Ikseong’s eyebrows twitched.

“No, I don’t.”

“By ‘no,’ do you mean……”

Does he mean he likes me?

This suddenly?

Could the title of Special Side Story 2 be—

[I Stole My Bias’s Heart! (PG-12 Edited Version)]

Something like that?

If that’s the case…

‘I shall open it.’

While I was making this secret resolution.

“I am proposing a fake relationship.”

Tch.

Actually, it was a response I’d somewhat expected.

However, the words that followed from Kwon Ikseong’s mouth were different from my expectations.

“…The Gamer is targeting you.”

The reason for this fake relationship wasn’t for some undercover wedding investigation, but because ‘the Gamer is targeting me?’

What on earth did that have to do with dating?

It was then.

Both mine and Ikseong’s phones began to ring simultaneously.

Pi Sowon’s number appeared on mine, and on Ikseong’s—

“It’s the Unit Chief. Just a moment……”

It seemed Unit Chief Hong Jaegyeol’s number had appeared.

It was rather strange.

What could possibly require a phone call inside the HIB building?

If it were that urgent, we would normally use our smartwatches, which have a paging function.

It was the moment I was about to check my smartwatch.

Ikseong instinctively moved toward the interrogation room door, and I was jerked along by the special handcuffs, causing my chair to whip backward.

“Whoa…!”

The moment I thought I was helplessly falling backward and about to crack the back of my head open.

The chair stopped just before hitting the floor.

When I opened my eyes, Ikseong’s face was quite close.

“Ah. My apologies. I momentarily forgot the fact that you were handcuffed.”

Just as Kwon Ikseong said that and was about to unlock my handcuffs.

My eyes went wide as I spoke.

“…I think I really need to think about it.”

“About what…”

“That… dating thing.”

Yes. Of course, having such a handsome face so close makes my heart flutter immensely, but I have no idea if this is love for my bias or genuine attraction to an actual human being.

Or it might just be a natural reaction to an aesthetically perfect face…….

…Wait, no, isn’t this a matter that doesn’t really require going as far as a fake relationship?

No matter how I think about it, the claim that Choi Woojin has fallen for me seems like a stretch.

…Because those two lines were tangled in my head, this was what came out of my mouth.

“I am looking for love!”

…?

…?

Seeing Ikseong’s bewildered expression, I squeezed my eyes shut.

Lee Yuji, single since birth—ah! I did it again today!

I recalled a memory from my childhood when I confessed to the older boy next door that I would marry him, only to see him kissing another girl the next day and asking how he could do that to me when I’d planned on having two daughters and three sons.

‘That was the last confession of my life.’

After that, I was too busy training.

And so, having pulled another stunt, I spoke to Ikseong with my eyes closed.

“I’m sorry, but could you please just let go of my hand…”

But Ikseong didn’t let go of my hand. He simply pulled my chair back up to a standing position just like that.

Then, as he quietly removed the ring from my hand, he spoke.

“I see.”

What do you mean, ‘I see.’

He was so calm about it that it made it even more embarrassing.

As I was gritting my teeth.

Someone kicked open the interrogation room door.

“Team Leader! Right now, the computers in the HIB building…”

It was Ham Ina.

An ominous premonition flashed through my mind.

And it seemed I wasn’t the only one who felt that premonition.

Ikseong dashed outside like lightning.

I followed him out of the interrogation room, and what entered my sight was—

The exact same words and character appearing on every single computer screen inside the HIB.

A fox character grinning brightly with a cheerful face, and—

Lee Yuji, you are the reason I live♡

Is this rhyme for real?

“What is the meaning of this?”

“It’s a message that arrived from ‘The Gamer.’ We are currently decrypting the cipher, but it most likely…”

The voices of Kwon Ikseong and Ham Ina drifted from behind me.

“…seems related to Investigator Lee Yuji.”

Ham Ina spoke while glancing toward me.

So that really is a message related to me?

Why on earth?

While thinking that, I suddenly recalled how Choi Woojin was ‘concerned’ about me in the Special Side Story.

Soon, I could see Pi Sowon walking toward me from a distance with a furious expression.

While Ham Ina went to another team member for a moment, Kwon Ikseong looked toward Pi Sowon and then stuck close to my side.

He leaned his head slightly toward me and whispered in a low voice, maintaining a distance where his breath almost touched me.

“I hope you’ll consider what I suggested.”

“The dating?”

Unconsciously, my voice lowered as well.

Kwon Ikseong hesitated for a moment before answering.

“I am talking about a fake relationship.”

I’ve heard of undercover investigations, but this is the first I’ve heard of undercover office romance.

Kwon Ikseong stepped in front of me, blocking my view of Pi Sowon.

“I believe the Gamer is somewhere near Investigator Lee Yuji. And he… likes you.”

“Excuse me…”

“I know.”

He said, staring intently at me.

“That it’s hard to believe. But you must believe me. Investigator Lee Yuji, you once said that I am a person who trusts others.”

“Yes, I did say that…”

I muttered, recalling the incident on the bus.

“I’ve never thought of myself that way. Because I don’t trust anyone. You might think it’s presumptuous for someone like me to ask for your trust, but—”

Ikseong’s face also looked strangely anxious.

“The Gamer likes you.”

You.

Hearing the pure second-person pronoun without a job title made me feel strange.

“And whoever it is, they will be watching Investigator Lee Yuji’s private life. Investigator Lee Yuji is in a dangerous situation in many ways. You need someone to protect you without getting caught.”

Because the words that followed were so calm and yet so emotional.

Choi Woojin, the ‘Gamer,’ is watching anyone, anywhere.

Because that is his skill.

But he likes me?

When did he even see me?

A sense of déjà vu washed over me.

The words that many things are getting twisted in this life because of you kept ringing in my ears.

‘It’s strange.’

My mind was in a state of confusion, but Kwon Ikseong’s next words were even more confusing.

“Don’t trust anyone.”

And yet you’re telling me to trust only you?

To appeal to someone so illogically and emotionally.

That was something I couldn’t have expected from my bias in the novel.

It was very strange.

To think that ‘the’ Kwon Ikseong I know is actually rambling.

And at the same moment, Pi Sowon arrived in front of me.

“I opened your computer. I had no choice. Things are sensitive right now.”

“Pardon? Oh, yes.”

Ah, right. This is a time when the words ‘I am the reason for his life’ have come out of a criminal’s mouth.

Even if it’s a confession that looks like a mockery to anyone.

“I saw the five animal videos and the collection of strange CCTV footage. Very well done.”

“…!”

It seemed my habit of rewatching the footage every time I possessed someone had been completely found out.

“Why on earth were you watching a video of a slime mating with another slime?”

“…That wasn’t mating! It was friction to remove surface residue!”

I quickly clarified, conscious of Kwon Ikseong beside me, but Pi Sowon didn’t look like she particularly believed me.

“Other than your strange sexual interests, there was no suspicious circumstantial evidence.”

“Hey…”

If you put it that way, how weird is my ‘looking for love’ going to look?!

It was then.

If you raise Hunter Lee Yuji’s salary, I’ll give you one hint about my identity.

The text displayed on the numerous monitors changed.

And simultaneously—

I have plenty to say about the incident 8 years ago, too.

……A very strange sentence appeared.

The incident 8 years ago.

Pi Sowon reacted to the words I didn’t recognize.

“Ha.”

And at the same time, as if he were watching us all, the fox character put on sunglasses again.

The text on the screen changed once more.

If you don’t like it, just live with your computers dead like this.

The fox’s tongue poked out far.

It was a ‘bleh.’

The sound of the file folder in the enraged Pi Sowon’s hand being crushed rang out.

Byeon Gudo, who was following behind her, furrowed his brows.

“There she goes, crushing another file folder.”
