“Field Training means entering the Tower. In this class, we’ll form parties every other week to climb the Tower. For the first 10 floors, two teaching assistants will accompany you as supervisors. We’ll start clearing from floor 1, and teams that clear quickly may climb multiple floors per week.”

Students in <On the Brink of Destruction> climb the Tower instead of touring dungeons.

Floor 1 isn’t particularly high difficulty… but this time will be different.

‘My babies must’ve noticed, right?’

I rolled my eyes to look beside me, and both Ki Hyeonmin and Gyeon Junhwi were staring at the twin brothers.

They recognized them in the original, so they’ll recognize them now too.

My babies are smart, so they’ll know what this means.

‘An Outbreak is guaranteed.’

Maybe a mastermind will even appear to use their Authority.

Whether they’ve moved up the midterm catastrophic incident, or added a new event in between—I still can’t tell.

The class continued progressing despite the confusion.

“You’ve probably learned about boss areas. Floor 1’s boss area is a desert zone. Please reference the map and data packet for detailed information, and strategize accordingly.”

The teaching assistants circulated, handing each person a large hardcover book.

Books made with ability-infused paper—they weigh almost nothing and won’t be damaged by any physical attack.

“Parties consist of 7 members. Since S-class is short on people, please recruit 2 members from A-class. Departure is this Friday. Today we’ll spend time forming parties and planning overall strategy. Don’t waste time.”

* * *

After class ended, the 5 S-class students gathered in a circle to start discussions.

“First we need to recruit party members… Does anyone want to bring specific people from A-class?”

“How about one of the study group members?”

Field Training is divided into 3 sections total, and Lee Hyojun and No Jitae aren’t in the class we took. Perhaps because of that, Yeom Juwan was in ‘anyone’s fine’ mode, while Gyeon Junhwi was contemplating.

Because Kang Yeochan, who attended yesterday’s study session, isn’t here.

In the original, Kang Yeochan’s interpretation ability played a fairly important role in clearing floor 1… but it’s different from the original now.

The awakening test had dozens of students survive, so different class compositions aren’t strange, but—

“I-I think Rahee would be good!”

Park Rahee is here.

Two subordinates clocked in early, and now even the hidden subordinate ended up in the same class?

This can’t be coincidence.

“I also think Park Rahee would be good.”

When I spoke up, Gyeon Junhwi’s brow furrowed.

“I’d like to recruit someone with necessary abilities rather than personal connections… Preferably combat-type.”

“I’m not saying it because of personal connections. Park Rahee is a healer. It would be good to have her nearby in case anyone gets injured.”

That’s not the real reason.

My baby must be considering the Outbreak too.

So he’s trying to reinforce combat power as much as possible.

But if the subordinate operates from the shadows, bigger problems will arise.

I need to keep her right beside me with full marking so she can’t pull anything.

“And I don’t like working with strangers—it ruins my sleep.”

“Then let’s do that.”

Gyeon Junhwi understood my signal.

Right, we need an emergency possessor meeting!

“…Then I’ll try asking Park Rahee and Seong Hayul. Everyone okay with that?”

“Yeah.”

“G-good!”

“Ki Hyeonmin, what about you?”

Ki Hyeonmin sat with his legs crossed and eyes closed.

He’s definitely organizing his thoughts in his mental world.

The fact that the regressor is doing that also means a major crisis has arrived.

Only three and a half days remain.

I need to move quickly too!

I don’t know what I should do yet, but there’s not much time, so I need to do something!

Just as I was preparing to dash out the moment class ended—

“Yeon Sora, please stay briefly after class.”

Professor Joo called me over.

* * *

After the students left the classroom,

Snap!

Professor Joo flicked his fingers, and a bluish box appeared around us.

Professor Joo’s ability is spatial manipulation.

He can freely adjust space within a specific range.

Based on my guess, any conversation happening inside this space will only be audible to us.

“What did you need me for…?”

“Did you properly purchase those items?”

Come to think of it, he’d asked that question last week.

Whether I could cover Yeon Sora’s terrible stamina and strength with items.

I thought about dodging, but I’m not confident I can fool Professor Joo.

Let’s just be honest.

“No, I haven’t yet.”

“What’s the reason?”

“I don’t have enough money.”

“……”

That evening after our conversation, I went into Hunter Market, but stamina and strength enhancement items only came in expensive versions.

My remaining balance is 60 million gold.

But all the items start at 80 million.

“You should purchase them quickly. Floor 1 won’t be too difficult, but starting from floor 5, you won’t be able to endure with your stamina.”

“Yes.”

He let it go surprisingly gently.

Just when I thought we were done here, Professor Joo was staring intently at me.

“Is there more…?”

“Do you know about the faculty advisor system?”

“Yes.”

“Then this will be quick. How about having me as your faculty advisor?”

A proposal I never imagined came out.

A faculty advisor is a kind of mentor system.

The faculty advisor guides the advisee student’s course registration and ability development. In return, the advisee student must assist with the advisor’s research and becomes part of what’s commonly called a ‘line.’

‘Why is this coming up suddenly?’

<On the Brink of Destruction> is an academy story, so there are scenes of professors competing to recruit excellent students.

But those scenes happen after midterms, after student rankings come out.

Moreover, Professor Joo was a professor who kept not a single advisee student.

“Do you dislike it?”

“It’s not that… I just haven’t thought about it at all.”

“Then start thinking about it now.”

“May I ask why you’re choosing me…?”

I’m genuinely curious about this.

Yeon Sora may be the freshman representative, but—

“You know my ability scores. I have a very significant weakness. And though I hate to say this myself, my grades won’t be very good either. I’m determined to just barely avoid failing theory classes.”

“I know.”

“Then why…”

Professor Joo looked at me with an incredibly serious expression.

“It’s a feeling.”

“?”

Professor, what kind of character is this?

“Do you know who the most troublesome enemy is in real combat?”

“A strong opponent?”

“Wrong.”

A smile bloomed on the face of the middle-aged man who’s always stiff and stern.

“The most troublesome enemy is an unpredictable one. Strong one moment then absurdly weak, seeming weak so you underestimate them then they launch attacks that transcend common sense, casually ignoring what normal people take for granted—that kind of enemy… you can’t even see how to approach them.”

I can’t tell if this is praise or an insult.

“You, probably…”

Professor Joo gazed into the distance with wistful eyes before composing his expression again.

“Think about it.”

“Yes.”

“Then you may go.”

“Professor, one more thing!”

Just as Professor Joo was preparing to snap his fingers again, I hurriedly opened my mouth.

“I heard from seniors that there are two incredibly kind and wonderful female teaching assistants in your class.”

In <On the Brink of Destruction>, the two teaching assistants who accompanied floor 1 were female, described as tremendous beauties.

But the teaching assistants in today’s class are all male.

I’m not sure what knowing this accomplishes, but I felt compelled to ask.

“There were. Those two had to drop out due to personal circumstances.”

“Personal circumstances…?”

Professor Joo’s face hardened even more.

“One was injured, and the other is attending a family funeral.”

* * *

Outside the classroom, Yeom Juwan and Han Boram were waiting for me.

“Where are Gyeon Junhwi and Ki Hyeonmin?”

“They said they had things to do today and left.”

“What about Park Rahee?”

“She said she wasn’t feeling well and went back first. She’s taking the afternoon off.”

Tsk, I lost her.

I should’ve marked her properly, but I couldn’t exactly refuse when a professor calls—this is force majeure.

Two subordinates appeared and the hidden subordinate vanished—no matter how I look at it, that’s not good…

“Today let’s just have lunch together. You were taking so long that I told Lee Hyojun and No Jitae to eat ahead. Where do you want to go?”

“I’ll just grab a sandwich from the campus store.”

I have no appetite, but I can’t let my babies starve, so I decided to shove something in my stomach.

The quickest option possible.

“Min Dorim sunbae was amazing! It’s only been one day, but my body didn’t feel like my own. Should I say it felt like one second stretched into three?”

Yeom Juwan seemed very pleased with Min Dorim’s special training, talking about it the entire time at the campus store.

My baby, you’re like a shounen manga hot-blooded protagonist.

It’s good that you enjoy training.

But while eating, Yeom Juwan suddenly stared into space and put down his sandwich.

“Sora, I’m sorry but today I’m… going to skip the elective. Sunbae is doing free training at the training ground, and he told me to come if I have free period too…”

“Sure, don’t worry about it and go.”

“Okay, see you at dinner!”

Seems our Juwan has really fallen for him if he’s leaving Yeon Sora behind.

But this is fortunate for me.

I’m extremely busy today anyway.

I’d like to dash to the dorm right now, but if I do that, it’ll create a picture of Han Boram eating alone at the campus store, so let me endure until we finish eating… but Han Boram was looking around while whispering.

“S-Sora… in-in the Tower… w-we’ll move separately, just us, right? Without the other kids…”

“We’re moving in 7-person party units.”

“M-maybe… this time… could you make time for me and Junhwi to talk alone?”

Han Boram spat out her words with a bright red face.

“N-not a confession or anything like that! J-just lately everyone’s been together all the time… s-so there’s no chance to talk alone!”

This child is still confused about the genre.

This isn’t an academy romance.

But from Han Boram’s perspective, it makes sense, so I decided to smile and play along.

After advising that baby #1 will be (preventively) busy, so how about postponing their one-on-one conversation for another time, I stood up the moment Han Boram swallowed the last piece of her sandwich.

“I’m not feeling well either, so I’ll rest in my room.”

“S-Sora too?”

“Yeah, sorry.”

I made a bold decision to skip and headed to the dorm.

To organize what I need to do over the next three days somewhere undisturbed.

But at the dorm entrance, I ran into another unexpected person.

“Could we talk for a moment?”

Seong Hayul, who had an eye-level showdown with me yesterday.

Why is she suddenly appearing?

“Sorry, I’m busy right now so talking is difficult.”

“It won’t take long.”

“Then I’ll give you 30 seconds. Speak quickly.”

“Here?”

Please, let me do possessor work.

Right now we’re in emergency mode because of the butterfly effect!

When I urged her with my gaze, Seong Hayul composed her expression and spoke.

“I wanted to apologize. I think I stubbornly inconvenienced you guys yesterday…”

“Okay, got it. Leaving?”

“Wait!”

I turned to leave, but she grabbed my sleeve and held out a bottled drink.

“What’s this?”

“As-as an apology, please drink it…”

This scene feels familiar.

In the original, there was a scene where Seong Hayul apologized while handing over a drink after being ignored by Gyeon Junhwi for the first time.

It was definitely a drink with an Enchantment Potion added.

A potion modified to make someone enchanted with only her.

Possible because she’s the daughter of the president of the biggest potion manufacturing company in <On the Brink of Destruction>.

‘No way… right?’

Gyeon Junhwi identified the Enchantment Potion with his item appraisal skill, but I don’t have that skill, so I can’t tell if it’s in there or not.

The fact that she’s handing over a drink is suspicious, but—

“Thanks, I’ll drink it later.”

I’m the type who doesn’t refuse anything, so I accepted it for now and stored it in my inventory.

Why is she doing to me what she used to do to Gyeon Junhwi?

At this busy time too.

‘Being a possessor is truly pitiful.’

Today I’m feeling particularly overwhelmed that only my genre is different.

Everyone else is busy filming academy student recruitment scenes, shounen manga training scenes, romance scenes, and academy classmate rivalry scenes.

This is a survival story!

I entered my room and immediately opened my TO DO LIST to organize what I need to do within three days, when this time a translucent window interrupted me.

“Ugh, come on!!”

I involuntarily spat out my irritation aloud, but the next moment I had to retract my irritation.

Because finally someone from my same genre appeared.

|Ha Seonwoo| Sora, what time does your class end today?
