Divinity.

I contemplated the power seated in the deepest part of my heart—the source of my soul and the core of my mental image.

The divinity that had originally existed within me, and that I had also absorbed in Gairen, slowly began to grow the power it had been keeping curled up, following my guidance.

As expected, this is a difficult concept.

The divinity within me felt different from the divine power wielded by priests. Divine power was a force already given order, value, and function. This divinity, on the other hand, was the source of that power itself—a vast current that could become anything.

Divinity without a defined identity possessed destructive power capable of annihilating even gods.

And that was the trap.

If it can become anything, then it can also vanish into nothing.

Now I understood why the gods of the past had names, were conceptualized, and worshiped.

The core was belief.

Absolute belief—strong enough to move divinity itself.

“Is that magic? No… an ability?”

“What is he trying to do…?”

I ignored the voices around me and calmly unraveled the divinity, like tuning a musical instrument.

No instrument can be properly played if it isn’t tuned.

Divinity was the same. This power that could become anything needed time—time to receive my wish and change accordingly.

I want to heal Luka. Give me the power to purify corruption.

As I felt the divinity within me transform into a new power, I finally understood the principle behind how I had “purified” senior mages while performing.

A “miracle-like” effect born from the fusion of my belief, faith, and love for music.

Firm conviction refined the divinity. Powerful belief granted it identity. My love for music determined how the divinity would be used.

All of it flowed as naturally as playing the violin.

I steadied my breathing once more.

The cute little slime I met in my dream said it, didn’t it? To handle divinity well, above all else, ‘I’ need to be calm.

Even a performance falls apart if your breathing goes off.

Slowly inhaling and exhaling, I continuously refined my mental image so I wouldn’t be swallowed by the divinity I was controlling.

It felt like moving a nuclear bomb with chopsticks—something that could destroy the world if mishandled—but surprisingly, it was manageable.

When everything was finally ready, I reached out with my divinity-lit hand and placed it over Luka’s wound.

“Ugh.”

From Luka’s wound, I felt vile malice, horrific despair, the pain of a soul being torn apart, screams, resignation, and a will to destroy both oneself and the world.

They weren’t Luka’s emotions. They were likely from the poison he had been afflicted with—and the corruption it created, trying to spread those feelings.

—Let’s destroy the world together. A world like this is going to end anyway, so wouldn’t it be better to destroy it first?

Those base emotions crept up my arm, trying to corrupt me as well. A low, sinister voice echoed directly in my soul.

Destroy the world?

Do you know how hard I worked to get healthy again?! How I saved my dad?! How I finally got to be with Pession again?!

You think I’d destroy this world? Are you idiots?!

“Get lost. Disappear. And stop tormenting our Luka!”

The words fell like an absolute command. The black energy slithering up my arm like a snake vanished in an instant.

Paaaah—

Watching it shatter into light and fade away, I finally released the breath I’d been holding.

A stillness fell over the world, as if time itself had stopped.

Within that silence, I gently soothed the divinity—like a musician cleaning and storing their instrument—and slowly returned it to where it belonged.

When everything was over, Luka was staring at me with trembling eyes.

Eyes filled with awe, as if he were seeing something that shouldn’t exist in this world—mixed with a hint of fanatical worship.

Yeah… I do kind of feel less human now.

But I had no regrets.

I had saved Luka.

“I’m going to find Mehen.”

Even after being purified by my divinity, Luka was suffering from mana depletion, exhaustion, and physical damage, so he had received a healer’s treatment and fallen asleep.

After confirming that Luka was asleep, I came out and made my declaration in front of everyone.

“My mom’s missing. There’s no way I can just sit still.”

I had briefly considered fully healing Luka with divinity, but instinctively, I felt it wasn’t a good idea to use this power too much.

“So tell me everything you know about Madam Olivia’s disappearance. What exactly happened?”

The twins, Harun, and Pession were still staring at me in shock.

In the silence where no one could speak, Pession was the first to open his mouth.

With a complex look in his eyes, he asked me,

“Arell… that power was…?”

Only then did the twins and Harun speak up as well.

“It was overwhelming. I’ve never seen power like that before. Was it magic you learned from a grand mage?”

“No. It felt different from magic—almost like an ability.”

“Arell, are you okay?”

They all looked confused.

Understandably so.

How much should I explain?

I knew showing them divinity would confuse them, but they were people I trusted. I didn’t want to hide anything.

Still, explaining divinity was difficult—especially since I’d have to start with how its source was probably tied to my biological father…

“If it’s complicated, you don’t have to explain, Arell!”

“Yeah. We’ll just understand it our own way.”

Nod.

Seeing my hesitation, the twins and Harun tried to stop me.

I wasn’t hesitant because I didn’t want to say it—I just didn’t know how.

When I glanced over, Pession was watching me with a heavy expression.

Why does that make me want to comfort him?

“Give me a second. I’m thinking about how to explain it.”

Brain, full power!

And then—I came up with a brilliant one-line summary.

“It’s something similar to an ability I inherited from my biological dad, and it’s powerful enough to shake the world.”

Inherited from my biological father (true)
Similar to an ability (true)
Can shake the world (true)

Not a single lie—a perfect summary.

Of course, the twins and Harun looked even more conflicted after hearing it.

“…There’s an ability like that?”

“Well, considering how diverse abilities are, I guess something like that could exist…”

“An ability…”

They didn’t quite understand, but they’d watched me long enough to accept it quickly.

“If it’s Arell, nothing he does is strange anymore.”

“First magic, now some weird ability too.”

Harun gave me a thumbs-up.

Why don’t I feel happy?

Even then, Pession remained quiet, just watching me. I kind of wished he’d say something too.

As if he sensed my feelings, Pession met my eyes and spoke in a serious voice.

“It doesn’t matter what kind of power you have, Arell. What matters is that the Arell I know is right here. Right?”

“Yeah, Pession. I’m right here.”

“Good. That’s enough.”

Pession gently wrapped an arm around my waist.

From his shallow breathing and faintly trembling arm, I could feel his anxiety.

I held his arm tightly, trying to tell him not to worry—but the dark mood he gave off didn’t fade.

“Ahem.”

“We’re still here, you know.”

When I turned toward the twin with a so what? look, he stared back at me with an exhausted expression.

“So, Arellin. You’re going to find Mehen?”

Harun smoothly changed the subject.

“Ah—right. Yeah. I’m going to find him myself. If Luka was in that state, there’s no way Mehen’s okay.”

At my declaration, Pession tightened his hold around me.

“I can’t let you go alone. I’ll come with you.”

“Pession? Aren’t you really busy right now? You’re managing the elf delegation too. Will you be okay?”

“That’s…”

“I know. You’re worried about me, right? Then I’ll go with Harun.”

Pession’s expression grew even more dissatisfied. Apparently, that bothered him even more.

Gripping my waist firmly, Pession spoke as if he absolutely wouldn’t back down.

“I’ll… make it work. Somehow.”

His voice was tightly restrained.

“I’ll bother Father or ask Mother for help… This case is extremely important and urgent, isn’t it?”

Looking up at me, Pession pouted pitifully.

This jerk—how does he know I’m weak to that face?

“Arell. I want to go with you. Is it really not okay?”

…No, it’s okay.
