This is my first time seeing Ki Hyeonmin’s combat up close.

Is that human movement?

What is this person moving at 8x speed?

Flash here, flash there.

Stab here, slash there.

It doesn’t even take 15 seconds to eliminate one chimera.

Grrrr…

Grrr…

Before long, only the monsters’ final breaths echoed through the theater.

My baby, you’re insane!

As expected, a combat machine!

My baby #2 sheathed his sword back in its scabbard, then scanned the entire theater with a frown.

Seems like he can’t see us.

Well, even a regressor doesn’t have resistance to nine-tailed fox illusion magic.

Swiiish—

The white fence before our eyes crumbled.

Gyeon Junhwi deactivated the nest.

And in the blink of an eye—

Swiish—

Ki Hyeonmin was precisely holding his sword at Gyeon Junhwi’s throat.

“You…”

Ki Hyeonmin raised one eyebrow.

Seems like he recognized Gyeon Junhwi.

But he didn’t lower the sword tip.

Surely he won’t stab, but…

‘Stop it! What if you leave even a scratch on his neck!’

I’m so tense sweat’s forming on my palms.

I’m praying inwardly for him not to leave a single blemish, when Ki Hyeonmin looked at me this time.

Our eyes met.

Just as his cold blue eyes narrowed long—

“You, you’re Ki Hyeonmin, right? Whooaa, I seriously thought I was dead! Thanks!”

Lee Hyojun’s voice rang out, and Ki Hyeonmin withdrew his sword.

Other survivors were also wiping tears and running toward their savior.

“Ki Hyeonmin? The freshman representative? Wow, as expected!”

“We really survived thanks to you…”

“You’re seriously amazing!”

“Chimeras, and godili at that, all by yourself like this! I saw it but didn’t even know what was happening, you know?”

Right, that’s how it would look to normal people.

Ki Hyeonmin can see monsters’ weak points.

Since enrolling, he skipped classes and trained like crazy so his stats are high too.

And he’s actually acquainted with the chimera gang we met today.

He’s faced them 6 times already, so the 7th time would’ve been easy.

Nine chimeras are a 3-minute clear for Ki Hyeonmin.

“Communication’s restored. Just sent a rescue request. There might be more monsters outside, so let’s wait here for now.”

At Gyeon Junhwi’s calm voice, Lee Hyojun ran back over here and made a fuss.

“Gyeon Junhwi, you’re really… if it weren’t for you, it would’ve been a corpse field when Ki Hyeonmin arrived, right? You’re a lifesaver, seriously!”

This time the survivors surrounded my baby #1 while expressing gratitude.

“Right! Without you, there would’ve been casualties for sure.”

“But how did you even think to make a nine-tailed fox nest? You made it on your own through self-study?”

“I tried making it as a test and it’s lucky it worked properly.”

“You just made it as a test? As a freshman?”

“So you’re a natural talent too?”

“More importantly, is anyone hurt? That person who collapsed earlier…”

Gyeon Junhwi showed the appearance of a calm leader until the very last moment.

He approached the male student I’d knocked out.

“He’s asleep. There’s nothing wrong with his body, but it’d be better to take him to the medical wing.”

“Do you know what happened?”

“Well…”

Park Rahee trailed off, and Gyeon Junhwi’s gaze turned toward me.

‘Did he notice?’

I put that guy to sleep because he seemed like he’d cause trouble…

That method was a bit too explicit though.

“Juwan, I feel a little dizzy.”

“H-h-how! S-Sora, are you okay?”

“Let me check your blood pressure real quick.”

Times like this call for feigning illness.

When I staggered, Han Boram made a fuss, and Yeom Juwan pulled out an examination kit from his inventory and began caring for me.

Thanks to the two shielding me like a folding screen, Gyeon Junhwi’s sharp gaze didn’t pierce directly at me.

‘We seem to have some communication problems.’

Couldn’t you just tell me with words?

If you’d told me Ki Hyeonmin would be late without draining my mana, I would’ve waited quietly too…

Plus I even had mana charging candy received from Min Dorim.

I almost cleared out all the chimeras myself.

“Everyone, are you safe? Any injured?”

Reinforcements arrived, and the incident concluded like that.

Zero casualties.

9 chimeras eliminated.

My babies’ achievements stood out, and the primary goal of finding the subordinate was achieved too.

It was a bit nerve-wracking, but this is good enough to be called a model case of the ‘6+3=9’ principle.

“Should we head back now?”

At my words, the glued-together crew nodded.

Among them, Park Rahee looked particularly exhausted.

She’d looked tired even before the incident, and in the midst of it summoned a grasshopper and used healing abilities too.

But sympathy is forbidden.

She’s a subordinate trying to bring about the world’s destruction.

That evening.

Breaking news related to the incident appeared.

[Chimera Rampage at NAKSA Mall… Monsters Being Transported to Research Building Escape, ‘Safety Insensitivity’ Serious]

Today at 5 PM, 9 chimeras being transported to the research building escaped and appeared at NAKSA Mall’s movie theater.

Although approximately 70 students were in the theater, fortunately there were no casualties.

The investigation team discovered traces of bottles containing pine extract inside the theater, estimating that chimeras being transported through the underground tunnel showed violent reactions drawn to that substance’s scent and broke through the barrier.

The last inspection of the underground transport system was two years ago…

‘So that was why.’

The reason the incident location changed.

This cycle, there just happened to be a student carrying pine extract.

It’s plausible, but…

The sense of discomfort didn’t disappear.

“Gyeon Junhwi, aren’t you really amazing?”

Ki Hyeonmin closed the hologram window and focused on the voice heard again.

Dormitory 1’s lounge had a festival atmosphere.

Ki Hyeonmin was eavesdropping on conversations passing through here while concealing his presence with the Stealth skill.

“How did you even think to make a nine-tailed fox nest? That’s something freshmen wouldn’t really know.”

“I heard about it from club seniors a few days ago.”

“Club seniors?”

“Yeah, when Item Crafting Club seniors were talking about nine-tailed fox nests, I happened to have materials I’d obtained…”

‘Should I verify this?’

Two drops of Truth Serum would confirm the facts.

Gyeon Junhwi created Persephone’s Curse item in the first incident, and the nine-tailed fox nest in this one.

Items that fit the situations too perfectly to be coincidence.

The timing is excessively good too.

Moreover—

‘Both of them were at those places.’

Until now, Ki Hyeonmin had been at the center of all changes.

But this time, he had to seek out that change himself.

Two suspicious individuals had arrived at the incident location beforehand.

An unfamiliar experience for the regressor.

‘Variables that can’t be ignored, then…’

The flow is being significantly disrupted from the beginning.

It’s still flowing in the same direction, but the current is splitting.

Suddenly curiosity arose.

‘How will they move?’

The ‘enemy’ has pursued only Ki Hyeonmin from the very beginning until now.

Will there be changes to that flow too?

The underground temple’s grand council chamber.

Nine apostles summoned to an emergency meeting took their seats at the round table.

A woman in a glamorous red dress barely sat down before slamming her fist on the table.

“Not a single casualty—what kind of bullshit is this!”

“Calm down, Meridian.”

“Calm down? Some people work their asses off while others…”

“I agree with Meridian.”

“Me too.”

“Not wrong.”

“Everyone, please calm down.”

A woman in a white dress continued the meeting with a calm voice.

“Understanding the situation comes before anger. Did you learn anything about the ‘messenger’s’ disappearance?”

A priest waiting at attention bowed his head.

“My apologies, Lady Beelzebub. That messenger has low intelligence so only one-way instructions are possible. Since it happened inside the dormitory, we cannot conduct additional investigation.”

“Possibility of the Tower’s involvement?”

“We monitored throughout the incident, but there was no movement.”

“Then there’s high possibility Fate intervened.”

“What Fate.”

Meridian snorted and glared with icy eyes at another apostle seated at the round table.

“You, do you even actually foresee things? How do you never get it right even once?”

“As I’ve said before, Fate is a power that transcends all things. Accurate prescience is impossible.”

“If you can’t do that, what kind of prescient are you pretending to be!”

The sky-blue long-haired man deeply sighed.

“I’ll explain one last time. The world moves within Destiny’s bonds. Just as humans cannot overcome death no matter how hard they try, immutable laws exist in this world. Fate is a power that changes even such Destiny.”

“There’s a dog barking again.”

“Fate is observed through Destiny’s distortion. When prescience is wrong, it means Fate is at work.”

“What nonsense is this? Every time you’re wrong, you mental-gymnastic yourself into actually being right?”

Snap—

When Beelzebub flicked her fingers, all sound disappeared.

“We’ll move under the assumption Pyton’s words are true. Let’s investigate the possibility that Fate intervened at this scene. Is personnel available for dispatch within this week?”

The priest bowed his head again.

“We’ve heard that woman is advancing her business trip schedule and returning quickly. Within this week, two people is the limit.”

“Please proceed that way. Let’s investigate from the most threatening individuals. We’ll start with the freshman representatives. The better the enemy’s abilities, the more troublesome they are, after all.”

When the instructed priest hesitated, Beelzebub smiled kindly.

“What’s wrong?”

“Well… I heard the person we’re seeking is one who bears Fate and grants the Tower’s wish. One of the freshman representatives has quite a bad reputation… with limited personnel, I wonder if prioritizing her is right…”

“Rumors tend to be exaggerated. To know true nature, you must observe visible actions rather than heard words.”

“Those actions are the problem…”

The priest displayed a photo on the hologram.

A beautiful girl’s photo.

That girl was pouring juice over another student’s head.

She wore a smile full of contempt while watching the thinly falling liquid.

“Freshman representative Yeon Sora. This shows her punishing a classmate who blocked her path. She even threatened to attack with flame magic if they moved.”

“…”

“The student victimized here later requested a sparring match to restore honor, but caused cardiac arrest and sent them to the medical wing.”

Meridian giggled.

“What, her? Interesting? Can I recruit her?”

Snap—

At Beelzebub’s hand motion, Meridian’s voice was buried again.

“Her role in this incident?”

“Despite having ability to single-handedly annihilate 9 chimeras, she didn’t intervene.”

“We have eyes on this side, right? Was there a report?”

“Yes. Intelligence is somewhat low, emotionally very unstable, obsessive to pathological levels, physically frail, and repeatedly provokes people despite gaining absolutely nothing.”

“…”

“Is it really right to… prioritize this student?”

“Since personnel is limited this week, let’s investigate from the next priority individual. I won’t exclude her yet though.”

“Yes.”

“Then we’ll adjourn for today. Pyton, would you talk with me briefly?”

After everyone left the council chamber—

Beelzebub flicked her fingers to seal the space.

“Pyton, your complexion is poor. Some problem with readings?”

Pyton sighed softly before speaking.

“Separate from Destiny, you know I have the ability to perceive the near future, right?”

“Of course.”

“After the last incident, this time I was observing both Destiny and the near future simultaneously.”

“So that’s why your complexion is pale. That puts a lot of strain on the body… But what problem occurred?”

After hesitation, Pyton opened his mouth again.

“It changed. The near future… dozens of times per minute.”

“Pardon?”

“This has never happened before. I don’t know if it’s related to Fate, but…”

“Enough to damage readings?”

Instead of answering, Pyton lifted the pendulum.

An amethyst of mysterious color swung left and right like a pendulum.

Movement precise as machinery.

“This is the future I read. There’s some variation, but the major flow is clearly visible. But today…”

Pyton trembled the hand holding the pendulum minutely.

The amethyst bounced slightly.

After experiencing small recoil, the amethyst immediately returned to its orbit.

“If it’s just this level, it won’t be a prob—”

“Please keep watching.”

This time Pyton kept shaking his hand without stopping.

As minute recoil accumulated, the crystal that had been drawing clear orbits began drawing random circles.

“This is problematic.”

“It is.”

“We should investigate. Please start immediately.”
