“Yeah. Do you want more guiding?”

“No, it’s fine. Let’s just go.”

If there was nothing else to do here, there was no reason to stay.

We gathered around Cha Eunhwi again and moved together.

A few seconds later, as the scenery changed in an instant, I had the same thought I’d already had several times.

Teleportation really is convenient.

Honestly, I didn’t think there was any ability more comfortable than that.

Cha Eunhwi wiped the sweat from his face and took a deep breath, looking pretty worn out.

Because I’d guided him earlier, it didn’t seem bad enough for him to take stabilizers, but he was clearly exhausted.

The stares from people nearby weren’t my imagination or paranoia.

I could almost hear my name—“Guide Yoon Hyeya”—being whispered. Yeon Dogyeong glanced toward where the sounds came from and said bluntly,

“Let’s go in quickly.”

I followed them without protest.

I used to think this place felt like a prison…
But seeing it again after a month, I wasn’t so sure.

Maybe because I’d stayed inside a gate, fully prepared to die.
Now it all felt like nothing special.

“This way.”

After passing security at the entrance and getting into the elevator, I let out a sigh.

They probably cleared out all my stuff.

They called me “missing,” but no one would’ve thought I was alive.

And it wasn’t just a month or two—it had been a full year. Leaving my things behind would’ve been stranger.

I could always buy new stuff, but I felt a bit sad knowing the photo album with my family pictures was probably gone.

Soon, the elevator stopped on the 7th floor.

Yeon Dogyeong stepped out first and walked straight to room 707, then turned to look at me.

I had to control my expression.

Because room 707 was my apartment.

As Cha Eunhwi, Lee Shinra, and I approached, Yeon Dogyeong entered the door lock code.

I flinched for a moment, but it wasn’t my old password.
Looks like they reset it.

The one who really got nervous was Lee Shinra.

When the door unlocked and Yeon Dogyeong opened it, he frowned at Shinra.

“What is it, Lee Shinra? You need the bathroom or something?”

“D-Dogyeong hyung… You shouldn’t just enter the password like that… This is Hyeya nuna’s place…”

At those hesitant words, Yeon Dogyeong finally checked my reaction.

I’d already expected other people to come in, so I wasn’t bothered.
Maybe he thought I’d be upset.

As the two started to clash, Cha Eunhwi explained.

“This is the place you used to live, Hyeya. The password was different before, but it was reset. Usually, when an esper or guide dies… their belongings are cleared out. But Dogyeong and Shinra caused a lot of trouble, so with the Director’s permission, the place was kept as it was. We learned the new password then, but we never came in without permission.”

…Was I supposed to feel grateful here?

I couldn’t even respond properly when Yeon Dogyeong hurriedly added,

“We really never came in. Not once. We just… stood in front of the door sometimes…”

“Y-Yeah. We even got reported for looking suspicious, but we really never went inside.”

…The more they explained, the worse it sounded.

Cha Eunhwi sighed and rubbed his forehead.

Honestly, whether they came in or not wasn’t that important, so I opened the half-open door and stepped inside.

It’s exactly the same as before I left on the expedition—
no, it’s even cleaner.

I wasn’t a messy person to begin with.

But on the last day, while rushing to prepare, the living room had been a bit chaotic. Now it looked like a brand-new place.

When I took off my shoes and went inside, the floor was spotless.

I opened the fridge, peeked into the room.

The fridge was empty.
The bedroom was perfectly clean.

There was even a faint, pleasant scent, like someone had been taking care of the place until recently.

I looked back at the three still standing at the entrance and asked,

“For a place that’s been empty for a year, it’s way too clean. Are you sure no one came in?”

“Yeah. We didn’t, but there’s a cleaning service. They probably came regularly.”

“Oh.”

That explained it.

I wasn’t uncomfortable or annoyed. Honestly, I liked it.
I thought I’d end up completely homeless.

That didn’t mean I wanted to thank Dogyeong or Shinra, though.

Still, them watching my reactions so carefully felt strange.

I looked around again and asked,

“…I’m not being monitored or anything, right?”

Before, they only checked computer and phone access logs. There were no cameras inside the house—but a year had passed.

Maybe something had changed.
Or maybe they installed something while I was being examined.

I couldn’t fully relax just because they were being kind now. There was too much regret.

At my worried question, Yeon Dogyeong shook his head hard.

“What monitoring? Never. Absolutely not.”

“Then why are you all watching me so carefully? Like you did something wrong.”

“Well…”

Yeon Dogyeong fell silent.

Judging from everything so far, they probably felt some kind of attachment.

They thought I was dead for a year.
Then I came back alive—but with no memories.

And now I talked to them normally. That probably made them want to act closer.

No chance.

I only came back willingly so I could run them around like hoops.

Today I was too busy figuring things out, but starting tomorrow—just wait.

I’d make them understand what “putting yourself in someone else’s shoes” really meant.

I stared at the three cramped in the narrow entrance, then waved my hand like I was shooing bugs away.

“You can go now. It’s distracting with you all standing there.”

“…Okay. We’ll go. Ah—if anything happens, contact me with this.”

Cha Eunhwi handed me his phone.

He carefully explained how to use it, then said goodbye again, his face full of regret and hesitation.

Just before the door closed, Lee Shinra rushed forward and grabbed me.

“N-Nuna. W-Wait a second. The password…!”

“What?”

“T-The door lock. The entrance password… I think it’d be better to change it. And, um… you need dinner too…”

Lee Shinra continued in a small, hesitant voice.

I almost brushed it off, but he’d pointed out something important.

The password could be changed right now—but what about food?

The fridge is empty. No ramen either…

There was a cafeteria inside headquarters.

Because gate raids could last any time, it ran 24 hours a day. The menu was wide, and the food was good.

But if I went there now, I’d become a spectacle.

More than that—

I don’t want to eat while looking at their faces.

I’d probably get indigestion.

Could they bring takeout?

Espers were sensitive, and food was needed during gate raids, so all cafeteria meals could be packed like lunch boxes.

But I couldn’t bring that up myself while pretending to have amnesia.

I waited, thinking one of them would suggest it.

Then—

“Don’t worry. I’ll cook and bring it to you.”

“…Okay… huh? Cook?”

I froze. I was expecting, “I’ll bring food from the cafeteria.”

At my confused response, Yeon Dogyeong jerked his chin and said,

“Cha Eunhwi is good at cooking.”

“Really? He doesn’t look like it…”

“Yeah… it is kind of surprising.”

“…What do you mean by that, Dogyeong?”
