“Siyoung, have you arrived at the dungeon?”
As if spitting on a smiling face, Gong Siyoung’s shouting followed.
─ You crazy human!! I’m not doing it! I can’t! You had nothing better to do than to bring these psychos?!
“Our Siyoung has quite a lot to say to his hyung, doesn’t he?”
He had a smiling face, but strangely, a murderous aura overflowed from him. Julian quietly set down his water cup.
The voice was so thunderous that he could hear exactly what Gong Siyoung was replying.
─ What am I supposed to do with them! I can’t do this, I won’t! Send them back right now!!
“Siyoung. No matter how much you scream, you have to enter the dungeon with them anyway. Why? Because I’m the Guild Master. If the Guild Master tells you to do it, you do it even if you don’t want to. Why? Because you’re my younger brother.”
At the remark that he should have been born first if he didn’t like it, Julian almost nodded his head without realizing it.
That’s right. If your hyung tells you to do something, you should do it. Not to mention, he’s your hyung and your superior?
‘If they tell you to dig, you dig.’
To Julian, who was soaked in the logic of absolute obedience to orders, it was a logic as natural as breathing.
The moment you disobeyed a superior’s order, you had no right to complain even if your head was cut off. Because he had lived his whole life in such a world, Gong Siyoung’s attitude felt foreign. If insubordination reached that level, it seemed to be at a serious stage.
However, Gong Sijin absorbed all that irritation with a gentle smile. His answer remained consistent.
“Do it because I told you to.”
While Julian was clicking his spoon against his empty bowl in deep empathy, the conversation reached its conclusion before he knew it.
Putting the device into his pocket, Gong Sijin offered an apology.
“I’m sorry for making you wait. Shall we get going since you’ve finished eating?”
Julian quickly stuffed the last piece of meat into his mouth.
“By the way, that thing from earlier, is it like a communication tool?”
“Ah, this? It’s called a cell phone. As you said, it’s a machine for communication.”
He pulled out the cell phone he had put in his pocket and showed it. So that’s called a cell phone.
At the question of whether he could touch it, Gong Sijin readily handed over the cell phone.
“I heard Gong Siyoung’s voice, so I was curious.”
“Haha. It was a bit noisy, wasn’t it? Siyoung must be grumpy because he has to go into a dungeon. It’s because I… forcibly put a team together for him.”
“Forcibly?”
Is there a reason to go out of your way to forcibly put a team together? At those words, Gong Sijin trailed off as if he were in a difficult position.
“It’s a bit of a complicated story… You know that Siyoung is S-rank, right? Not only is his rank high, but because his personality is, well, not very honest, he gets misunderstood a lot. His interpersonal relationships aren’t exactly smooth.”
Being an S-rank, of which there were only a few in the country, made him difficult enough to approach, but even looking at him favorably, Gong Siyoung’s personality was like trash.
He didn’t have ill intentions, but because everything from his way of speaking to his attitude was grumpy, everyone strangely avoided him.
Furthermore, the fact that he was a family member of the Guild Master became a factor that created distance. Unlike Gong Sijin, who was good at social maneuvering, Gong Siyoung quickly made enemies with just a few words of conversation.
Since he was young, lacked manners, and constantly spat out unwelcome blunt truths, he had no choice but to become increasingly isolated.
“I put together a team of kids who I thought would treat Siyoung without discrimination… but once I gathered them, it was a bit… anyway, it seems Siyoung doesn’t like them.”
“I see.”
It seemed like the consideration of a direct superior dealing with a soldier who needed special attention.
Julian handed back his cell phone. Since it was his younger brother, he must have been even more concerned about him being an outcast. Julian fully understood Gong Sijin’s heart.
“Still, Siyoung listens to my words well.”
“It looks that way.”
Julian nodded. Even while grumbling that he hated it, he didn’t skip out on the things he secretly had to do.
Though they had only been together for a day, he had roughly grasped what kind of person Gong Siyoung was.
Someone who truly didn’t listen wouldn’t argue in that manner. Why put in the effort if you weren’t going to do it anyway? They would just pretend to listen and then slack off.
After that, the two talked about this and that as they went back up to the second floor.
Gong Sijin was a very easy person to converse with. Kind answers flowed out whenever he asked.
Now that the ‘Wow, what is this, forbidden to be amazed’ was lifted, Julian also poured out questions actively.
By the time he heard that people in this country have things called conception dreams, and that Gong Sijin’s conception dream was a tiger while Gong Siyoung’s was a rose blooming in a Yuri castle, Jung Mirae called his name again.
“Mr. Julian, please come inside.”
Before entering, Gong Sijin approached her. After the two shared a serious conversation, he beckoned to Julian.
“She says it’s okay for us to go in together.”
Jung Mirae and Gong Sijin called for Julian. Entering the room for the second time, Julian moved his steps leisurely.
With a full stomach and having done it once before, he no longer had any hesitation.
Before Jung Mirae could speak, he took his stance like before and placed his hand on the device. The tingling sensation felt longer than the first time.
However, even this time, nothing like a status window appeared. Looking at the unresponsive device, the two exchanged words about this and that.
As for Julian, it was nothing but boring. Since he couldn’t understand even if he listened to the conversation, his interest quickly cooled. Because there was no instruction to take his hand off, he kept his posture and rolled his eyes around.
Inside the room, besides the black device, it was full of unknown objects. Most of them were machines, and no mana could be felt.
Ooooong. Following the vibrating flow of air, Julian’s gaze became fixed on the ceiling.
Cool air was flowing out of a rectangular, long hole where a light was on. That’s not magic either, right? His heart felt strangely ticklish at the cool breeze lightly brushing his cheeks.
“Mr. Yuri, could you perhaps use a skill now? Anything is fine.”
Julian looked behind him. Jung Mirae was busily writing something down, and next to her, he saw Gong Sijin with a serious face.
A skill probably meant magic, right? He quickly racked his brain for what magic would be usable here.
“Umm…”
It was a narrow space, and mana was hopelessly insufficient. It might be different if he had magic stones, but here… at most, 1st Circle?
What would be something he could do without causing damage to the surroundings? After pondering, Julian eventually reached his hand forward.
He drove energy into his palm. 1st Circle mana gathered. He held his breath while following the flow with his eyes. Trying to scrape together what wasn’t there required more concentration than usual.
A stone the size of a thumbnail was created on his hand. The round surface was as smooth as if it had been carved.
“It’s really tiny.”
If it were his original world, it would have been at least the size of a fist.
He smacked his lips in disappointment. If he had known it would be like this, he would have gathered every single magic stone he had and carried them in his arms. With no sword to boot, this level of ability made him no different from an ordinary person.
While he rolled the stone in his palm, Gong Sijin’s sigh was heard. He scratched his head.
“You can come out now, Mr. Yuri.”
Did the result come out in an unwanted direction? Julian, who crushed the stone with his hand, approached the two.
“Ms. Mirae, so further verification is difficult here?”
“Yes. For now, this is the best we can do. Seeing him use a skill, he definitely seems to be a Hunter… but this is my first time seeing a case like this, so it’s perplexing.”
It’s magic, not a skill. He thought about correcting her but kept his mouth shut. Judging by the expressions of the two, it wasn’t a situation to jump into right now.
While Julian was fidgeting and playing with the stone dust, once again, a conversation full of words he could hardly understand went back and forth for a long time.
He let talk of ‘rank evaluation’ and ‘detailed examination at the main office’ go in one ear and out the other.
Come to think of it, he had to go find his sword. He should try asking once the conversation ended.
Phoo. He blew a breath onto his palm. Watching the stone dust scatter, he brushed his hands off.
“I understand. Please keep this confidential for the time being.”
Gong Sijin gave a polite bow. His expression wasn’t good due to the lack of significant results.
“It won’t be easy to see. Not knowing Mr. Yuri’s ability… boy, what to do…”
He scratched his head. If they went to the main office for a precision inspection, the procedures would become that much more rigid. Even at the fastest, it would take a month…
Even so, he couldn’t just keep Gong Siyoung attached to Julian’s side during that time.
A few days and a month were different units. The world wouldn’t end if Gong Siyoung was gone for a few days, but it might end if he was gone for a whole month.
He only needed to find out the rank, but he hadn’t expected finding that rank would be this tricky.
Though he was smiling kindly, Gong Sijin did not yet trust Julian. It was hard to be certain what kind of secret he might be hiding behind that face that seemed to have no thoughts.
It would be easier to grasp if he used a skill like earlier…
‘Skill?’
At that moment, a flashing thought came to mind. Gong Sijin smiled brightly and grabbed Julian’s shoulder.
“Mr. Yuri, by any chance, don’t you want to enter a dungeon?”
