“If we don’t get it, we don’t get it~ And why would it be because of you? If anything, it’s because all of us are lacking.”

“It’s not something I can take that lightly.”

“Oh my~ Is that so? Didn’t know you were greedy for awards too.”

“Stop it.”

Yulmu teased, scratching under Baekya’s chin gently.

“Is our Baekya perhaps the ambitious type?”

“Told you to stop, ha… Are you the type who’s asking to get hit?”

“Ack!”

Despite two warnings, Yulmu didn’t stop and eventually backed off only after getting hit once. Minseong, watching quietly, clicked his tongue.

“No learning ability whatsoever.”

Just then, Jihan stared intently at Baekya and spat out a word.

“Dreams are opposite originally.”

Meaning, the thing you’re worried about won’t happen, he reassured him. Maybe because of Jihan’s serious nature, Baekya somehow found his words believable.

“You think so…?”

“Yeah. Let’s go.”

It was time for the red carpet entrance. Jihan held out his hand.

* * *

– Wow Yooyeon real life’s visual is crazy

– DASE Red Carpet styling is super cool (All black suit group photo.jpg)

– Only Baekya is pink hair and the rest dyed? Brown hair was super handsome too ㅜㅜ Still wanted to see pink hair Jihan one more time ㅠ

– Kids definitely showed rookie vibes lol Even matching lines and foot shapes when taking red carpet photos

– Didn’t they say the kids are doing some special stage with a senior group today?

Korean tourists scattered all over Hong Kong gathered in one place. Boksoong and Shiyoon-bin, who hurried to dress up since morning, entered the venue early.

Ideally, they wanted to see the red carpet with their own eyes too, but the tickets Shiyoon-bin got were standing tickets. Unlike seated sections, standing admission began hours earlier, making the red carpet a pipe dream for them. Regrettably, they had to watch on phones.

However, U-App cutting off every 30 seconds only provoked their tempers.

“Ugh!”

“I’m giving up. Who knows when AIM will even come out. I’ll just watch the red carpet later when I’m back in Korea.”

Anyway, they’d be seeing the artists in the flesh soon enough. As luck would have it, their spot turned out to be right in front of the artists’ seating area!

Boksoong and Shiyoon-bin grabbed each other, unable to contain their excitement for a while.

As expected of standing sections, about 80% of the area was packed with hommas. It was basically a telephoto-zone. Sure, they couldn’t compete with DSLRs, but with the latest phone she’d bought a few months ago, Boksoong figured she could still get plenty of good shots of her bias.

Boksoong’s heart fluttered with expectation that she might capture a tremendous photo like Airport Baekya.

Time was passing 6 PM. Glancing at the 2nd floor, most seats were filled.

‘Finally meeting my bias!’

Although farther than the fan sign, step by step. Boksoong decided to slowly narrow the distance with her bias.

“Kyaaaaaa!”

A Chinese woman next to her suddenly started talking to her in Chinese, and Boksoong could only repeat ‘What?’—when a roar of cheers erupted. She turned toward the artists’ seats just as the girl group who’d entered first on the red carpet walked up onstage.

“Okay! Nihao!”

Shouting a final farewell, Boksoong stuck right next to Shiyoon-bin. AIM would naturally come up last. Since DASE were rookies, they would surely appear soon.

“Hey, isn’t that DASE over there?”

“Whoa!”

Spotting Baekya, Boksoong made a weird noise and covered her mouth. Baekya with cotton candy-like hair was coming up the stairs following Jihan.

“Ba-Baekya!”

Unconsciously calling her bias’ name, Boksoong found the slogan she didn’t even remember pulling unfolded brilliantly under her nose.

But the bias reacts to my voice…?

Baekya, heading to his seat, stopped walking and turned toward where Boksoong was.

“Yes?”

He even answered with wide eyes.

As Baekya met her gaze and glanced slightly downward, he caught sight of the slogan, its letters gleaming in the reflected light.

[Baekya-ya Biting Heart]

It was SweetBaek’s signature heart-gun slogan, rivaling Baeksang’s peach gun.

Cheong, following behind the hamster who’d stopped short, grabbed his shoulder.

“What are you looking at?”

Following his gaze, he saw the seven shining characters. Cheong broke into a wide grin and pointed at Bokssung.

“Go Baekya! Bite!”

A sunfish caught by aggro and the instigating baby wolf. Excited hommas could only snap continuous shots at the maknaes who were stopping instead of passing by.

“Baekya! Love yooou!”

Loud aggro love confessions followed. Boksoong drove a wedge into the soft-hearted sunfish’s heart.

Minseong, who sat down, was looking around at the lacking headcount, then discovered the maknaes still lingering near the stairs. Caught between Minseong rushing toward him and Boksoong, Baekya hesitated.

In the end, the sunfish shyly bit a heart and fled. Her bias hid himself in the most cornered seat, covering his now-red ears.

“Gasp! Baekya, Baekya did…!”

At the destruction of the impossible ‘fans never noticed by idols’ rule, something she’d never even dared to dream of, Boksoong staggered, gasping for breath.

The Chinese person she said goodbye to earlier approached again and spoke, but Boksoong barely noticed. Right now, she couldn’t hear anything at all.

“Someone you know?”

“Don’t know. Keeps talking to me since earlier. Shiyoon-bin, I think my heart exploded and I’m dying…. What to do?”

“I am so jealous.”

Hugging the slogan, Boksoong wiped tears. Glory to SweetBaek.

JAMA opened with a grand theatrical percussion performance video. The names of the artists appearing at today’s awards ceremony burst onto the screen in time with the pounding drums. After a long wait, the show finally began, and hot cheers and applause rose from the audience.

As the video ended, the massive screen installed on the main stage parted, and the actor presenting the first award walked out.

“Nice to meet you, everyone.”

He was a male actor beloved by people of all ages. After briefly introducing himself, he continued with his prepared remarks.

“We spend many moments of our daily lives with music. At cafes, on the streets, and even right before falling asleep.”

He added that he personally loved music as well, and that it was an honor not only to see and hear the singers’ performances live like this, but also to present an award.

“Then I will present today’s first award.”

The man opened the red card in his hand.

“The first winner of this year’s TOP 10.”

Looking back and forth between the card and the opposite side, the man called the first main award winner.

“JAMA TOP 10. AIM.”

Tremendous cheers poured from the audience seats. As AIM sitting in the first row of singer seats stood up, junior singers around them offered congratulations.

Rose Day and Glassy from the same agency also stood up clapping, but DASE was nowhere to be seen.

“Hello, this is AIM.”

Yeonha bowed slightly toward the somewhat low microphone, trophy in hand.

“First of all, thank you for loving our music again this year. To our Markdoongies who always send us endless love and support—I love you so much.”

At his gentle smile, the cheers exploded as if they might tear the venue apart.

After finishing his thanks and greeting the fans, AIM returned to their seats. The JAMA logo filling the screen faded away, revealing a fairy-tale-like magic castle.

[The Kingdom of Dolls]

It was the entrance of the first artist to open the JAMA performances.

A dreamy intro melody.

Tightly shut castle gates.

The camera showing flashy videos for a moment slowly zoomed in on the back of someone standing in front of the door. Short red cape covering shoulders. The person with the hat over their head was blonde Yooyeon. It was a cute outfit matching the ‘Land of Dolls’ concept.

Ding- Diiing-.

As the clock at the top of the castle pointed to 12, bell sounds rang through the venue.

Yooyeon looked around as if looking for the source of the sound. A moment later, taking off his hat, he pretended to discover the camera only then, made dimples, and stepped aside one step.

The center of the screen opened, revealing the other members appearing. Leaving the spotlighted center empty, they spread out widely in a circle.

The members sat with their legs stretched out, backs to one another. As Yooyeon walked to the center, knelt, and struck the floor with his fist, a heavy sound was added, adding more weight to the song.

Lighting that initially shone only on Yooyeon now spread wide, illuminating the entire stage.

The prelude flowing out was ‘WANT ME’, DASE’s recent promotion song. Bouncing pluck sound, dreamy track, and overwhelming stage production added to feel like watching a performance of fairies living in a magic castle.

DASE performed choreography matching Yooyeon’s hand gestures like marionettes. The members, who had been performing seated choreography, rolled once across the floor and rose to their feet.

Even as they shifted formations, the choreography never stopped.

Then Baekya, who had been moving in the back the whole time, stepped into the center, forming the familiar late-stage formation of “WANT ME.”

– I wa-a-a-ant

A 4-octave high note went straight up without signs of difficulty. Daehwan, watching DASE’s stage from the singer’s seats, laughed without realizing it.

Hearing his dongsaeng’s laughter, Shiyoon looked to the side. His face also wore a purely pleased smile.

“Why are you laughing?”

“Just because. I want to have him.”

It was an answer tinged with a subtle madness. Thinking it over, it sounded rather unsettling, and Siyun licked his lips.

“…No crimes allowed.”

“Do you think I’m you, hyung? Go enlist or something.”

It was meant as a joke, but Daehwan had never once played along with his hyungs’ teasing. Shiyoon pretended to cry, saying he was hurt by cold words, and homma’s hands moved busily.

– Every morning waiting to open my eyes

Your day starts with me

Baekya, who exploded straight into the climax from the start, delivered his part with a slightly tense expression. With a hat on during the choreography that involved lying down and rolling across the floor, he’d nearly made a mistake—and his face had gone stiff.
