Pheromone Off Chapter 18
At the appearance of turning around without replying, as if he was used to Kwon Sabin’s behavior, Kwon Sabin shouted, ‘Hey—! Won’t you stop right there?!’ but Seong Hajin didn’t even budge. Who does he think he is to be that lofty. If someone pretends to know him, he can just say thank you and bow. In his situation. In his position. He should know how to be grateful.
Kwon Sabin, who was panting fully, glared at the cold back and twitched the bridge of his nose. It must have been from then. That Kwon Sabin hardened his resolve to torment him fully. Having burned especially with the childishness of young days.
Whether then or now, Seong Hajin was the same. Turning around like that in front of him was a daily routine for Seong Hajin. While not being able to say a word in front of Kwon Sayoung, he acted that coldly in front of him.
At the reminiscence of past days, Kwon Sabin glared at Seong Hajin, who sat on the opposite side, with a face that was a layer more poisoned. Not liking him anyway, the sight of Seong Hajin alone feeling disparate at the table where the Kwon family sat around, of course, and occupying the seat next to Kwon Sayoung as a matter of course was more disliked to look at, making him work up a fever needlessly. Kwon Sabin huffed and puffed needlessly and downed cold water roughly.
“Right. How is the place to stay, child.”
Chairman Kwon, who was having his meal sitting in the seat of honor, opened the subject with an especially pleased face. Hajin seemed to be somewhat flustered by the new title, but soon answered while smiling awkwardly.
“…It’s pretty. Thank you.”
As he gave a polite nod of the head and expressed gratitude, Chairman Kwon smiled benevolently.
“If there’s anything more needed, speak up right away. Even if by any chance someone acts uncomfortably, tell this grandfather right away.”
It was a word that gave a warning to both the servants who were standing in a line near the dining room and all the family members who were having a meal together. While being thankful for such consideration, Hajin was not comfortable. The feeling of receiving favoritism from the highest person here was unfamiliar.
“Yes. Thank you for your consideration.”
“Consideration for what. You too, Sayoung. Since you’ve newly brought in a spouse now, conduct yourself straight.”
Kwon Sayoung, who had been eating silently, glanced toward Hajin at the word spouse and let out a hollow laugh soundlessly. And then he handed over words that were contrasting with the hollow laugh gentlemanly.
“Since I am growing attached, you have nothing to worry about.”
Chairman Kwon’s suspicious gaze landed, but Kwon Sayoung shot back skillfully. But whether he still couldn’t believe it, Chairman Kwon asked repeatedly.
“Have you sorted things out properly with the Seong family’s second child?”
His hand which was moving the tableware flinched for a moment, but soon carried on the act as if nothing had happened.
“I will take care of that matter on my own.”
“By any chance, don’t think of making the child suffer in mind due to that second child’s matter.”
Hajin, who was sitting close by, could feel a breath where a layer of annoyance was felt. It was understandable. More than enough to make one forced to part with a counterpart they were dating well, since he was interfering one by one, it was understandable that he would get annoyed.
“Sayoung will take care of it on his own, Grandfather. Don’t worry.”
The one who cut into the atmosphere that was subtly going distorted was Kwon Sahui, who sat on the right side of Chairman Kwon. Kwon Sahui was the eldest daughter of the Kwon family and a female Alpha. And she was a person whose Alpha pheromones were the most powerful among the Kwon family’s three siblings and whose maturity was tremendous. Her height was also similar to Kwon Sayoung and Kwon Sabin, and she was the most senior among them, with a 15-year difference from Hajin. Perhaps because of that, she was a presence that Hajin found especially more difficult. To Hajin, she was no different from elders who were difficult to deal with, and she was a presence that felt a little more distance and large to be among siblings.
Kwon Sahui’s height easily exceeded 180, and unlike women who possessed delicate frames, her frame was as firm and thickset as existing male Alphas. Since she was a woman who even learned jiu-jitsu separately as an exercise, the muscles hidden inside her suit were to the extent of being a threat sometimes. Even so, she was not an appearance where lines were thick like a tomboy. An authoritative and deep beauty was a person as impressive as Kwon Sayoung. Was that all. Her business capability was recognized early on, making her the grandchild Chairman Kwon doted on the most as a successor. At the same time, she was also the grandchild who caused the most trouble.
“Are you truly not intending to marry, you rascal?”
Chairman Kwon narrowed his eyes and chided the counterpart.
“I told you. You’re doing that again.”
Kwon Sahui shot back shamelessly and picked the croaker flesh, placing it on top of Chairman Kwon’s rice bowl.
“This thing again like a sly old fox—. Even when the second child, who is far younger, marries, you have no thoughts?”
“Oh dear, today, just as Grandfather said, the child has entered too, so let’s only say good words.”
As if she was a master at dealing with aged elders, she turned the subject skillfully.
“Congratulations, Kwon Sayoung. Hajin too, let’s get along well from now on.”
Kwon Sahui tossed words refreshingly. Hajin smiled awkwardly and bowed politely to greet, and while greeting, subtly checked Kwon Sayoung’s countenance. Because he knew Kwon Sayoung acted especially sensitively toward his noona, he thought he wouldn’t regard this situation gladly. On top of that, even more so after learning that the reason called Kwon Sahui was also cut into the reasons for forcing this marriage.
“By the way.”
Kwon Sayoung carried on his words without any particular reply.
“Has the date for my inauguration ceremony been decided?”
At that question, Kwon Sahui let out a light laugh. She seemed to have a manner of knowing what kind of meaning was contained in that question. It was tossing indirectly to Kwon Sahui that the decided successor place was now broken. A manner of attitude saying let’s watch how long she can act naively seemed to be quite funny to Kwon Sahui.
“Do you think making a director’s position a vacancy suddenly is anywhere an easy matter.”
“It wasn’t that easy for me either.”
At his words where bones existed, Hajin stopped even the meal he was barely picking at. A meal place where everyone gathered, whether here or there, was indeed not easy.
“I will let you know through a secretary. It won’t be long.”
“I understand.”
With that answer as the end, Chairman Kwon raised his body. Then, two employees who were waiting approached quickly and supported him. Chairman Kwon entrusted his body as if he was used to the matter of being supported, and cast his gaze toward Hajin, who was sitting blankly.
“Child.”
“…Ye, Yes?”
Because the new title was unfamiliar, Hajin answered a little belatedly.
“Let’s see each other for a moment.”
Along with those words, Chairman Kwon was handed a cane by the staff and moved his uncomfortable steps. The steps seemed uncomfortable, but he looked hale and hearty still. Unlike the words saying there was not much living days left. Hajin subtly raised his body from among the family members who were still in the middle of their meal. However, the moment he was about to stand up, Kwon Sayoung gripped Hajin’s hand. Looking at him with eyes surprised at the sudden warmth, he cast an implicit gaze and whispered in a low voice.
“You know, right?”
It was a word where all introductions were missing, but Hajin could sufficiently know. It meant to do well in front of Grandfather. To act properly, the act they decided to do. Understanding that it was a wordless pressure, Hajin shot back resolutely.
“…I know well.”

A place facing each other alone. On top of the table placed between Chairman Kwon and Hajin, simple refreshments and porcelain cups were occupying positions on both sides. From the tea contained in the cups, warm water vapor was rising up. Hajin sat awkwardly and only looked around the grand room inside. On one wall of a huge room where about three large sliding doors were unfolded, a tremendous folding screen was positioned, and art pieces of craftsmen reaching into billions here and there were being used as interior accessories.
For a few minutes, in the moment he was sitting dazed with his knees bent, from between the front doors that the staff flung open, Chairman Kwon, who had been taking care of business for a moment, appeared. Hajin jumped up and helped his movement. Chairman Kwon said it was fine and made a gesture with his hand to sit again.
“Even if they say it’s a honeymoon, there is time to have a cup of tea with this grandfather, right?”
Unlike the meal place, Chairman Kwon addressed words in a layer more friendly manner. It was an appearance visible only when he was alone with Hajin normally.
“…We haven’t even had a wedding yet, what do you mean honeymoon.”
“Only the ceremony hasn’t been held, since you live together now, what is different, you thing.”
Chairman Kwon laughed uproariously, sat on the opposite side, and lifted his tea.
“Have a cup.”
“Yes.”
Following him, Hajin gripped the cup and quietly brought his mouth to the warm warmth touching his hand.
“I know all that it will be uncomfortable.”
Chairman Kwon, who took a sip of tea, nodded his head and opened speech suddenly.
“You must hate me too.”
“…You did force it too much.”
As Hajin answered in a low voice, Chairman Kwon let out a hearty laugh.
“Even if you resent this grandfather, I don’t regret it.”
“…”
“Just the fact that you came out of that damn house corner makes my inside feel refreshed.”
As if those words were sincere, Chairman Kwon had a face that looked as if he really had relieved a single worry. Putting that appearance into his eyes, Hajin quietly drew a smile.
“…Thank you.”
Whatever reason there was, and whatever inner story there was, the one who gave such a worry was only the Chairman Kwon in front of his eyes, Grandfather.
“…Thank you for what.”
“…”
“Just live well.”
Chairman Kwon lowered his cup and carried on words benevolently. Hajin quietly faced the counterpart.
“Is that really enough?”
As Chairman Kwon raised his eyebrows inquisitively at the sudden question, Hajin opened his mouth fully.
“Is seeing my appearance of living well enough?”
“…Of course, you rascal.”
“…”
“That rascal Sayoung has a heartless corner, but he’s a fellow who does the duties he has to do.”
“…”
“Even if he doesn’t act dearly, there is no fellow to that extent to live together from now on. Even if there is an aspect where he acts a bit like a terrible fellow, still, wasn’t he the fellow you held in your mind.”
“…”
“By any chance if he makes your mind rot, tell this grandfather right away. This grandfather will give him a firm piece of his mind.”
