Divorce in Bed Chapter 25

“Zurich, Switzerland.”

Dowon turned around and looked at Yeohwi. His silhouette, backlit, was dazzling.

“The reality of the inheritance your grandfather left behind is there. Bearer bonds and physical stock certificates kept in a private vault.”

“Yes.”

“To liquidate those and establish a paper fund, you, the titleholder, must go yourself. Proxies are not allowed.”

“To Switzerland? Me?”

Yeohwi’s light brown eyes dilated significantly.

“Yes. I’ll have a private jet ready tomorrow night. The top elites from the legal and security teams will accompany you. You just need to go secretly with them.”

Wait a minute. An overseas business trip?

The war he had jumped into without knowing any better was now about to cross borders.

“I’ll keep the great-uncle’s attention on me over here. We need to finish this quickly and discreetly before he notices anything suspicious.”

“W-wait a minute.”

Yeohwi shook his head. His soft brown hair fluttered in the air.

“Still, wouldn’t it be dangerous? He’ll know the moment a private jet takes off.”

“I’ll pull some strings on my end, so don’t worry.”

“No.”

Yeohwi blocked him firmly.

“No matter how secretly we move, we don’t know where information might leak. Me, suddenly heading to Switzerland with a legal team… if we’re caught, it’s over. There’s no guarantee his people won’t be crawling all over the airport either.”

“That’s why I said I’m attaching a security team.”

“Even so.”

Yeohwi took a step closer. Dowon’s thick eyebrows twitched.

“Then, what exactly do you plan to do? We can’t send a proxy.”

Then, Yeohwi’s clear eyes flashed brilliantly and turned audaciously sharp.

“Instead of doing that, how about Mister Dowon goes with me?”

“What?”

“You know about the Trojan Horse, right? If you’re going to deceive enemies, you have to strike them where they least expect it, in a completely different way that no one would imagine.”

Dowon’s expression froze coldly. His eyes looked as if he were listening to utter nonsense.

But Yeohwi did not back down easily.

“A honeymoon.”

Yeohwi’s eyes sparkled strangely. He looked dangerous and alluring, like a predator luring prey into a trap.

“It’s been over two months since we got married. We’re going on the honeymoon now that we’ve put off because we were busy. Wouldn’t that look very plausible to outsiders?”

“Ha, you’ve lost your mind. Denied.”

He was rejected flatly.

“Why? If we go under that pretext, it won’t raise suspicion.”

“The moment I vacate my seat, Do Jingyu will track my movements. A honeymoon? You think that kind of excuse will work?”

“It will work.”

Yeohwi spoke with a voice full of conviction.

“Because the location is Switzerland.”

“…”

“The picture of a busy husband being dragged along as if unable to win against the tantrums of an immature young groom who wants to spend a romantic time looking at the snowy scenery of the Alps. Who would be suspicious if I say I’ve been pestering you every day?”

Dowon was silent. He looked as if he were quickly running calculations.

It was clearly a high-risk proposal. But at the same time, it was a bold disguise that could catch Do Jingyu off guard. A Dowon being swayed by a young groom—it was a scenario Do Jingyu would most cheer for while letting his guard down.

At least, more so than moving a legal and security team…

Dowon fell into deep contemplation with his arms crossed.

Only the sound of the clock hands in the study filled the silence. Yeohwi held his breath and waited only for Dowon’s lips to open.

After a long while, Dowon slowly raised his head.

“…Fine.”

He muttered lowly in a husky, rasping voice.

“I’ll accept that proposal.”

Just as joy was about to spread across Yeohwi’s face, Dowon raised his index finger to stop him.

“Instead, if we’re going to do it, we have to do it properly.”

Dowon approached Yeohwi. A pitch-black shadow covered him.

His gaze slowly scanned Yeohwi’s reddened cheeks, his minutely trembling eyelashes, and his tightly shut red lips.

“You have to make them think that you aren’t going to find money, but that you’re just desperate to go play and roll around with your husband.”

Yeohwi swallowed hard. His heart thundered as if it were broken. Whenever he was with Dowon, his pulse raced as if he were having a seizure at any moment, and it was driving him crazy.

“Of course.”

Yeohwi answered, looking straight into Dowon’s eyes.

“No, we should show it off to the point where rumors spread far and wide.”

That was exactly what Seong Yeohwi wanted.

“From the moment we step into the airport, we have to be the closest couple in the world, so in love that we can’t live without each other. Even after we go to Switzerland, we have to be stuck together 24 hours a day, and of course, we’ll have to share the same room at the hotel.”

Yeohwi took another step closer. Now the distance between the two was barely the thickness of a sheet of paper.

“If rumors spread that Mister Dowon is so fallen for a kid that he’s lost his senses, it’ll create a much clearer opening to strike Do Jingyu.”

“…”

“I’ve already stepped deep into this anyway. And now, I have a resolve, a plan, and my determination… is set.”

Finally.

His white, clear cheeks flushed and his nostrils quivered. A heavy, sticky tension filled the air between them.

This very moment felt like a miraculous opportunity to fulfill a lifelong wish. Just the thought of it made the blood in his veins feel like it was flowing backward. Yeohwi’s gaze shone provocatively.

“At least it’s worth a try. Don’t you think so, honey?”

Dowon burst into a hollow laugh.

This brat was now trying to toy with him. Yet, the audacity that rushed in without knowing its limits and the will that wouldn’t break no matter how much it was trampled strangely didn’t grate on him like before. Had he grown used to it? If anything, it made Dowon’s blood boil.

“…Look at that tongue-wagging.”

Dowon chuckled and gave Yeohwi’s forehead a light tap with his finger.

“You look like you’re dying of happiness because things went your way. But the reality is still just a business trip.”

“Still, on the surface, it’s a honeymoon.”

“Just think about acting properly. You played the trophy husband last time; this time you have to do it in Europe.”

“Same to you, Mister Dowon. Can you properly pull off the role of a husband whipped for a younger man? If it’s hard, I can be your practice partner starting now.”

His heart beat so fiercely it felt like it would burst out of his ribs. He was even scared Dowon might hear it.

Dowon turned around and headed for the desk.

“Go and pack. We leave in three days.”

“Yes!”

Yeohwi nodded vigorously. His flowing hair slapped against his cheeks. An irrepressible joy spread across his face.

Yeohwi dashed out of the study, clutching his overflowing heart. His footsteps running down the hallway were as light as walking on clouds.

‘Honeymoon…! Honeymoon…!’

Even if this was just a smoke screen to move a massive amount of funds, it didn’t matter. The agreement was made. All that was left now was to become a perfect ‘newlywed couple’ and head to the Alps.

Just imagining the nights he would spend alone with Dowon under the perennial snow of the Alps made Yeohwi’s heart feel like it was already soaring through the sky.

Three days later, the morning of the departure. The silence of the calm before the storm flowed in the villa’s dressing room.

The two people stood facing each other.

Surprisingly, Dowon was directly checking over Yeohwi’s attire.

“This should do.”

In place of the loose hoodies Yeohwi usually enjoyed wearing, a soft cream-colored cashmere knit and a beige long coat that reached his ankles wrapped around his body. It was a date outfit that made his excitement obvious to anyone.

Dowon had also removed his suffocating tie and draped a long trench coat over his shirt, creating an atmosphere that was much softer and more languid than usual.

“Get ready.”

Dowon’s long fingers tidied Yeohwi’s coat collar.

That touch was obsessive rather than affectionate. He looked like a programmer fixing the final detail of a code he had written.

“From the moment we step out of the entrance, the eyes Do Jingyu planted will be targeting us like landmines on the floor. They’ll be trying to catch a scent to confirm if we’re really going to play or if we’re up to something else.”

“Yes, I know. I’m ready.”

Yeohwi looked at the reflection of the two of them in the full-length mirror. Dowon and Seong Yeohwi standing side by side in the mirror. Since they were dressed in casual clothes completely different from their usual style, it finally felt real that he was going on a trip with him. Even if this was just a disguise wearing the shell of a newlywed couple.

Yeohwi, who had been peeking repeatedly at the hem of the trench coat Dowon was wearing, licked his dry lips and spoke.

“But, Mister Dowon… will you really be okay?”

“With what.”

“That is, from now on with me… no, it’s nothing.”

“Seong Yeohwi, being cheeky again.”

“I’m sorry.”

Dowon, having finished arranging the bangs nicely one last time, turned away from Yeohwi.

“Let’s go. Follow me.”

At those nonchalantly tossed words, Yeohwi smiled broadly while stroking the ends of the hair where his touch had lingered. Finally, it was the real beginning.
