I was taught to watch the good stuff big and slow.

For a devoted fan, those words are practically a prayer—but I couldn’t exactly be thrilled.

‘Um, Goddess? What about preventing destruction? Saving the world?’

I’m not really one to talk, but don’t things have a priority order? No matter how you look at it, right now is clearly the time for a destruction-prevention skill.

Questions popped in my head like popcorn, but I forcibly silenced them all.

Remember. The novel I possessed into is <On the Brink of Destruction>.

‘Right, everything that goes wrong has a reason.’

As Gyeon Junhwi once said: a company doesn’t go under because of a recession. It goes under because there’s no CEO capable of steering the ship through one.

Likewise, this world didn’t end just because of the mastermind. The world ended because while the mastermind was doing their thing, the goddess was handling affairs like this.

While I was rationalizing it, a cascade of new translucent windows came flooding in.

Alright, time for analysis. I could roughly guess how the new skill worked, since there had been precursor symptoms.

‘It’s probably similar to that dream, right?’

Not long ago, I’d had an unusual dream. It happened right when I was curious about what had become of Yeom Juwan and Yeon Sora’s family.

At the time, I’d wandered around like a ghost haunting a film set, connecting clues that hadn’t been narrated in the novel to piece together the situation.

On top of that, I’d been able to zoom in on another cadet’s hologram window, and even control the speed of a refrigerator door closing. I’d watched it big and slow.

In summary, this was…

‘A cinematization skill!!!!!’

Scenes from the original that I’d only experienced as text, now viewable as 3D footage! For a devoted fan, this was the ultimate gift!

And for the record, this was on a completely different level from a novel getting a drama adaptation. This wasn’t actors performing—it was watching my babies act in real life!

‘The intimacy threshold even got lower?’

My existing skills, including the skill copier, had only worked on my top-ranked biases. But the cinematization ability was different.

It seemed to apply even to people like Professor Joo or Seong Hayul—people I was acquainted with but who didn’t make my bias rankings. The range of use had expanded significantly.

And it didn’t stop there.

‘Past and present? So… past means the original, and present means after I possessed, right?’

I’d need to actually use the skill to confirm, but the viewing range might have expanded too.

If so, this was an incredible skill!

‘Dear Goddess! Earlier, I was internally complaining about whether you might be a little, um, incompetent, and I have committed a sin worthy of death! I was too foolish to recognize such an insane skill when it was right before me. Thank you! I will work hard to prevent destruction going forward! Our Goddess is the best!’

I dropped to my knees in my mind and immediately offered my apologies, when a new question crept up.

‘But Goddess, this comes as a set of three, right?’

Past, present, future.

No matter how you looked at it, the composition demanded a three-piece set—but ‘future’ was conspicuously missing from my skill.

It felt like ordering a burger combo and receiving only the jumbo-sized cola and fries with no burger.

I mean, I was extremely grateful, but….

‘Where’s my burger? It’ll come later if I wait, right?’

I could wait as long as needed if it was coming eventually… and as if answering my question, a new window appeared.

【Abilities incompatible with your trait cannot be used.】

What was that supposed to mean?

I needed to analyze this, but not now.

Because Gyeon Junhwi was looking at me.

“Something wrong?”

“Hm? Why?”

“You don’t look so good…. Did something happen while you were receiving your rewards?”

I hurriedly minimized all the windows. I could think about this later when I was alone.

For now, let me focus on my babies!

“No, just a touch of motion sickness. It’s nothing.”

I waved it off with a casual excuse, but Junhwi’s eyes went wide and he practically jumped.

“What? Motion sickness? Since when?”

Why is he so startled?

* * *

Our relationship really must have changed.

At the mention of motion sickness, Gyeon Junhwi panicked and called for Yeom Juwan, who came sprinting over and started attaching every medical device he had to my body.

The atmosphere suddenly turned into an emergency room.

“Yeom Juwan! Send me Yeon Sora’s temperature and blood pressure records for the past two days too! I need to check for discrepancies!”

“Just sent them!”

“Food intake logs too! Oh, and run a blood sugar check! I’m going to start my analysis….”

Juwan’s overprotectiveness was nothing new, but I never expected Junhwi to join in. This was genuinely flustering.

“It’s just mild motion sickness….”

“Last time, you got worse during the transport phase too, remember? With your special constitution, problems might occur during teleportation!”

“That was a seizure, and right now I’m really fi—”

“Boram, elevate Sora’s feet for now! Higher than her heart!”

Everyone looked so seriously worried that I couldn’t bring myself to confess it had been fake.

While I lay there obediently playing patient, the remaining cadets arrived at the temple. When the last group of nine appeared, cheers erupted from all directions.

“They actually made it! Wow… this is really happening?”

“What, you thought it wouldn’t? Ki Hyeonmin was still there!”

“Still, you never know what could go wrong.”

“We had Ki Hyeonmin!”

Hyeonmin had stayed behind until the very end to ensure everyone’s safety. It was his own wish, and also the request of every cadet present.

‘My baby’s popularity is no joke!’

The voices around me were dripping with trust. My baby receiving the trust and expectations of all—I wanted to see it too!!!

“Sora, I told you to stay lying down. No operating the Drone Eye either.”

I was stuck playing patient. A filming ban had been issued, so I couldn’t even watch through the Drone Eye.

Meanwhile, Gyeon Junhwi, Yeom Juwan, Han Boram, and even Seong Hayul were basking in the cadets’ praise as newfound heroes—and I missed all of it.

I could hear everything with my ears open, but I couldn’t see it with my own eyes.

‘Note to self: no more faking illness.’

I was making that solemn vow when Ki Hyeonmin approached.

“I heard you’re not feeling well.”

“They already checked. It’s nothing.”

“Let me take your pulse for a moment.”

Hyeonmin grasped my wrist firmly and began reading my mana flow.

‘Hyeonmin is worried about me too, right?’

This overprotectiveness… honestly felt kind of nice. The downside was having to give up filming and watching live, but being treated like a VIP was so flattering I didn’t know what to do with myself.

After feeling my hand for quite a while, Ki Hyeonmin finally nodded.

“No issues.”

“See? I told you I was fine.”

“……”

But even after finishing his business, Ki Hyeonmin didn’t leave my side. His gaze, scanning me carefully, briefly fixed on my uniform pocket.

“What is it?”

“The gun you used—can I borrow it over the weekend?”

“The BB gun?”

“If it’s inconvenient, you don’t have to.”

“No, if you need it, take it!”

If my baby asks, I give!

The moment the request registered, my body had already fished the toy gun out of my pocket and presented it.

“There are only eight rounds left—need more? I can make some.”

“…No, this is enough. I’ll return it Monday.”

“You don’t have to return it. I can just buy a new one.”

“……”

“What?”

“You’re not going to ask why?”

“You wouldn’t tell me even if I asked.”

Hyeonmin stared at my face for a long moment, then tucked the toy gun into his pocket. After that, he suddenly spun around and presented his back to me.

“Get on.”

“?”

“You’re not feeling well, so I’ll carry you.”

“Really?”

“……”

I was startled by the piggyback offer dropping out of nowhere, but I decided to hop on before our Hyeonmin changed his mind. I scrambled onto his broad back and wrapped my arms snugly around his neck—and still couldn’t believe this was real.

‘Oh my god!!!! Ki Hyeonmin is carrying me on his back! What is happening?!’

But I had no idea where to put my face. In this position, my breath would hit the back of Hyeonmin’s neck. Turning my head outward would probably hurt my neck, though….

While I agonized over it, Ki Hyeonmin stood up abruptly and announced to Gyeon Junhwi.

“Just in case, I’m taking Yeon Sora to the medical team. Going on ahead.”

I didn’t get to hear Junhwi’s reply.

Because the sprint of fury had begun again.

‘Hyeonmin! Slow down!!! Motion sickness!!!!’

My scream never became sound. He was moving faster than a theme park ride, and I couldn’t bring myself to open my mouth.

By the time we reached the medical team, the fake motion sickness had become very, very real, and I was swaying like a drunk.

“What happened?”

“Is there another problem with Yeon Sora?”

“She says it’s motion sickness, but further examination is needed.”

Even as the world spun around me, I caught a glimpse of Professor Joo’s alarmed face. He was pulling some kind of golden bottle from inside his coat.

“Give her this first!”

“Professor! That’s a legendary-grade potion….”

“It’s my personal property! Give it to her!”

“But shouldn’t we run tests fir—”

While I lay there with my eyes closed against the dizziness, I felt someone’s hand. Then a liquid entered my mouth and slid down my throat with a thick, warm gulp.

And just like that, I drifted off into unconsciousness.

* * *

I opened my eyes again at 10 PM.

I was lying in my dorm room.

‘Wait, I’ve been asleep this entire time?’

I immediately checked my DMs—the group chat was overflowing with messages.

|Han Boram| S-Sora… are you still sleeping? Please reply when you wake up ㅠㅠㅠㅠ

|Seong Hayul| Calm down, the elixir potion makes you sleep for about 5 hours. When she wakes up she’ll actually feel way better than any of us!

|Han Boram| But still…

|Yeon Sora| I’m up!

|Han Boram| S-Sora!!!!!

Boram was sobbing via text while filling me in on what had happened. Apparently, while I was out cold from the potion, some shocking events had unfolded.

|Han Boram| Ki Hyeonmin carried you the whole way. Over an hour.

|Yeon Sora| At normal walking speed?

|Han Boram| Huh? Yeah!

So I’d been piggybacked at a normal pace, not a death sprint—but tragically, I’d been unconscious and had zero memory of it.

When we arrived at the academy dock, Professor Ban and the mad scientist unnie had been waiting for me. Apparently, there’d been a minor turf war between the research lunatics.

|Han Boram| I-it was scary….

|Seong Hayul| The atmosphere was pretty tense. Had no idea Professor Joo could get that angry.

|Seong Hayul| More importantly, there’s something you need to know. The 2nd floor practicals are under investigation, so everything is classified for now. Over the weekend, a gag order’s been issued—don’t tell anyone what happened.

As I caught up on the five hours of news I’d slept through… no matter how long I waited, Yeom Juwan, Ki Hyeonmin, and Gyeon Junhwi never posted a single message.

All three of my top biases were silent.

|Yeon Sora| What about Juwan, Hyeonmin, and Junhwi?

|Seong Hayul| Gyeon Junhwi went to the library. Probably deep in focus.

|Han Boram| Yeom Juwan was with us until just now, then went to Ki Hyeonmin’s room.

|Yeon Sora| Juwan went to Hyeonmin’s room? Why?

|Seong Hayul| Why are you asking us?

On top of everything, news came that Juwan had gone to Ki Hyeonmin’s dorm room.

This was an event that didn’t exist in the original.

My heart started acting up, completely out of line.

|Yeon Sora| I’m going to sleep now, so see you guys tomorrow?

I typed out my farewell and focused on deep breathing exercises to calm my racing heart.

At last… the moment had come.

The chance to test my new skill!!!! I could watch the conversation between Yeom Juwan and Ki Hyeonmin live!

With solemn reverence, I activated the skill.

A strange fog blanketed my vision.

The same fog I’d seen once in a dream.

.

.

.

After a brief wait, the fog cleared. And spread before me was heaven.

‘Oh my god….’

Ki Hyeonmin.

He must have just finished showering—his hair was still wet. And… he wasn’t wearing anything on top. Just a single towel draped over one shoulder.

The sight was so dizzying I nearly lost my mind, when—

Ding-dong—

The doorbell rang and Hyeonmin walked to the door. It swung open to reveal Juwan. The two exchanged greetings with a nod instead of words.

“Here.”

Hyeonmin handed Juwan a small key card.

It was… a dorm key. Cadets received up to five spare keys they could give to others, and he was giving one to Juwan right now. Juwan didn’t look particularly surprised.

“I just need to wake you at 9 AM tomorrow, right?”

“If I wake before then, I’ll message you separately.”

“Got it.”

“Thanks.”

“It’s nothing.”

That brief exchange ended, and Juwan left.

Hyeonmin toweled off the remaining dampness from his hair, pulled a t-shirt from the wardrobe and put it on. Then he picked up an object from the table and lay down on the bed.

“……”

The object in Hyeonmin’s hand.

The one he kept staring at—it was my BB gun. Loaded inside were rounds containing the Incapacitation skill. After gazing at it for a long while, Hyeonmin seemed to make up his mind. He turned the muzzle toward himself.

Bang!

The toy round struck Hyeonmin’s shoulder, and my baby closed his eyes and collapsed into sleep as if falling.
