Jiwoo sincerely shouted,

“Help me!”

[…Just hold on a little longer. Hunter Cha Taepyeong and I are approaching the Kraken’s weak point.]

Either way, for the two of them to get close to the Kraken, Jiwoo had to keep its attention on herself.

She tried her best not to look down and tightened her core.

The sharp air sliced past her hair like a blade.

‘First, I have to feel the wind.’

If she just let her body follow the flow of the wind and relaxed completely…

“I’ve got it!”

Jiwoo finally found her balance. She straightened her body and tucked her arms and legs tightly against her sides.

All that construction work had been worth it—it had built up her core muscles.

‘Now… I just need to make that thing chase me.’

A way to completely monopolize the Kraken’s attention so it wouldn’t even think about the other hunters approaching it.

At the moment, only one idea came to mind.

“Activating skill, [Translation].”

Skill

Translation (currently active)

= Enables communication with monsters.

Effect: +10% affinity with all monsters.

“Target: Corrupted Kraken #3.”

[This target cannot be affected by the Translation skill.]

‘Tch, figures.’

After experimenting on various monsters in dungeons, Jiwoo had come to one conclusion.

There were two different kinds of monsters.

‘The ones whose race is listed as [Demon] aren’t affected by my skills.’

Translation didn’t work.

Healing didn’t work either.

They were driven by endless murderous intent toward humans and charged at hunters without hesitation.

On the other hand, the gentle members of her household…

‘Honestly, it’s a miracle they don’t just wander off and get beaten up somewhere.’

It was definitely the right choice to take them into Our Home. They’re all way too kind.

Based on her experience so far, even if Demons couldn’t be translated, they still seemed capable of understanding the general tone of what was being said.

So, for example…

“Hey, you octopus-head!”

“—GRAAAAAAAH!”

“Quit crying, you ugly freak!”

“—GRAAAAAAAAAAH!”

“You know what? I’ll slice you into sashimi and dip you in chili sauce! With a head that big, I’d have food for a whole month, you bald octopus!”

“—GRAAAAH! GRAAAAAAAAAAAH!”

The taunting worked wonders.

The word “bald” had apparently pressed the Kraken’s rage button.

Every single one of its tentacles lunged toward Jiwoo.

Thanks to that, Yoo Jaekyung and Cha Taepyeong were finally able to close in…

But—

“Somebody save meeeee! Aaaahhh!”

Jiwoo found herself fighting for her life against gigantic tentacles attacking from every direction.

The Whitebird Flight skill kept her airborne…

But she had almost no control over which direction she flew.

How many times had she crossed the line between life and death?

Far below, she finally spotted Yoo Jaekyung and Cha Taepyeong reaching the Kraken.

Living up to her reputation as a promising A-rank damage dealer, Yoo Jaekyung tore straight through the Kraken’s weak point in a single strike.

With a deafening shriek, the Kraken’s enormous body collapsed.

“Deactivate Whitebird Flight!”

The instant her feet touched the ground, Jiwoo sprinted toward Shin Ilguk.

She had spotted him earlier while drifting through the sky, lying there gravely injured.

“…Urgh… Hunter Do Jiwoo.”

Shin Ilguk was curled up on the beach, far from the cliff.

Blood poured from a critical wound on his shoulder, but as expected of a sturdy tank, his life didn’t appear to be in immediate danger.

“Ilguk, stay with me! [Heal!]”

Rippling golden light flowed into Shin Ilguk’s body.

After a few moments, he slowly forced his eyes open.

“Hunter… Do Jiwoo? The Kraken…?”

“It’s okay. Team Leader took care of it. Can you stand?”

“Yes… ngh…”

Shin Ilguk twisted painfully and barely managed to sit up.

“Take it slow. [Heal!] [Heal!]”

“Thank you very much, Hunter.”

“Don’t mention it. It’s only natural that I do this.”

Jiwoo smiled warmly as she helped him to his feet.

After casting several more heals on the pitiful-looking man, she was about to support him when—

Shin Ilguk frowned.

“What… is that?”

“Hm? What is?”

Jiwoo followed his gaze.

Far beyond the horizon, she saw five tiny black dots.

‘Don’t tell me…’

A tidal wave of dread crashed over her.

As the dots steadily grew closer, she activated a skill.

“[Holy Eyes!]”

“…What kind of insane world is this?”

They had risked their lives to barely kill one Kraken…

And now five more had just respawned?

Jiwoo usually tried to watch her language, but this situation made it impossible not to curse.

‘There’s no way we can fight them. We have to run.’

Fortunately, the new Krakens were still far from the shore, giving them enough time to escape.

Grinding her teeth, Jiwoo helped Shin Ilguk to his feet.

Cha Taepyeong’s voice came over the communicator.

[Jiwoo, did you find him?]

“Yes! I’m taking Ilguk and running! Seriously, how are there five more Krakens—”

[Not that!]

“Not that?”

“Then what?”

What else is there? Another monster?

Just as Jiwoo stood there blinking in confusion—

A low voice came from behind her.

“Jiwoo.”

A voice she could never fail to recognize, even from a hundred meters away.

“Kangwoo!”

Jiwoo turned around with a radiant smile.

The handsome man standing there had ash-gray hair fluttering gently in the wind, and sunset-red eyes that glowed like burning embers.

Seo Kangwoo.

Once again, he had appeared in the dungeon to save her.

“How did you get here so fast? It hasn’t even been thirty minutes since I sent Dongsik!”

More than happiness, she felt astonishment.

The favor she’d asked Dongsik when sending him back to Our Home had simply been to deliver a message to Kangwoo.

She figured Kangwoo would gather the hunters near the Gate and organize a rescue team.

She had never expected Kangwoo himself to arrive this quickly.

Unless he’d already been nearby, it should have been impossible.

‘Don’t tell me… he actually followed me all the way to the East Sea?’

Jiwoo’s eyes shook with disbelief.

Kangwoo walked toward her at an unhurried pace.

As always, he was breathtakingly handsome.

But Jiwoo noticed the faintest trace of displeasure on his face—so slight that only she could tell.

“Kangwoo… no, Mr. Seo Kangwoo.”

“Yes, Jiwoo.”

He answered immediately.

At the same time, he casually pushed Shin Ilguk—whom Jiwoo had been supporting—aside and smoothly took his place next to her.

“G-Greetings, sir!”

Shin Ilguk belatedly saluted him.

Kangwoo acknowledged the salute with a slight nod before turning all of his attention back to Jiwoo.

“Jiwoo, I’ve missed you very much as well.”

“I… missed you?”

“Yes. Didn’t you tell me I would?”

“Huh? I said something like that to you?”

“Yes. In a text message.”

Ah… don’t tell me.

Just before leaving for the East Sea, she had agonized over whether or not to send a certain text.

It flashed through her mind.

Don’t skip your meals just because I’m not there. Make sure you eat properly, okay? I’ll be back soon! I’m sure you’ll miss me a lot.

Wait… why did that actually send?!

Jiwoo grabbed her head in horror.

But the message had been sent a week ago.

It was far too late to unsend it now.

“I missed you very much too, so I came running.”

Kangwoo gently smoothed down Jiwoo’s hopelessly messy hair.

Then, smiling with dazzlingly affectionate eyes, he leaned in and whispered quietly enough that Shin Ilguk couldn’t hear.

A question guaranteed to make Jiwoo panic.

“By the way, Jiwoo… who’s Cheolsu?”
