Divorce in Bed Chapter 26
Incheon International Airport, Corporate Aviation Terminal (SGBAC). Dowon’s black sedan glided to a halt.
At that moment, the lurking paparazzi and reporters aimed their cameras like a pack of hyenas discovering prey. It was clear that Do Jingyu’s side had intentionally leaked the top-secret departure information.
“He’s coming out! It’s Director Dowon!”
“Is that his spouse next to him?”
It happened the instant the car door opened.
A barrage of pouring flashes burned his vision white. At the flash of light that felt like hundreds of bolts of lightning striking simultaneously, Yeohwi reflexively hunched his shoulders and froze.
He had braced himself, but he hadn’t expected it to be this intense. In that moment when his vision flickered and he nearly lost his sense of direction, a large, firm hand wrapped around the back of Yeohwi’s head.
“Keep your head down.”
It was Dowon.
As soon as he stepped out of the car, he roughly pulled Yeohwi’s shoulders into his embrace. Then, spreading the wide hem of his coat, he perfectly shielded Yeohwi’s face from the world.
“Director Do! Is it true that the purpose of this departure is a honeymoon?”
The reporters rushing forward with microphones hesitated, as if hitting an invisible wall against Dowon’s fierce gaze.
“Move aside, please.”
Dowon, keeping Yeohwi firmly trapped in his embrace, shouted in a voice as cold as frost.
“This is a strictly private personal schedule. I find it unpleasant that you are thrusting cameras without permission.”
Dowon’s gaze scanned the eyes behind the lenses one by one as if to tear them apart.
“If even a single shot of my spouse’s face is exposed to the media, or if any speculative articles are published, I will take all possible legal action through the KD Group legal team.”
A chilly silence followed. The noisy shutter sounds cut off abruptly as if by magic. Overwhelmed by Dowon’s overpowering aura, the reporters opened a path like the miracle of Moses.
The one who broke that gruesome silence was Yeohwi, who was held in Dowon’s arms.
“Darling!”
Yeohwi suddenly raised his head from Dowon’s chest and shouted loudly, purposefully making sure they heard.
“I want to go to the duty-free shop first! Can we? Please?”
Dowon’s shoulder flinched for a moment. He looked clearly flustered by the unannounced surprise attack.
“They said the luxury hall was newly remodeled. Let’s go look at watches for this season.”
Yeohwi grabbed Dowon’s arm and rubbed his face against his shoulder. He looked like an utterly immature newlywed groom. However, Dowon soon regained his composure and leisurely curled the corners of his mouth. His hand naturally wrapped around Yeohwi’s waist.
“Alright. Let’s go look.”
“Really? You’ll buy me a watch?”
“Buy whatever you want.”
The surrounding reporters and people buzzed with whispers. Dowon escorted Yeohwi and moved toward the inside of the terminal. To others, they looked like the back of the world’s happiest couple, but the muscles of the two people felt through their touching sides were taut with tension.
“Three cameras over there.”
Yeohwi whispered softly, barely moving his lips while keeping his smiling face.
“And behind the pillar at 5 o’clock, two in black suits. They’re continuing to follow us. They’re watching everything.”
Dowon affectionately brushed back Yeohwi’s messy bangs and brought his lips to his ear. To others, it would look like he was whispering sweet nothings, but the voice that could be heard was calm and cold.
“Ignore them.”
Dowon’s warm breath tickled his earlobe.
“Your gaze control is natural. Just keep doing this.”
Yeohwi fiddled with Dowon’s tie pin and looked up at him with eyes dripping with honey.
“But, are you really going to buy me a watch?”
“Wasn’t that why you said it? And quite openly at that.”
“Then can I choose a couple watch? It would be nice for us to wear the same product together.”
“Seong Yeohwi, stop talking nonsense.”
“Uh-oh, Mister Dowon. If you shoot such a fierce look, we’ll be caught immediately. You have to smile. Come on.”
“You fearless brat. Quite full of yourself, aren’t you?”
“You shouldn’t be swearing at me right now. I might just grab you and kiss you.”
“Go ahead, try it. Let’s see what happens.”
The breath against his ear and the grip of the hand around his waist were excessively vivid. When his waist began to ache as if it might crush, Yeohwi quickly surrendered.
“No, of course I’m joking… It’s a joke.”
“Your nonsense isn’t funny.”
“Ye-es. Let’s hurry and go look at watches, watches!”
The two purchased Patek Philippe Nautilus 5811 models at the boutique located in the airport duty-free area. It was a masterpiece with a white gold case and a sunburst blue dial. Not only did one cost hundreds of millions, but it was a model difficult to obtain even with money.
Let alone two.
They came out wearing one on each of their wrists. Then, they clearly left an impression on those who were secretly following their affectionate appearance.
‧₊˚🍊༉‧₊˚.
The silver wings of the KD Group private jet shimmered, showing off its dignity on the runway.
“Please board, Director.”
As they entered the cabin to the polite greetings of the flight attendants, a luxurious and comfortable space unfolded, as if a hotel suite had been moved directly inside.
The smell of soft leather, subtle lighting, and the scent of top-quality champagne. Only after the door closed and the interior was perfectly cut off from the outside did Dowon let go of Yeohwi.
Yeohwi plopped down onto the sofa as if his tension had vanished, but his gaze remained fixed on his wrist.
The blue dial shone brilliantly under the lights.
The same watch as Dowon. A couple watch.
To be honest, he had extorted it by force, but he was so happy inside that the corners of his mouth kept twitching upward. Yeohwi stared blankly at the watch, turning his wrist this way and that.
Dowon, who was sitting opposite him taking off his jacket, saw that and let out a hollow laugh as if it were absurd.
“You’re dying of happiness.”
Dowon rolled up his shirt sleeves and brought his hand to the buckle of the watch on his wrist. He looked ready to take it off immediately as if it were cumbersome.
“Ah!”
Yeohwi was startled and covered Dowon’s hand to stop him.
“Don’t take it off. You have to keep it on.”
“We’re inside a private jet. There are no eyes watching, so there’s no reason to keep it on.”
He hated being stifled. Dowon frowned and tried to pull Yeohwi’s hand away.
But Yeohwi did not let go. Instead, he gripped it more firmly and presented a reasonably valid logic.
“Mister Dowon, think about it.”
Yeohwi said with a mock-serious expression.
“We don’t even have common wedding rings. Like this, we’ll arouse suspicion.”
“…”
“Or, would it have been better to get matching rings?”
Dowon’s hand stopped.
Wedding rings.
Dowon frowned deeply at the strange weight and sense of restraint that word carried. Eventually, he took his hand off the watch buckle. It was better for his wrist to feel a bit heavy than to deal with that.
Dowon, picking up a champagne glass, replied indifferently.
“Fine, I’ll keep it on. If you’re going to be that stubborn.”
Every time his hand moved, the light of the white gold shimmered subtly. Yeohwi gazed at the watch wrapped around Dowon’s wrist. His heart felt ticklish and happy for no reason.
Even though he knew this was an act to deceive Do Jingyu…
Even though, in the first place, this marriage life itself was nothing more than a time-limited contract…
‘I don’t know.’
Yeohwi swallowed his contradictory emotions and looked out the window.
He just liked it for now. The fact that he was wearing the same watch as Dowon, breathing in the same space, and leaving for somewhere together. He liked being with Dowon enough that it didn’t matter if it was fake. That’s why his heart felt strange.
It was just then, as his throat grew hot and he was about to get a little depressed.
Rumble.
With a sudden roar, the aircraft shook violently. It was turbulence.
“Ack!”
Yeohwi reflexively reached out.
However, what he grabbed tightly was not the cold armrest of the sofa. It was the hand of Dowon, who was sitting opposite him.
Yeohwi’s hot, large hand overlapped with Dowon’s cool back of the hand.
Coming to his senses late, Yeohwi was startled and pulled his hand away.
“Ah… I-it was a mistake!”
Yeohwi hurriedly brought his hands over his knees and clenched his fists. His face felt hot.
“I didn’t do that on purpose.”
“…”
“Really, I wasn’t trying to pull a stunt… your hand was just there, so I did it without thinking, that’s…”
“…Be quiet. It’s just a change in current. It’ll pass soon.”
A low, calm voice cut through the shaking cabin. Dowon looked at the completely shrunken Yeohwi while holding his champagne glass.
“And, no matter how many stunts you pull, I’m not falling for them. Don’t go being conscious for no reason over something like this.”
“Ah, of course, you’re right…”
Yeohwi looked out the window, pretending to be unbothered. However, his fingertips gripping the armrest were subtly strained. The blood gradually drained from his palms under the pressure.
