Van’s somber gaze fell upon Rowy’s pale cheeks—cheeks that had always been stained with tears at night.

If he left, would he be left to cry alone again? That seemed unbearable… Van closed his eyes, overwhelmed by a surging grief. And then, at that very moment, Rowy’s hand twitched. Van looked at him in shock.

“Master?”

With a slight flutter of his eyelashes, Rowy opened his eyes. His jewel-like blue eyes were such a welcome sight that Van couldn’t help but pull him into a tight embrace.

“Ugh… Van?”

“I was so worried; I thought you wouldn’t wake up.”

“Ugh, my head hurts.”

“Are you all right? Should I call the healer?”

“No… what happened?”

“The demon has been extinguished. But then you suddenly collapsed…”

“Are you okay?”

“Worry about yourself. You’ve been unconscious for an entire day.”

At those words, Rowy, still held in Van’s arms, blinked. Come to think of it, where was he…?

“We’re at Finn’s house. I know it would have been better for you to be treated in a more comfortable environment… I apologize.”

“Hmm? No, it’s fine.”

If he had gone to Seren while passed out, it would have been a total disaster. Then again, Van didn’t even know Rowy’s family name was Irad yet. When you think about it, they were strangers who knew nothing about each other… yet, seeing Van the moment he opened his eyes gave him such peace. Why?

“…”

Rowy carefully studied Van’s face, which was full of worry. He said it had been a day since he lost consciousness; perhaps because of the mental toll, his face looked haggard. Looking into Van’s bloodshot eyes, Rowy opened his mouth.

“I’m fine. I think I passed out as my memories were returning.”

The last thing he remembered before collapsing was the splitting headache as so many things came flooding back at once.

“My memories are still fragmented, though…”

Still, more had returned than he expected… Rowy traced back his thoughts. Right, even up until the first time he met Van, he had clearly known there was a demon on the island. And even that something was wrong.

So, he must have thought that if he were to go to the island with a slave, he should at least take a strong one. Like, say, a combat slave… Of course, the one Rowy bought just happened to be a former holy knight who had been sold off. …But was this really just a coincidence? Rowy, lost in thought for a moment, spoke impulsively.

“Still… I really think God might exist.”

“Pardon?”

Van expressed doubt at Rowy’s sudden remark. And what Rowy said next was…

“I think God sent you to me. I just had that thought.”

Well, maybe not. Or maybe not. Rowy replied offhandedly. However, Van seemed deeply moved by those words. Van gently stroked Rowy’s cheek.

“…Do you really think so?”

…Van’s voice as he said that sounded strangely choked up, and Rowy tilted his head.

“Did you get any sleep?”

“…Master, you were the one who collapsed.”

“Come here. Let’s get some sleep together.”

It was still night outside. Rowy scooted over. The bed was small, hardly meant for two grown men, but they pressed against each other, pretending not to notice.

“Haa…”

Van, having been on edge all day, let out a sigh and hugged Rowy tightly. Rowy didn’t want to be outdone and burrowed into his chest. Wriggling and squirming, Rowy kept digging in, his fine silver hair rubbing against Van’s neck. Van chuckled at the ticklish sensation. At that laughter, Rowy snapped his head up. Since they were lying pressed close together, their faces were inches apart.

“Why are you laughing?”

“Just because, I’m happy.”

“Why?”

Instead of an answer, Van’s lips approached. With a cute mwah sound, his lips touched Rowy’s forehead and pulled away. Rowy glared at him for the impertinent act. He’d let him get away with touching him everywhere, but… he didn’t know when to draw the line.

“What is it?”

“I was so worried… is this not allowed?”

He kisses him without permission and then makes a sad face as if he’s the one who was wronged. Seeing him acting so pathetic, Rowy scoffed. Usually, he would have kicked him out immediately, but… he felt sorry that his face had suffered from worrying about him. …Hmm.

“…Well, go ahead.”

…Van’s eyes went wide at the unexpected words.

“Pardon?”

“…”

“…Re-really?”

“If you don’t want to, forget it.”

As if he wouldn’t want to. Swallowing hard, Van quickly grabbed Rowy’s chin. He was worried he might change his mind and say no again. But Rowy just closed his eyes quietly, despite the rude touch. Unable to hold back any longer, Van clumsily smashed his lips onto his.

“Ugh!”

Startled by the rough movement, Rowy tried to push Van away, but soon his strength drained at the sensation of their hot, soft flesh grinding together.

Squelch…

Their mouths were stirred together in a frenzy. He got goosebumps from the feeling of their hot, wet flesh rubbing against each other. The raw, moist sounds echoed incessantly in his ears.

‘He says he’s a holy knight, why is he so lascivious…’

It was a kiss so sloppy it made his waist tingle. Rowy unknowingly wrapped his arms around Van’s neck and clung to him eagerly.

“Mmm…”

“Haa… Rowy, Master…”

And that passionate kiss, which had started so suddenly, came to an end…

“…Are you hard right now? Hey! Get away!”

It ended with Rowy’s horrified shout.

“Did you sleep well? You weren’t uncomfortable because it was too small, were you?”

“Mm-hmm.”

“…Brother, did something happen?”

Finn approached Rowy and whispered.

“I don’t know. Give me some apple pie.”

“Yes, sir.”

At Rowy’s words, Finn quickly brought him an apple pie. Beside him, Van snatched the pie, pouting, and started cutting it for him instead.

“Hmph.”

Of course, Rowy scoffed at Van. It was ridiculous how clearly he was pouting over what happened yesterday. It was even more hypocritical considering he had been showering him with kisses all morning with that exact same expression.

While the two exchanged silent messages, Finn brought out more food. He said it was made by his sisters. He had wondered who he took after to be such a good cook, and it seemed it was his sisters.

Finn’s sisters were unusually terrified of Rowy, so Rowy hadn’t even caught a glimpse of their faces. He suspected that the sisters were the ones who had instructed Finn not to talk to Rowy. Of course, the sociable Finn acted as if he had never avoided Rowy at all, chatting away about this and that.

“The butler’s leg is broken, so he’ll have trouble moving for a while. He said he’ll be fine after resting for a month or two.”

The one who had been injured the most in the demon incident was the butler. His leg had been swollen in an alarming way, and it seemed he had indeed been diagnosed with a fracture. Rowy nodded.

“He needs to rest well. You know how bones don’t heal well when you get old.”

“It seems he won’t be able to go to the castle for a while, what should we do?”

“Hmm? It doesn’t matter.”

“Pardon?”

Finn questioned Rowy’s response. But it really didn’t matter if the butler was there or not. Either way, they weren’t going back to the castle. Still looking sullen, Van, who had cut up all the apple pie and pushed it toward Rowy, spoke up instead.

“We won’t be returning to our castle for the time being.”

“Pardon? Then where will you go?”

“We are going to Marzen.”

To be precise, they were planning to go to the Elysion Temple in Marzen. It was to break the curse that still remained on Rowy.

They left quickly. This was because Van wanted to take Rowy and leave as soon as possible. Finn looked disappointed, saying it had only been breakfast since Rowy woke up and they were already leaving. But since they were leaving for Rowy’s treatment, there was nothing he could do.

At Van’s urging, the captain prepared the ship in no time. And so, before it was even noon, preparations for departure were finished. Just as the two were about to leave the island, unexpectedly, a crowd of people gathered at the harbor. Finn’s sisters, his twin brothers, and even the butler, leaning on a cane, were all at the harbor. Rowy looked at them one by one.

‘I’ve been here for two years and barely exchanged a few words with them…’

And yet, everyone was waving at Rowy.

“Master, you should wave back.”

Van said, waving from beside him. Rowy looked at Van for a moment before giving a small wave.

“Take care! We’ll keep the castle safe!”

Finn’s voice rang out clearly all the way to the ship. Hearing that, Rowy waved his hand a little more vigorously.

“Now, you might get a fever again, so it would be best to go inside. Come here. Oh, just hold my hand. Don’t touch my body.”

…Led by the hand of the still-pouting Van, Rowy looked back repeatedly.
