who are you looking for?”
“Ah, I’m not looking for anyone.”
His sharp, intimidating eyes flashed.
“Not looking? Like hell you aren’t. I can hear your eyeballs rolling from here.”
‘Ugh, why is he suddenly acting like this when he ignored me earlier!’
You could call it an ingrained fear.
Even though she knew Kang Jae-gyu couldn’t actually hurt her, she still couldn’t help being afraid of him.
“Damn it… over something like this, I—”
“W-what did I even do?”
“What, you really don’t know? Or are you just that shameless? Same guild, same team—fine, let’s go with that. But what the hell were you thinking, sneaking all the way here like this?”
That was what Jiwoo wanted to say.
What kind of grudge did she have with Kang Jae-gyu in a past life to keep running into him like this?
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. If I had known you were coming to the Donghae Guild, I would’ve told the team leader and skipped the raid!”
“…So Jae-kyung sunbae still doesn’t know? About you being that rescued dungeon healer?”
“I never told her, so of course she doesn’t know. It’s not in my personnel record either because of the Victim Protection Act.”
Jae-kyung only knew that Kang Jae-gyu had been disciplined—she didn’t know Jiwoo was involved.
Kang Jae-gyu frowned, his already unpleasant face turning even harsher.
“Then why did she kick me out? If it wasn’t even because of that so-called victim protection…”
Jiwoo cut in bluntly.
“Why do you say ‘kicked out’? You left the guild on your own.”
“Damn it, you’ve been talking back nonstop since earlier!”
Kang Jae-gyu raised his hand.
It looked like he might strike her any second—but Jiwoo instead lifted her chin.
No matter how scary he was, closing your eyes in front of an enemy was something only amateurs did.
‘You have to watch the movement if you want to dodge.’
Jiwoo, who had trained taekwondo since childhood, knew this well.
As she stared him down, something felt off.
‘Wait… why is his posture so unnatural?’
Kang Jae-gyu was strange.
His mouth twitched slightly, and his stance was stiff—like he was frozen mid-motion, not quite committing to the strike.
Jiwoo quickly realized something.
‘Am I not the only one who’s scared?’
Could it be… he was actually intimidated by her?
Come to think of it, Jiwoo wasn’t just some E-rank healer. She was an S-class-level hidden figure with guild leader backing.
Right now, she was more like—
‘A herbivore. Trying to puff itself up to look bigger when threatened.’
Maybe he had pretended not to recognize her earlier, and now came back to intimidate her because he was scared.
Jiwoo clenched her fist, preparing a “10-ton punch.”
Fortunately, her guess seemed right—Kang Jae-gyu lowered his hand first.
“Consider yourself lucky this time. Damn it… walk carefully at night.”
“…At night?”
Given everything happening lately, she was already on edge because of news about incidents at night.
‘If I back down here, he’ll start treating me like before.’
She didn’t want to be treated like that anymore.
Veins bulged on Jiwoo’s forehead.
“Hey, do you think I’m trying to live quietly by faking a hunter license for no reason?”
“What?”
Jiwoo quietly pulled out her staff.
One was the guild leader’s staff, the other was Kang Woo’s staff.
She waved Kang Woo’s staff slowly, whispering ominously.
“See that bright red mana stone? I’ve actually stained this staff with a lot of blood. I changed it and decided to live properly after getting out of prison… but the world just won’t help me, will it?”
“You, you… don’t tell me you’re from the hunter prison…?”
“Are you stupid? Is that brain just for decoration?”
Jiwoo tapped his shoulder with the staff.
With two extremely expensive-looking staffs, her lie sounded surprisingly convincing.
“Be careful walking at night. If something hits you on the back of the head with a staff, just assume it was me, okay?”
Kang Jae-gyu’s face turned pale in real time. Seeing that her bluff was working, Jiwoo slipped past him.
Then she hurried back toward the meeting room.
‘Is he following? Is he following me? Is he behind me?!’
Her light green eyes darted wildly.
Heart pounding, she returned to her teammates.
Luckily, she spotted Cha Tae-pyeong’s back near the entrance.
“Hahaha! It’s been so long! How’ve you been? Wow, you all look great—fresh air really does wonders!”
“Yeah, the seaside is nice. Tae-pyeong, you should quit the guild and come here too.”
“That’s not how it works. I have to follow my Jae-kyung wherever she goes, haha!”
Cha Tae-pyeong was chatting with the Donghae Guild team leader.
‘If I stay near a hunter, he won’t touch me!’
Jiwoo quickly ran to his side and hid behind his massive back like a wall, finally feeling safe.
“Cha Tae-pyeong Hunter.”
“Ah, Jiwoo! Perfect timing. I was just about to introduce someone.”
“Introduce someone?”
“I told you at the last gathering—my humor club member. Wait a sec.”
True to his wide network, Cha Tae-pyeong had acquaintances everywhere in the Donghae Guild.
He turned and called out to someone in the distance.
“Hey! Hunter Kim, come here for a second.”
He whispered to Jiwoo. A friendly-looking man approached.
“This is the kind, diligent younger guy I told you about. He’s in the Donghae Guild, tank class like me and Il-guk.”
The man looked strangely familiar.
‘Have we met before?’
Jiwoo narrowed her eyes, searching her memory.
Who was it?
He looked so familiar…
“Huh? Do Jiwoo? Jiwoo, is that you?”
“B-big brother Cheolsu?”
