Non-Resistance Chapter 26

Author: nicotine

I had known it since he was wearing rags and living in a place no better than a dump, but Yeongin’s financial situation was even worse than I had thought.

The man he called his only father had saddled Ha Yeongin with all his debts and run away, and his younger brother was a patient with congenital pulmonary valve stenosis, costing quite a lot in hospital bills every month. It was enough to make me want to praise him for having endured this long.

“Try investing in Taewoo Products.”

“Are you talking about the company run by Ha Jinsu, Ha Yeongin’s biological father?”

“In any case, their biggest problem is a lack of sales capability, so if we provide funding from our side and resolve the issues with their clients, I don’t think there will be any major problems in operating it again.”

I hadn’t expected that I would go this far just because of a single sex partner. Dogeon twisted his lips into a mocking smirk, as if he himself couldn’t understand it. But even so, thinking of Ha Yeongin, who would shed tears with a face that looked like he was about to die at any moment, I didn’t want to see him in that state.

At first, there was a taste in distorting his weeping face and tormenting him, but after seeing his bright, smiling expression, I knew that was prettier. After Yeongin fell asleep, Dogeon leaned his body against the seat, rubbing his heavy shoulders after reviewing documents late into the night.

“Young Master, but if that happens, the Vice Chairman will find out about this fact…”

His parents wouldn’t remain unaware of Yeongin’s existence forever. Perhaps they were just overlooking it for now, thinking I was just playing around with him, but Dogeon found his relationship with Yeongin more satisfying than expected. He felt like he wanted to continue it for the next few years if his heart had its way.

Dogeon, thinking of Yeongin’s soft body and the expression he made when crying out ecstatically while he thrusted his sex organ into him, answered while sweeping his index finger across his lips.

“That’s why I’m going to do something pretty right now.”

“…Understood.”

Team Leader Kim, who knew that once Dogeon made a decision, there was no turning back, nodded with a face that was already tired.

Yeongwoo’s surgery ended well. I had been terrified that something major had happened when the medical staff suddenly rushed inside during the surgery, but it turned out that the most famous professor in the thoracic surgery department had personally observed it.

Furthermore, it was moved from the existing 8-person room to a 2-person room, citing hospital support. Perhaps because there was an empty room, the nurse even personally placed my bedding on the empty bed next to me.

Feeling dazed but comfortable, and with Yeongwoo’s condition improving, Yeongin managed to set aside his doubts.

“Hyung. I want to eat jajangmyeon! And tteokbokki, too!”

Six weeks had already passed since the surgery. Yeongin smiled faintly, looking at his brother, who had recovered a lot and was now in good enough condition to move around.

“If I ask the doctor and he says it’s okay, I’ll buy you both.”

“Really? You mean it?”

“Yes. So you have to eat your meal quickly and take your medicine. That’s the only way you can eat everything Yeongwoo likes.”

“Okay!”

It broke my heart to see a child at an age where he should have many things he wanted to eat and do, bearing it all and fighting against his illness. Yeongin, rubbing his plumped-up cheeks with his fingertips, stared at his phone screen while tending to his brother’s meal.

So much time had passed already, but there had been no contact from Dogeon.

‘Did he take the college entrance exam well?’

On the day of Yeongwoo’s surgery, he had mentioned he would be going abroad for a while, but I hadn’t expected him to be out of touch like this. Yeongin, staring out the window, watched the world covered in snow and bit down gently on the inside of his cheek.

‘Am I annoying to him… or did he ruin his exam…’

After much deliberation, I sent a message last night asking if he was doing well, but Dogeon did not reply. Realizing that the reason he was becoming more anxious as time passed was not solely because of money, Yeongin licked his parched lips.

“Hyung.”

“Ah, yes.”

“I want to drink some water.”

“Oh, okay.”

Reaching for the water bottle that was out of the child’s reach, he poured the remaining water into Yeongwoo’s cup, noting its light weight, and said:

“Hyung will go get some water. You can stay here by yourself, right?”

“Yes.”

Yeongin stroked the child’s soft hair and rose. It was a heavy walk as he exited the 2-person hospital room and headed to the kitchenette, which was closer than before. His mind was still chaotic with thoughts of Dogeon.

“Haa…”

He had to reschedule tutoring sessions that had been delayed while nursing Yeongwoo, and he had to apply for a leave of absence for the upcoming semester. It was when Yeongin lifted his head, thinking of the tasks he had put off while thinking about the man:

A familiar face was approaching from a distance. Yeongin, who had clenched his fists without realizing it, parted his chapped lips and called out the man’s name.

“……Han Dogeon.”

“Why are you even thinner.”

“…”

“Shit, I told you to buy yourself something delicious to eat.”

For some reason, he was wearing a suit and approaching while pulling down his long tie. Click, clack—the sound of the man’s leather shoes echoed through the empty hallway.

“Ha Yeongin.”

“Why, are you only here now…?”

Dogeon took in the sight of the flushed cheeks above the pale skin. He swept his finger over them, and as he met Yeongin’s gaze, which followed his every movement, he smiled and opened his lips.

“Did you miss me?”

“……Yes.”

Dogeon, who had been asking with a playful, upturned mouth, stopped, his expression hardening. Raising one eyebrow, he looked down at Yeongin with a serious face.

“I think I missed you….”

Yeongin parted his lips and said toward Dogeon:

“Have you been very busy lately? Why didn’t you contact me? I waited for you so much…”

At the sudden touch of Dogeon’s hand grabbing his wrist, Yeongin straightened his head. He knew exactly what the man’s gaze, with his red-rippling pupils and hardened jawline, was pointing toward. But this was a hospital…. Even his younger brother was here.

“Do, Dogeon, wait a second….”

“You’re the one who started it.”

“No, I, it’s not that I don’t want to. I’ll just go tell my brother and come right back. …Can’t you wait for me for a little bit?”

Yeongin, his neck flushed red, showed him the water bottle he was holding in his other hand. Dogeon, staring at the bottle with [Ha Yeongwoo] written on it in magic marker, let go of Yeongin and said in a voice mixed with a sigh:

“I’ll be smoking a cigarette, so come to the roof.”

“Yes. Okay…”

Yeongin nodded with a red face and hurried toward the kitchenette. Dogeon, watching the back of the person moving just as urgently as he felt, headed quickly to the roof, pulled by the intense throbbing below.

“Hoo…”

Dogeon, who had quickly lit it and sucked in the filter, let out a long breath, feeling the acrid smoke fill his lungs. As soon as he arrived in Korea straight from America, he looked for Yeongin.

Had it really piled up that much? It didn’t feel like it.

Dogeon, who had gone around all the subsidiaries in America following his older sister, didn’t even think about relieving the fatigue that had built up over the past few days; he didn’t understand why he had come straight to the hospital. Yet, as he thought of Yeongin’s face just a moment ago, the corners of his mouth loosened.

Under the sunlight, which had become as warm as the thawed weather, he rubbed out the shortened cigarette and turned his head at the sound of someone approaching from behind.

“Dogeon…!”

The face that used to show tension first whenever he saw him now had his two eyes sparkling with anticipation. As if he didn’t dislike that expression, the man tilted his head and pointed to his side.

“Ah, yes.”

Yeongin, sitting right next to him, smelled the heavy perfume and bitter cigarette scent coming from Dogeon and opened his lips.

“Um… by any chance, was it you who took care of Yeongwoo’s surgery and the room change…?”

No matter how much he thought about it, there was no way the hospital would suddenly grant such groundless favors. Until a few months ago, it was a place that told him to clear the bed if he wasn’t going to pay the overdue hospital bills. Yeongin wondered if the reason might be Dogeon.

Yeongin, who had turned his head back to stare at the man, fiddled with his fingers and said:

“Thank you…. Thanks to you, our Yeongwoo has become healthy, and I’ve gotten much better too.”

Since his mother passed away and his father’s business failed, there hadn’t been days as happy as these. Initially, he thought his first meeting with Dogeon was the worst, but he was definitely his benefactor. Yeongin smiled with his eyes curved softly and parted his lips.

“Thank you, Dogeon.”

The man looking down at such a Yeongin rubbed his chin, staring at the reddish corners of his eyes and earlobes. Gaining someone’s heart was always easy.
