Non-Resistance Chapter 25
The soft skin touching his fingertips and the scent of soap from his neck suited Yeongin well.
“Heu-ut, don’t… Why, again…”
Yeongin tried to push the man’s arms away as if fed up with Dogeon, who acted as if he were in heat at all hours, but Dogeon only pressed his body closer.
His hand, moving along his belly like sweeping across piano keys, reached its destination: his plump, swollen chest. Just as Dogeon was pinching his nipple between his fingers and rubbing his sex organ between Yeongin’s buttocks, feeling Yeongin catch his breath—
Rrr…
“Ah…! Wa, wait a moment….”
The ringtone he had set specifically for calls from Yeongwoo’s hospital rang out. Stiffening, he pushed Dogeon away firmly.
Yoonji Hospital
When he checked his phone, a call was coming in from the hospital. There was only one reason for a call at this late hour. From the moment the call came in, Yeongin’s face, already terrified, turned deathly pale. Dogeon, who had taken the phone from his trembling hands while the vibration continued, answered the call on Yeongin’s behalf.
— Hello. This is Yoonji Hospital. Are you the guardian of patient Ha Yeongwoo? Could you come to the hospital right away?
The nurse’s voice on the other end sounded urgent. Yeongin, his heart clenching even tighter at that tone, parted his heavy lips and asked.
“I’m coming. I’m coming, nurse! But what happened to our Yeongwoo?”
— Yeongwoo’s condition is very poor right now, so it looks like we need to take him in for emergency surgery. We need the guardian’s consent; we’d like to get verbal consent over the phone first, and then you’ll need to come to the hospital to sign the consent form.
“Yes? Surgery, all of a sudden…. No, what exactly is Yeongwoo’s condition?”
His head was spinning. He felt like his vision was going dark, not knowing how the situation was unfolding. Tears quickly blurred his pale, brownish eyes. Yeongin opened his mouth with a trembling voice, clutching the phone with both hands and pleading.
“Nurse, I give my consent. So, please, please save our Yeongwoo. Please, I beg you…. I’m begging you like this.”
Dogeon’s gaze grew subtle as he watched Yeongin, who had started to cry, letting out kkeu-euk, kkeuk sounds because he couldn’t breathe properly. After the call ended, the man grabbed the shoulders of the boy who couldn’t control his unstable breathing and said.
“Ha Yeongin, breathe properly.”
“Heu-euk, Dogeon, what do I do about our, kkeu-euk, Yeongwoo, ah, heuk, ugh….”
His heart ached. He didn’t know how he would go on living if he even lost his only younger sibling. The back of Yeongin’s hand, clutching at his chest, turned bright red.
“Let’s go.”
“Heu-euk, u…?”
The man, who had pulled out his car keys, said to Yeongin, who was looking up at him with red-rimmed eyes.
“You have to go to the hospital, don’t you? Aren’t you going to see your brother?”
“I, I will. Heuk, I’ll go to the hospital to see Yeongwoo…”
Dogeon grabbed Yeongin’s hand as he took staggering steps, led him out the front door, sat him in the passenger seat, and drove rapidly. Vroom—when they entered a narrow alleyway, the cars that had been blocking the way moved aside, sensing the fierce exhaust sound of the sports car.
After driving down the road and arriving in front of Yoonji University Hospital, Dogeon took Yeongin inside the building. While they were heading to the pediatric ward, several people seemed to recognize Dogeon and tried to acknowledge him, but he answered with a cold glare and continued walking with Yeongin, who was still trembling.
“Nurse……!”
Recognizing someone, Yeongin hurried toward the doctor. The man, having recognized Yeongin as Yeongwoo’s guardian, opened his lips to explain in detail the current state of the child who was undergoing surgery, along with his chart.
“Fortunately, it was caught early and he went into emergency surgery well, so you don’t have to worry too much.”
“Thank you. Thank you so much, doctor.”
Dogeon’s eyes stared fixedly at the back of Yeongin’s hand, which was holding the male doctor’s hand while he bowed repeatedly.
“So when does the surgery end.”
Dogeon, who had pulled on Yeongin’s arm, asked while staring at the male doctor with a crooked expression. Yeongin, on the contrary, looked surprised by the man’s words, as his tone had become curt, just as it was when he spoke to him.
“I asked when it ends.”
“We are estimating the surgery time to be about four hours. If you wait in the guardian’s waiting room, we will let you know when the surgery is over.”
Yeongin bowed his head with an apologetic look on behalf of Dogeon and bid farewell to the doctor. Once he disappeared, Yeongin turned his body and glared at the man.
“How could you talk to the doctor like that……!”
“Do I have to talk differently just because he’s a doctor?”
Dogeon, who leaned his face against Yeongin’s shoulder, added in a whisper to his ear.
“Would you like me to do that, teacher Ha Yeongin?”
His ears felt like they would be burned by the hot breath. Yeongin, who came to his senses after biting the inside of his cheek, pushed Dogeon away and opened his lips.
“Anyway, thank you for bringing me. I’m going to go ahead because of my brother.”
“Yeongin.”
Dogeon, who had pulled out his wallet, took out a black card and handed it to him. The man said to Yeongin, who was looking up at him with a dazed face.
“Use this to pay for the surgery costs.”
“No, I…”
“Do you have the luxury of worrying about pride right now?”
“…”
Dogeon, who had forced the card into the hand of Yeongin, whose mouth was shut tight, swept back the hair covering his eyebrows.
“I’ll be going overseas for a while anyway. Take good care of your brother, and if you need anything, take care of it with that. Shit, stop eating things like ramen and buy yourself some proper food.”
He wanted to ask what business it was of his, but Yeongin couldn’t get a word out for fear he would say something about his bones aching from their collisions during sex again.
“I’m going.”
In the end, Yeongin stared only at Dogeon’s retreating back as he turned and disappeared, endlessly rubbing the man’s name engraved in intaglio on the card in his hand with his fingertips.
And in this moment, he thought it was fortunate that Dogeon was by his side. If it weren’t for him, he might truly not have been able to endure it.
🍇🌊
“Young Master.”
“Ah, Chairman.”
Dogeon, who turned his body at the sound of being called, faced the Chairman of the foundation, who had come in person—perhaps having heard he was at the hospital. The man, looking clearly nervous, observed Dogeon and rolled his black eyes behind his glasses.
“If I had been injured, would I have come to the pediatric ward?”
“Ah, ahem. That’s not it, I was just worried if you were all right…”
“Forget it. Since I’ve seen your face like this, I have one favor to ask.”
“Of course. Please speak freely.”
Dogeon, who had checked the child’s name and age when Yeongin heard the explanation about his brother’s surgery a little while ago, said to the man.
“The name is Ha Yeongwoo, he is currently admitted to the pediatric ward and is 10 years old. They say he is a patient with pulmonary valve stenosis, and he is a friend’s brother. I would like you to pay some attention to him in the future.”
“Is that so. Of course. I will personally deliver the message to the head of the thoracic surgery department.”
As expected, it was comfortable because they communicated well. Dogeon nodded his head lightly at the Chairman’s attitude, which made it seem like the sound of a bell would ring if a bell were attached to his head.
“And one more thing. Let’s do some good deeds at our hospital, too.”
“Yes?”
“What are you keeping the social welfare team for? They exist to work at times like this.”
The man, rolling his eyes as if he didn’t understand, nodded his head with a look of realization and parted his lips.
“I will handle it on my end so that the social welfare team can support the treatment and living expenses for Ha Yeongwoo.”
“Good. Then I will trust you, Chairman, and be on my way.”
Dogeon, who had turned his body after finishing the short conversation with the man, boarded the black sedan parked at the main gate. Pressing his tired eyes with his fingers while leaning back in the back seat, he said to Team Leader Kim, who was sitting in front.
“Team Leader Kim. Is the task I gave you to find out about Ha Yeongin, whom I mentioned before, still not finished?”
“Actually, I just received it and was about to report it to you.”
Dogeon, who accepted the documents handed to him by Team Leader Kim, checked the contents written with everything about Yeongin, turning the papers one by one in silence. Strength entered the man’s hand as he flipped to the last page. Placing the crumpled, rustling paper down carelessly, he said with his brow furrowed.
“Shit, this is why the kid sells his body to live.”
