Only Obedient to Me! Sir Knight Chapter 47
“Since the Irad family is coming to pick you up at the border of Marzen, you can just go there. You don’t need a send-off, right?”
“Goodbye.”
“Let’s meet again!”
One day before departure, Seilan left with a casual farewell. Rowy sent him off with a simple nod. He knew now that even if they parted ways, they could easily meet again.
However… the parting with the people of the temple was different. The children had been wailing ever since they heard Van was leaving. For a while, Van had to carry those children with him, one in the front and one in the back. Even at this moment of departure, the children were still sobbing bitterly.
‘…I really, truly hate children.’
Rowy shook his head in frustration. Seeing this, the High Priest spoke with a smile.
“The children are just sad to see you go. Even I feel quite sorrowful hearing that you are leaving so suddenly.”
“I wasn’t planning on staying long in the first place.”
“I know. But since a bond was formed, it is only natural to feel regret.”
At the genuinely sorrowful tone, Rowy blinked. Honestly, he felt like all he had done since coming here was cause trouble. It was a rare moment of objective self-evaluation for Rowy.
“Well, take care.”
Rowy offered a generous parting greeting. The High Priest chuckled and pointed to Priest Liner standing in the back.
“Ah, Priest Liner also says he has something to tell you.”
At those words, Rowy turned his head, and Priest Liner bowed his head respectfully. Rowy greeted him as well.
“Goodbye. Take care. Thank you for teaching me the holy language. It was a big help.”
Priest Liner bowed once more at Rowy’s greeting and handed him an envelope he had been holding.
“What’s this…? You want me to open it?”
At Priest Liner’s gesture, Rowy opened the envelope. Inside was… a talisman, the kind Priest Liner was always drawing. Rowy read the holy language, which had become familiar to him by now. This talisman, inscribed with a simple word….
‘Tranquility.’
…It was a talisman wishing for Rowy’s peace of mind.
‘It will help you have good dreams.’
Having read the small text written inside the envelope, Rowy looked at Priest Liner with eyes touched by the unexpected gift.
“Thank you. I’ll treasure it.”
The High Priest, who had been watching the exchange between Rowy and Priest Liner with a satisfied expression, approached Van.
“High Priest.”
Upon seeing the High Priest, Van bowed deeply and kissed the back of his hand. The High Priest affectionately stroked Van’s hair.
“I do not care if you leave the temple; I only wish for you to be happy.”
“…Yes.”
Van’s expression darkened. To hear such words from the very person he had abandoned and left behind first, he felt an emotion closer to guilt above all else. As if he understood everything, the High Priest patted Van’s shoulder.
“You are still walking the path of God. Do not doubt, and move forward.”
“…”
“And… there are other people who have come to bid you farewell.”
Van lifted his head at those words and his eyes widened as he spotted the people approaching.
“Captain.”
“It’s been a while.”
Shane and Turner, who had lost their memories due to a demon’s curse, were greeting Van with warmth.
“We heard the news that you had returned to the temple quite a while ago, but it happened to be when we were very busy with a request from the guild.”
“We wanted to see you before you left, so we ran here without even taking a break.”
“How….”
Van’s eyes blurred at the voices of those he had missed. The last time he had seen them, their eyes had held no emotion. But now….
“You are truly too much. How can you not send even one message? From now on, at least send us a letter.”
“That’s right. There are so many people in the temple waiting for you, Captain.”
Their grumbling voices were affectionate. Speechless, Van simply listened to them. And just then, Max appeared from behind them, limping.
“Whew, I wasn’t late. Why are you leaving so early?”
Grumbling, Max approached and hugged Van with all his might. While stroking Max’s hair, Van still couldn’t take his eyes off Shane and Turner. His brothers… they were looking at him with the same warm eyes as before. Just like that day in their childhood.
“How…? By any chance, the curse….”
“Ah, that’s not it, though.”
Van asked cautiously, filled with hope. However, the answer he received was a denial. And what followed was… something Van had never imagined.
“We heard stories of the Captain until our ears ached.”
“Max, Neal, and the priests—everyone spoke of you, Captain.”
“At this point, I’ve practically memorized them. Is it true that when I was young, I fell while climbing a tree and you caught me with your body? They said the scar on my arm came from that time.”
Shane said this while rolling up his sleeve. There was the scar, the one Van knew so well. It was just as Shane said. Having seen Shane falling, Van had rushed over and caught him with his whole body. But… Van had been young then, too.
‘In the end, we both went to the High Priest, crying our eyes out, covered in blood.’
Recalling that moment, Van smiled faintly.
“…You were a troublemaker since you were young. You only pretended to be dignified after you grew up.”
“See! I was right, wasn’t I? I was very young, but I remembered everything!”
Max interrupted, chattering away. Turner joined in on the trip down memory lane.
“Then is it true that I was so scared I couldn’t sleep alone at night and kept coming to find you even after I turned sixteen?”
“Yes. Whether it rained or the wind blew, you came to find me because you were scared.”
“This is… less like it’s unbelievable, and more like… I don’t want to believe it.”
Turner, the most muscular man in the temple, shook his head. It was so comical that Max and Van eventually burst into laughter. Watching them and smiling along, Shane spoke to Van in a gentle voice.
“Captain. Brother Deor. You know now, don’t you? Just because we lost our memories, it doesn’t mean the memories between us have truly disappeared. After all, there are so many people here who remember them for me.”
“Ah….”
The moment he faced Shane’s uniquely earnest gaze—the one so familiar to Van—Van finally bowed his head and let his tears fall.

Van could not stop his tears until Rowy, who had come running at the sound of Van crying, hid Van behind his back while keeping a wary eye on everyone. Van, having belatedly composed himself, hastily wiped his eyes, but since it was obvious to everyone that he had been bawling, Rowy’s eyes grew even sharper.
“Who made you cry? Was it you?”
Rowy approached Turner, who was twice—no, three times—his size, and started pointing his finger at him without hesitation. Thinking he was the culprit because he was the biggest of the bunch, Rowy did this, even though Turner simply smiled gently and greeted him back.
However, Rowy continued to glare at everyone with sharp eyes. At that adorable display of protection, a smile slowly began to spread across Van’s face. The High Priest, watching them from the side, chuckled and joined the conversation.
“And in the event that your family tries to force you into an arranged marriage, do not worry and just say the word. I will have them excommunicated immediately.”
…? What is this about all of a sudden? Rowy’s eyes, which had been sharply guarding the perimeter, went wide with bewilderment.
“Please make sure to invite us to the wedding!”
“Of course.”
And just like that, regardless of Rowy’s opinion, their marriage was confirmed once again.
“Now, it is truly time to part. I assume everyone has finished their farewells?”
The High Priest gathered everyone who was scattered about. It was time to finally let the two go.
“Come now, let us send them off with smiles.”
At those words, Neal and the children, who had been sniffing repeatedly, wiped their tears and nodded. They looked brave. Certainly… much braver than Turner had been in his childhood. Van wore a smile on his lips again and bid everyone farewell.
“Then, we will be going. I will write letters, so please do not worry.”
“Goodbye.”
Waving gently, Rowy waved his hand alongside Van. The two began to leave the temple and descend the mountain path. The High Priest watched their retreating figures with satisfied eyes. Priest Alex, who was standing next to him, also wore a smile on his lips.
“They are truly a beautiful couple.”
“Aren’t they? I should write a magnificent wedding speech.”
Exchanging lighthearted words, the High Priest and Priest Alex turned slowly toward the temple. And then, as if they hadn’t been smiling at all, their faces hardened.
“Now then, since we have sent them off… let us first find that impersonator who claimed to have handed over The Holy Sword.”
“Yes.”
And so…. To hunt the demons that had surfaced once again, the Elysion Temple began to move.
