“Then let me warn you too.”

Her voice trembled—not with fear, but fury.

“If you’re a coward who’s afraid of my father and the difference between us, then leave now. And never appear before me again.”

At that moment, Ethan finally moved.

The three steps separating him from Eve weren’t crossed so much as devoured.

Just like in all the fantasies he’d buried for years, he crushed her into his arms as though he wanted to break her apart and kissed her as though he wanted to consume her whole.

But reality burned hotter than any dream.

No matter how desperately he stole that unbearably sweet mouth, his hunger for this woman only deepened.

He sucked gently at her full lower lip, bit it lightly—yet instead of satisfaction, it only made him want more.

Enough to drive him insane.

At this rate, he might truly lose control tonight.

This is only the first time. Not the last.

Stop here for now.

Reason warned him so—

But something rebellious suddenly ignited inside him.

I’m so tired of holding back.

Desire, which had spent years chained down, finally burst free like an untamed stallion and lunged straight for Eve.

Until now, Ethan had only teased her by brushing against the inside of her lips.

This time, he pushed deeper.

His tongue slid past her teeth.

Eve shivered in surprise—

Then immediately parted her lips wider, as though silently begging him to take even more.

Ethan stared directly into those defiant eyes.

Any thought of being gentle with a woman experiencing her first kiss vanished instantly.

Because those eyes burned hotter than fire itself.

The tongue that had teased him earlier through cigarette smoke now wrapped around his own.

A violent shiver ran down his spine.

Through the slender throat trapped in his hand, Ethan could feel the goosebumps racing across her skin.

Warm breaths tangled.

Saliva mixed.

Their mouths moved against each other with an intimacy so obscene it felt almost like their naked bodies were already entwined together.

I want to see Eve naked.

I want to tear into her softness with my own body.

I want to become her first—and last—man.

I want to hear this noble lady moan beneath someone as lowly as me until she breaks apart from pleasure only I can give her.

I want every hidden, vulnerable part of her.

He had been born a vulgar beast.

The mask of the refined intellectual shattered after a single kiss.

Already holding her tightly against him, Ethan pulled her even closer.

Her chest flattened against his body.

The pressure was dizzying.

Painful.

And from that moment onward, his hands could no longer remain still.

“Mmh…”

The well-bred young lady let out a soft sound directly against his mouth.

Instead of calming him, it only drove him wilder.

Eve instinctively retreated a step.

Running already?

No.

Ethan Fairchild was not a man who let go once he’d finally seized what he wanted.

He dragged her back against him immediately, as though escape itself were unacceptable, and tightened his grip around her trembling body.

Their lips parted with a wet sound.

“Hah… control your strength,” Eve whispered breathlessly.

“Sorry.” His voice came rough and low. “I’ve been holding back too long.”

Too long?

Since when have you loved me?

But there was no time to ask.

Ethan gripped the back of her neck and kissed her again.

She hadn’t lied about this being her first kiss.

At first he’d simply overwhelmed her through sheer force, but he quickly learned the rhythm of her mouth, the way she responded, the places that made her tremble.

What he never learned, however, was restraint.

Obsession blazed openly in his eyes.

He looked like a starving animal that could see nothing except Eve.

Suddenly, an image flashed through her mind—

This man naked above her, moving with that same wild intensity.

A violent shudder swept across her skin.

I want to see that.

I want to feel it.

What if we walked into some hotel room right now and never came out until dawn?

I want this man to paint every inch of my body in his colors.

If tomorrow didn’t exist, she might truly have surrendered to that impulse.

But recklessness now could destroy everything.

If her father discovered them, their carefully planned escape—and the future they dreamed of together—could vanish instantly.

On the ride home, Eve finally leaned against Ethan’s broad back without hesitation.

I fell in love with Ethan?

Nonsense.

A feeling this intense can’t possibly be something so simple.

“Miss, have you ever actually been in love before?”

Yes.

Right now.

They parted in a secluded corner of the estate garden.

Ethan needed to leave before anyone noticed him there.

Yet even after Eve disappeared safely into the mansion, he couldn’t move.

It felt as though the moment he did, he’d wake from this impossible dream.

Left alone, he replayed the night over and over—still unaware that it had already become the turning point of his entire life.

“May I borrow you for this evening?”

So that was how Princess Kentrell invited a man on a date.

It had been such arrogantly confident courtship that even most men would never dare attempt it.

And yet instead of wounding his pride, it made him stand taller.

The princess herself desires someone as insignificant as me.

The law might claim all people were equal—

But outside legal texts, reality was different.

Lady Evelyn and Ethan Fairchild were separated by a gap as vast as that between human and animal.

Love between different species.

A grotesque taboo.

The nursemaid’s son.

Her childhood playmate.

He’d always believed Eve viewed him as nothing more than another servant passing briefly through her life.

But she saw him as a man.

While princes, aristocrats, and heirs from noble families sneered at Ethan like he was filth—even as they crawled desperately for the chance to marry Lady Evelyn—

That proud young woman had chosen him instead.

It felt as though he’d humiliated every one of those gilded bastards.

Of course, the reason Ethan rode his motorcycle down the dark country road feeling as though he’d ascended into heaven was much simpler than pride.

His hopeless first love had finally become mutual.

“For me, this love isn’t easy either.”

Love.

She said she loved me.

His chest rose sharply with every breath.

But why?

Why had she suddenly begun seeing him as a man?

What had he done to make such a demanding woman fall for him?

He genuinely couldn’t understand.

Maybe it was the same reason other women flirted with him.

The problem was—

Ethan could never think of Eve as merely “another woman.”

Maybe Harry actually shot me earlier, and I’m lying in a coma somewhere dreaming all this.

…Honestly, that explanation felt the most believable.

He didn’t know yet that even if this dream eventually shattered, he would never be able to return unchanged to the life he’d lived before.
