The Jelly Alien Will Save You! Chapter 51
Yap-yap! Yap!
One of the doppelgangers clung to my ankle.
I shook my foot vigorously.
Thump. Boing!
The doppelgänger was tossed aside, bounced back up, and lunged at me again.
“Ah, seriously!”
I gnashed my teeth in a fit of rage.
“Cha Haeeon—!”
At that moment, a light flickered on deep inside the headquarters.
Thud! The sound of something massive bouncing off the floor reached us.
The thing that came rolling down the stairs looked larger and squishier than the other slimes.
‘The texture is different.’
I stared at it tensely.
Even if you watched it while doing a forward roll, that’s clearly the boss, isn’t it?!
* * *
When Cha Haeeon entered the lobby, small slimes were strewn across the floor.
They were all doppelgängers.
The stronger the visitor, the stronger the doppelgänger becomes.
Furthermore, swarming in such numbers made them a rather troublesome opponent.
Confirming his theory was correct, he turned his head to look for Dam.
At the top of the lobby’s staircase landing.
A grand boss battle was unfolding there.
“Yap-yap-yap-yap!”
“Yap-yap-yap-yap-yap-yap!”
The two jelly aliens were firing off rapid-fire punches at each other.
Their jelly fists repeatedly bounced off their jelly bodies.
“….”
Haeeon froze at a scene that was truly beyond his imagination. No matter if they were doppelgängers, to think they would be so evenly matched…
Kwon Bora, who followed behind him belatedly, had wavering eyes.
“There are two of our Dam…?”
Just then, the two jelly aliens whipped their heads around.
“Bora Unnie!”
“Bora Unnie!”
“Don’t copy me!”
“You’re the one!”
Arrrrgh—
The doppelgänger boss and Dam bared their teeth at each other.
“Yap-yap-yap-yap!”
“Yap-yap-yap-yap-yap-yap!”
Pitter-patter! Pitter-patter!
Bora kept uttering, “Oh my goodness. I can’t believe this,” while alternating her gaze between the two jelly aliens. Whatever the case, she seemed even more satisfied now that there were two of these cute things.
“Stop, stop.”
Haeeon intervened, stopping the jelly aliens from throwing uppercuts at one another.
“Don’t stop me!”
“Let me go!”
“Yap-yap-yap-yap!”
“Yap-yap-yap-yap-yap-yap!”
Haeeon watched with a hint of admiration as Dam managed to land two extra hits on her opponent during the frantic scuffle.
It appeared that absolutely no damage was going through, but her sheer obsession with winning at least in the number of hits punched out brought out a sense of wonder.
While he was curious to see who would ultimately emerge victorious in this epic battle…
“That’s enough now.”
He lightly scooped Dam up.
“…!”
They looked identical and were dressed identical, but identifying her was simple.
Because Haeeon was holding the lead to Dam’s harness in his hand.
At that moment, Dam hugged Haeeon’s neck tightly and shot a triumphant glare at the doppelgänger boss.
“It’s no use mimicking me. My companions can recognize me in an instant!”
“…!”
The doppelgänger boss’s face froze in shock.
Dam puffed out her chest, basking in the “unbreakable bond that distinguishes a doppelgänger from a comrade in an instant” often seen in other media.
Thus, Haeeon decided not to mention that he had been holding the lead to her harness.
Meanwhile, the doppelgänger boss, Mimic Jelly, remained frozen for a long while.
“…No.”
Mimic Jelly muttered.
“There’s no way I could be this weak…”
The pupils looking down at its own body that had turned into jelly shook. As if it couldn’t believe that it had taken on such a utterly weak body.
For Mimic Jelly, a cooldown period existed before it could transform from one recognized entity into another.
In other words, it currently could not transform into a stronger entity.
Before long, Mimic Jelly’s body began to slowly collapse like a deflating balloon.
Its once-chewy torso spread out to the sides before curling back inward.
Pshhhhh—
The long ears folded in, and the jelly alien transformed back into a chewy slime.
Having returned to its original form, Mimic Jelly spoke in a dejected voice.
“Too weak. A weak one came. This has never happened before…”
It made sense.
In this place that had become a paradise for mutants, a creature as pathetic and weak as Dam would never normally visit.
Everyone who came must have been confident in their skills, and that anomaly would have transformed into its opponent to gain strong power.
So, the creature was close to being the absolute worst matchup for Dam.
“Do you want to get beaten up again?!”
However, Dam, who had absolutely no idea that she was that weak, shook her small fists threateningly.
At that, Mimic Jelly shriveled up smaller and smaller.
Dam must have quite liked that sight, as she stepped down onto the floor and shot a purification beam at Mimic Jelly.
Then, she picked up the newly bouncy Mimic Jelly and handed it over into Brother’s embrace. The Octopus used his tentacles to place Mimic Jelly on top of his head.
It resulted in a look where an octopus and a slime were stacked on top of the jelly’s head like a double-scoop ice cream cone.
“You’re my Planetmon now. Because I won.”
At Dam’s declaration, Bora clapped her hands.
Dam tilted her nose high into the air.
From Haeeon’s perspective, it looked more like the opponent had forfeited rather than Dam winning, but he figured if Dam was satisfied, then so be it.
“Now, let’s go farming.”
Dam pitter-pattered up the stairs.
When Haeeon moved while holding the harness lead, Dam shivered, untied the strap, and tossed it away.
“I’m not doing this!”
Haeeon packed away the rope with a slightly disappointed expression.
* * *
Bora Unnie strode up the stairs first.
“Damie, be careful on the stairs.”
Unnie said as she turned around, and seeing Cha Haeeon holding me, she smiled broadly.
“I’m glad Haeeon is looking after our Dam so well.”
“It’s not really like that…”
Cha Haeeon tried to argue back, but Unnie stepped into the office before he could even finish his sentence.
I giggled and tapped Cha Haeeon on the head, and he turned away as if annoyed.
Creeeeak—
The inside of the office was more organized than expected.
On one side of the wall, dolls were lined up on a shelf, and on the opposite side, there was a wardrobe.
On top of the desk, unorganized documents and a mug remained exactly as they were left.
As if someone had just stepped out for a brief moment.
“This is the room I used to use. It’s a bit of a mess, isn’t it?”
Speaking bashfully, Bora Unnie opened the wardrobe.
Click.
Inside, combat uniforms and civilian clothes hung mixed together.
Bora Unnie began to pack every single piece of clothing into a large shopping bag.
Her tail swayed gently, as if she were somewhat enjoying herself.
I watched her with a smile, but seeing Unnie staring down at a pair of pants, I became dejected along with her.
The reason Unnie looked at pants with those eyes was surely because of her tail.
I had been pouring purification into Unnie as well, but perhaps because my level was still low, I was having difficulty purifying her completely.
It would be nice if I could level up quickly just like in a game…
Meanwhile, Cha Haeeon was checking the documents on the desk.
I clung to Cha Haeeon’s shoulder and checked the documents with him.
They were materials concerning the Yongsan Dungeon.
Cha Haeeon fell into thought while looking at a record stating, ‘Before the Yongsan Dungeon opened, a light was seen as if in passing.’
‘Come to think of it, everyone said they saw a light.’
What on earth was that?
Did that thing create the dungeon in Yongsan and turn Brother and Unnie into Calamities?
Just as I was lost in thought like Cha Haeeon.
Bora Unnie suddenly stood up.
“Since we’ve come all this way, shall we go look for items?”
“Items?”
As my eyes sparkled, Bora Unnie nodded.
“Yes. The equipment storage room.”
