“Purification!”

It felt as though the awl piercing through her head was gradually shrinking. Her blurry vision brightened slightly.

The one holding her hand was a round jelly with long ears. The jelly’s round eyes were brimming with worry.

“…Damie.”

Bora blinked her downcast eyes repeatedly. But despite her surprise, she felt as if she might fall asleep at any moment.

She cupped the jelly’s face in both her hands.

The more she touched the jelly, the more a refreshing sensation washed over her. It felt as if the fog in her head was lifting.

“Damie…”

“Unnie…”

Ping. Tears welled up in the jelly’s eyes.

At that sight, Bora smiled slightly.

“…You’ve become so cute…”

And then, as if a fuse had blown, everything went black.

* * *

“…?”

Unnie?

I gaped, my mouth hanging open in a daze.

As Bora Unnie’s body began to tilt, Brother caught her and held her in his arms.

I looked up at Unnie worriedly.

Then, my eyes met Brother’s as he looked down at me.

His gentle eyes curved into a warm smile.

“It’s okay. She just fainted for a moment.”

Speaking nonchalantly, Brother brushed the back of his hand against my face.

“Why is our princess’s face so pitch-black? A crow might ask you to be its friend.”

“…!”

I patted my face with both hands to shake it off. It seemed my face was covered in dust kicked up during the battle between Cha Haeeon and Unnie earlier.

With a small chuckle, Brother looked around while still holding Bora Unnie.

On the rooftop where broken debris fluttered in the wind, Cha Haeeon and Captain Gong Juwon stood there stupidly, as if they had lost their words.

I belatedly realized their presence and let out a sharp gasp.

It was only natural for them to be speechless.

Since the webfoot octopus I had been carrying around had turned into a human.

And not just anyone…

“How… the Quasar Guild Master…?”

Captain Gong Juwon muttered.

That’s right. Brother was Do Kyeol, the Guild Master of Quasar.

A man no Korean could possibly fail to recognize.

And Cha Haeeon was…

“You look like you have a lot you want to say.”

The moment Brother calmly opened his mouth, Cha Haeeon shot forward like a flash of light and grabbed Brother by the collar.

“You’re saying you’re Guild Master Do Kyeol?”

His low voice sounded like a growl.

“…!”

Thinking Cha Haeeon might hit Brother at any moment, I grabbed Brother’s pant leg and squeezed my eyes shut.

“It’s been a long time, Haeeon.”

“…?!”

At Brother’s casual tone, I slowly opened my eyes. Are they not going to fight?

Smiling broadly, Brother patted my head as if to soothe me.

“Could you let go for now? Damie is getting scared.”

“Damie, you say…”

Since Cha Haeeon was looking down at me, I narrowed my eyes into triangles and glared back at him.

At that, Cha Haeeon’s shoulders flinched.

“Let go of Oppa!”

At my sharp command, the strength left Cha Haeeon’s hands.

Brother let out a chuckle and said,

“Shall we head home first?”

* * *

Gong Juwon watched Do Kyeol’s back with a dazed expression before ruffling his own hair.

Had the contamination reached his brain as well? He felt as if he were losing his mind.

If it was Quasar, it was the guild representing Korea, formed by Guild Master Do Kyeol by gathering all the S-ranks.

Of course, that was until everyone was presumed dead from the Yongsan Dungeon Break.

Just then, Kyeol, who was holding Bora, turned around.

“Where should I put Bora? She needs some sleep.”

“Ah, please lay her down in my room.”

After laying the still-unconscious Kwon Bora in Gong Juwon’s room, everyone gathered in Cha Haeeon’s room.

Four people—no, three people and one alien—sat in a circle.

“….”

“….”

“….”

While everyone sat in silence, lost in their own thoughts, Do Kyeol, wearing a playful smile, was the first to speak.

“You all were very surprised that an octopus turned into a human, weren’t you?”

“We’re surprised because you’re alive!”

“…Is he really an idiot?”

Gong Juwon stood up and shouted abruptly, while Haeeon, who had his arms crossed, muttered blankly.

“Ahahaha, please calm down.”

Do Kyeol calmed the group with a casual laugh.

At this, Gong Juwon asked with quite a serious face.

“May I ask what happened? How you managed to survive…”

Do Kyeol tilted his head and stroked his chin.

“I thought I was dead for sure, too.”

The monsters in the Yongsan Dungeon were not single entities.

Everyone let out a low groan as they looked at the massive swarms of monsters covering the sky and the ground.

There were many who wanted to flee in terror, but everyone from Quasar gripped their weapons.

If they retreated now, it was certain that massive casualties would follow.

Perhaps the survival of the nation rested in their hands.

They didn’t have much of a choice.

“Let’s go.”

Do Kyeol led the way, and Quasar followed.

They advanced, fighting in a state of trance.

Even when arms were torn off or abdomens were pierced, they had no choice but to grit their teeth and move forward.

Reminding themselves that their loved ones were out there.

And when he felt that even his head was gone.

He saw a light.

Though everything went black immediately after, as if a TV had been turned off.

And when he opened his eyes again, crushed by the brilliant light, he had been completely contaminated and turned into a massive mutant.

“That’s about as much as I remember.”

Do Kyeol spoke lightly, waving his hands.

At that, Do Dam crawled over to his side and buried her face in his thigh. His thigh became damp in an instant.

He stroked his younger sister’s squishy body with a gentle touch.

“Then the Calamity of U-Park was… truly…”

“Yes, it was me.”

In contrast to Do Kyeol’s light response, the atmosphere grew solemn.

Kyeol spoke toward Haeeon before the silence could stretch too long.

“Haeeon, if you have anything you’re curious about, ask quickly. We don’t have much time.”

“Time? Why don’t we have time?”

At Haeeon’s question, Kyeol’s eyebrows drooped.

“The human skin is temporary.”

“Whaaat?!”

Dam raised her head sharply in shock. The imprints of her eyes, nose, and mouth remained clearly on his thigh.

Kyeol laughed softly at the sight and said regretfully,

“The skin has a time limit. 5 hours.”

Sparks flew from Dam’s eyes.

You b*stard, Kim Taekkwon! I should have known when you called it a “CEO Authority Coupon”!

Whether it truly mimicked a CEO because it was an anomaly, it was doing the exact same thing as the head of a game company.

Kyeol patted Dam as she rolled around in indignation, then met Haeeon’s eyes.

Their gazes locked.

Haeeon and Kyeol had known each other for a long time. Even before entering Yongsan, they had become acquainted through joint civil-military training.

“Haeeon. How did you get out of the Yongsan Dungeon?”

“….”

Haeeon, who had been silent for a while, gave a light shrug.

“I just woke up and found myself here, too.”

“Is that all?”

“Yes.”

A brief silence hung between the two.

“Shall we talk privately for a moment?”

“Let’s do that.”

As Do Kyeol stood up, Haeeon followed behind him.

Kyeol whispered softly to Dam, who was blinking blankly.

“Oppa  will be right back.”

Dam nodded with a face that was disappointed but understanding.

It was the moment Do Kyeol and Haeeon stepped outside and entered the kitchen.

Slam—!

Do Kyeol grabbed Haeeon by the collar and shoved him hard against the wall.

“Haeeon… no, should I call you Lieutenant Colonel Cha now?”

“Yes, Guild Master Do.”

“How am I supposed to interpret this?”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“I’m asking what your true identity is.”
