I obediently surrendered my Sunday and headed to the club room. But the moment I opened the door, an unusual sight greeted me.

“What’s all this?”

An extravagantly luxurious tea table was set up in the middle of the club room.

Real gold macarons made with genuine gold, ultra-expensive peaches called Queen Mother of the West peaches…. No matter how I looked at it, this wasn’t a spread the club budget could afford.

“You haven’t eaten yet, right? Eat first!”

“Is it okay to spend money on stuff like this?”

I was trying to be considerate, but the president laughed heartily and pounded my back.

“Haha! It’s an investment, an investment! Do you know how much profit you’ve brought in so far, Yeon Sora? A whopping 800 million gold! Thanks to you, we upgraded all the editing equipment in our club room to the latest versions!”

The president pounded my back a few more times, then rubbed his hands together like a scheming courtier.

“So? Think this one will blow up too? How much do you think we’ll make?”

“It won’t be like last time. That one sold because of the terrorists.”

The previous video was the only footage of the terrorist group, so we could sell it to news outlets everywhere. This time there were no terrorists involved, so there was no way it would blow up like that.

“Ah… yeah….”

The president looked disappointed for a moment, but quickly regained his energy.

“Haha, it’s fine! It can’t blow up every time! And you know, even your ordinary stuff does surprisingly well! That video you uploaded last time with that crude title… what was it?”

“I Heard You Have to See Pretty and Handsome Things Big and Slow for Maximum Effect?”

“Right, that one! That got decent profits too! But there’s something strange about it….”

The video the president was mentioning was my lovingly crafted fangirling video. The one I created to spread my babies’ beauty as far and wide as possible was apparently strange.

The president pulled up a hologram graph and began explaining.

“The left side shows typical view counts. They’re highest when first uploaded and decrease over time, right? But this video’s view count keeps steadily increasing over time. Looking at the growth rate, it seems like people are watching it repeatedly out of habit, but I can’t figure out why.”

The president was talking about it like some mystery of the century, but I could understand this graph immediately.

‘They’re people who’ve fallen for my babies!’

Rewatching videos over and over is classic fan behavior! Judging by the lack of comments, they seem to be in the denial phase of falling for them, but at the point where they’re watching consistently every day, they’re already hooked.

Good news.

‘I’ll have comrades to suffer over my babies’ beauty and cuteness together!’

Just as I was cheering internally, the hologram screen changed and another graph appeared.

“This is the profit the 2nd floor practicals videos have generated so far. They’re popular, so they record relatively high view counts, and as you can see, the average profit is 5 million gold.”

This guy wasn’t the type to harp on about profits before…. Must’ve gotten a taste of money and gone completely money-crazy.

As I was casually skimming through the graph, I noticed something odd.

“Why is last year’s profit like this?”

“Hahaha! You caught that! Last year we made a whopping 50 million gold! Yoo Seoha and Min Dorim stepped up! It was absolutely legendary!”

“Ohhhhh! Why? What happened?”

The exploits of my two biases that weren’t described in the original!

I was cheering at this unexpected plot bait when the president, seeing my reaction, excitedly spilled all the details about Yoo Seoha and Min Dorim’s heroics.

“The 2nd floor is originally a survival format, right? Over ten teams enter and fight each other, but Yoo Seoha went around defeating all the leaders. She challenged other team leaders to one-on-one duels, saying they should settle it leader versus leader instead of cowardly picking on the weak.”

“Ohhh! As expected, she’s amazing!”

“She even gave every opponent a five-move handicap. She wouldn’t draw her weapon until the opponent attacked five times, then once five moves were up, she’d go ‘My turn now?’ and finish them in one strike! Bam! She was a total warrior queen!”

“Then did Yoo Seoha sunbaenim and Min Dorim sunbaenim fight each other too?”

“That caused quite a stir too! Min Dorim was the only one who fought Yoo Seoha on equal footing. After an hour with no winner, Min Dorim suddenly lowered his sword and surrendered. He said ‘Let’s stop, I’m sick of this.’ There was tons of talk about it afterward. People speculated he surrendered because he thought he’d lose, or that he lost on purpose intentionally…. There were all kinds of theories, but that guy Dorim is so unpredictable. Well, anyway, what’s important is! People went absolutely crazy clicking to try to interpret Min Dorim’s intentions, which drove up the profits!”

I was listening intently to last year’s situation when suddenly someone entered the club room.

“Hey! Class rep! You made it!”

“Hello, president.”

It was Gyeon Junhwi.

Our Junhwi, who hadn’t slept a wink all night doing research, had been summoned to the Broadcasting Club. I immediately glared at the president, and the president backed away defensively.

“I didn’t call him… Look, this is another tricky video, right? I was just going to get some consultation, but Gyeon Junhwi said he wanted to help…. So I’m counting on you, okay? If you need more snacks, just say so!”

The president fled the scene, and Gyeon Junhwi gave me a fatigue-laden smile.

“I’m the one who offered to come. Anyway… should we go in?”

Seeing him stagger into the editing room made me feel bad for him, but if I made a fuss, our Junhwi would only get more tired, so I quietly followed him inside.

Yeon Sora’s dedicated editing room was a perfectly soundproofed space. Only after entering did Junhwi speak.

“You didn’t say anything to the fairy, right?”

“Nope! Of course not!”

“Even if the fairy requests a conversation, keep putting it off. It’d be better to do it around Wednesday or Thursday.”

I was following Junhwi’s instructions. He hadn’t specifically explained why we were postponing the conversation with the fairy, but I already knew. We needed to make the fairy desperate and anxious to gain an advantage in the information exchange.

After that, Junhwi asked questions related to Bang Haeun.

“Did you have any dreams related to Bang Haeun’s parents?”

“No.”

“Anything about Hwarang Guild?”

“Don’t know.”

“Have you thought about how to draw them out?”

“Not really?”

It seemed like he wanted to borrow the fortune-teller’s power, but unfortunately I didn’t possess any information related to Bang Haeun’s parents. They didn’t appear in the original.

After confirming there was no information to extract from me, Junhwi gave a bitter smile and spoke again.

“Hwarang Guild is the 10th floor administrator.”

“!”

With that one sentence, I immediately grasped Junhwi’s intent.

The mastermind couldn’t attack us on the academy campus yet. Even in the original, they only attacked after eliminating the chairwoman and half the faculty.

If they wanted to eliminate us, they’d do it inside the Tower. Therefore, there was a high possibility a mastermind incident would occur on the 10th floor, where Hwarang Guild was the administrator.

“Before that, we need to figure out what abilities the enemy has and how they’ll act. So for a while, consult with me before editing any videos.”

“The videos?”

“We need to use these videos to lure out the enemy.”

* * *

Friday evening.

While Yeon Sora was resting, the academy’s General Forum was on fire.

— Why aren’t the 2nd floor results out yet?

— This year’s delay is pretty bad, huh?

— How many people do you think will pass?

For academy cadets, the 2nd floor was a special section.

Cadets who passed the 2nd floor quickly generally climbed the Tower at a fast pace and caught up with upperclassmen. Yoo Seoha and Min Dorim, currently doing practicals alongside third-years, were examples of this.

Does our year have many cadets who skip grades?

This became a point of pride for cadets.

— Think they’ll break last year’s record?

— Can’t beat God Seoha! Wasn’t it 43 people?

— But this cohort has Yeon Sora, right? It probably didn’t go smoothly.

— Calamity-class skill + discipline specialist!

— Shaking in fear

Many people waited, but the practicals results never appeared. Instead, at 10 PM, an unusual announcement went up.

[The Floor 2 supplementary practicals have been canceled. Cadets who failed this practicals session will participate in the second session for bug investigation and safety checks.]

[A gag order has been issued during the investigation period.]

There had never been a canceled supplementary practicals session in academy history. Something had clearly happened. Moreover, the announcement contained a familiar keyword.

— Another bug?

— Wow… Did terrorism happen again?

— If so, wouldn’t there have been a Big 4 Guilds announcement?

— I heard Phoenix Guild directly deployed additional safety oversight personnel this time though…

— Wasn’t it Yeon Sora who did something?

Curiosity exploded, but they couldn’t directly question Yeon Sora. Anyone who violated the gag order would be locked in the Room of Silence as punishment.

However, the gag order only prohibited directly approaching the person involved. Collecting clues through other methods and speculating freely was perfectly allowed.

Several cadets began their deductions by observing the freshmen over the weekend.

— Spotted a bunch of first session practicals students at NAKSA Mall!

— They went shopping after finishing 2nd floor practicals?

— What’s with their mental state…

— What even happened?

The 2nd floor was a space where distrust of humanity sprouted. Cadets who passed it typically spent time ruminating in solitude while battling depression and self-loathing. Cheerfully going shopping made no sense.

Yeon Sora was even at the center of it.

— Saw several first-years giving Yeon Sora gifts! Yeon Sora definitely stepped up!

— Disciplining the terrorists?

— Might be a bug investigation? Damn….

— Crazy when is Monday coming!!!!!

As anticipation built to a peak, a new announcement appeared Monday morning at exactly 8 AM.

[Floor 2 Practicals Results: 89 Passed, 14 Failed]

The average number of 2nd floor passers was around 30. But this year’s cohort had triple that number pass.

The record-shattering numbers set the forum ablaze once again.

— Is this even possible?

— They surpassed Yoo Seoha???

— FXck we need more explanation!

— Even the passers all look happy?

— Seeing the numbers just makes it more confusing…

And just as curiosity was exploding, the awaited video went up.

<(Broadcasting Club Exclusive!) We’ll Tell You Everything Refreshingly! The Truth Behind 89 Passers!>

As expected, the view count exploded. Every enrolled student watched the video.

The video started at the temple. It showed the 89 cadets who safely escaped the 2nd floor shedding tears of gratitude.

[Thank you! You guys are our saviors!]

[We seriously thought we were in hell…]

[I was thinking about just dropping out…]

Text appeared over the scene.

[Record-breaking passers! 89 people! Non-combat 37, Combat 52]

[What on earth happened?]

— Not a typo? Non-combat is 37?

— Nearly half passed?

— What the hell even happened…

— The more I watch, the less I understand

There had never been such a high ratio of non-combat types among passers. Amid mounting confusion, the video used a rewind effect to go back in time.

Eventually, footage appeared of Yeon Sora’s group walking through the ruined city.

[24 Hours Earlier]

[Team S, First to Arrive at Zone 3]

Yeon Sora’s group wandered around Seolleung Station, then headed toward a building and… did something unimaginable.

Whoooosh!

Crash-crash-BOOM!

They completely collapsed an entire building. Soon after, a conversation between the teaching assistant and Gyeon Junhwi could be heard.

[Those just transported are testifying that Gyeon Junhwi’s team deliberately damaged the test area. Do you acknowledge the intent?]

[I acknowledge it. However, we merely executed a strategy utilizing terrain features. I trust you will judge whether our intent was good or evil based on the results.]

Gyeon Junhwi’s team had identified other cadets’ test areas and intentionally collapsed them. The comment section caught fire at this action no one had anticipated.

— How did they find the test areas?

— What, they sank all the other test areas to survive themselves? Where’s fair play?

— Shouldn’t this actually get sanctioned?

— But why were those kids thanking them?

— The more I watch, the less sense it makes…

The video continued showing Yeon Sora’s group’s incomprehensible actions. Destroying all test areas and incapacitating classmates with pressure points.

The explanation for these baffling actions came at the video’s conclusion. Gyeon Junhwi explained to the angry cadets.

[While you were unconscious, we collected the flags. Between what we have and yours, there are 89 total. If we took them all out ourselves, we’d get record-breaking bonus points, but we decided not to. If we’re going to set a new record, we want it to be a different kind.]

Amid confusion full of question marks, Gyeon Junhwi smiled confidently.

[We’re going to change the 2nd floor’s entry cutline. This year’s first session practicals entry cutline is 89 people. We’ll decide who passes by vote.]

From the start, they’d been moving to share the flags with other cadets. Not pursuing their own interests, but moving for the entire year, to set a new record.

A forceful approach, but one that drew out the most righteous result.

The reactions to this were passionate too.

— Never imagined this twist…

— But isn’t it too forceful?

↳ If they’d asked for input, someone would’ve betrayed them midway

↳ Knocked everyone out and forcibly implemented justice

— What a waste… if they’d just gone out themselves, imagine the bonus points…

— Gyeon Junhwi’s brain, wow…

— Isn’t he like a second Yoo Seoha?

— This cohort is amazing….

Yoo Seoha became such a popular student council president largely because of her Floor 2 floor actions. She proved she wasn’t someone who only talked about justice. But Gyeon Junhwi’s popularity far exceeded Yoo Seoha’s.

Everyone marveled at the freshman practicals’ unexpected results.

However, there were also those who couldn’t suppress their anger while watching this video.

BANG!

“What is this?”

“How does such a simple mission get screwed up!”

“The messenger went missing and we couldn’t even get fuel!!”

It was the masterminds holding an emergency meeting in their hideout.

In the cave filled with rage, one figure opened their mouth with a pale face. It was the prescient.

“I need to… meet Yeon Sora directly.”

  1. And well, Yeon Sora is NOT an oracle nor a prescient; she’s also kind of insane lol
What does he want to confirm, even?

    Thanks for sharing!
