“How else can you tell?”

That… ha. You’re really hopeless.

Lee Yuseong’s eyebrows twitched. Why was Choi Jigu getting angry at him, and why was he spouting words that bordered on verbal abuse at Yuseong?

His patience had reached its limit. He could no longer overlook it. Having made up his mind to give Choi Jigu a piece of his mind, Lee Yuseong opened his mouth.

“Hey, you, your words have been too…”

Where’s your house.

But Choi Jigu abruptly cut Lee Yuseong off. At the unexpected words, Lee Yuseong’s lips parted and he hesitated for a moment.

“What?”

A stupid word slipped out. Having sized up Yuseong, Choi Jigu added.

You said you live alone near the school. I’m asking where your house is.

“Why are you asking that?”

“Put on your coat.”

Choi Jigu barged into Lee Yuseong’s house without a second thought.

Of course, Lee Yuseong resisted, refusing to tell him his home address. But faced with Choi Jigu’s relentless insistence, it was Lee Yuseong who raised his hands in surrender.

“…Do you know it’s 3 a.m. right now?”

“Is that what’s important? Look at the state of your foot.”

No matter how clueless Lee Yuseong might be, he wasn’t the type to be completely oblivious to all social cues. He knew that asking for an address at this late hour was practically a declaration that he was coming over right now. So he thought maybe he was going to buy him some burn ointment or something, but…

The moment he arrived, without a single greeting, he brusquely sat Lee Yuseong down in the entrance, grabbed his leg and lifted it, examining his foot.

Lee Yuseong was uncomfortable, embarrassed, and ashamed. He was at a loss as to how to interpret the situation, sprawled in the entryway with one leg taken hostage by Choi Jigu. Submissively putting on his coat also wounded his pride.

Choi Jigu decided to stop seeking consent from the sulking, puffed-up pufferfish who had frozen in his pajamas. If he asked and sought permission for each and every thing, it seemed he might drop dead suddenly like a sunfish, not a pufferfish.

This was the Lee Yuseong that Choi Jigu had seen all day long. Unable to mix with his department peers. Picking at his udon, barely eating. Bumbling around throughout his workplace. And after the incident with the owner, his spirits had completely deflated.

So, in his own way, Choi Jigu had kept joking around and paying attention to him all day so he wouldn’t get too down, but it was no use.

When he called as soon as he got home, it seemed Lee Yuseong had even suffered a burn in the middle of the night.

How could a person be so hopeless, need so much looking after, and be so worrisome? Unable to stand by and watch any longer, Choi Jigu had ended up coming to his house at 3 a.m., just as Lee Yuseong had said.

It was clearly a burn. And a pretty severe one at that. It was at a level that warranted going to the emergency room immediately, and he couldn’t understand how he could be so nonchalant.

“Forget it. Just stay still.”

He couldn’t bear to watch, so he had to take matters into his own hands. Choi Jigu grabbed the spring coat Lee Yuseong had worn today, the first thing he saw, and forced it on him. As he shoved his arms in, Lee Yuseong flinched and jerked away.

“Hey, what are you doing!”

“If I wait for you, the sun will come up. By then, your foot will have rotted off.”

“R-rot off?”

Seeing the color drain from his face, it seemed he was indeed afraid of his foot rotting. Choi Jigu sighed, threaded both of Lee Yuseong’s arms through, and personally fastened each button one by one.

The next moment, in order to change his pants, he abruptly grabbed his pajama bottoms. Lee Yuseong smacked both of Choi Jigu’s hands with his palms.

“Are you crazy? What are you trying to do!”

“I’m changing your pants.”

“Why are you the one doing that!”

“Didn’t you hear me? If I wait for you…”

“I know how to change my own pants! I know how to put on a coat too! I can do it all by myself!”

“Who said you didn’t know? You’re hurt, so it would be faster if I helped, wouldn’t it. If you brush the wound while changing your pants…”

Choi Jigu had his own logic and consideration. Nevertheless, Lee Yuseong trembled and stubbornly peeled Choi Jigu’s hands off.

“Hey, if it were you, would you let an alpha undress you? Huh?”

Here, he had nothing to say. Even though he didn’t know for sure since he wasn’t an omega, the reason was that any alpha who doesn’t back off when an omega says something like this is no better than a total piece of trash.

“Ah, fine, fine. Then hurry up and do it, will you.”

Fuming, Lee Yuseong got up and limped over to the wardrobe.

Choi Jigu stood in the entrance and watched him with an unconvinced heart. And sure enough, Lee Yuseong grabbed a pair of jeans that fell down to his ankles.

“…Lee Yuseong. Your whole foot top is going to get scraped up changing into those, you know?”

“Oh.”

“Or are you doing that because you want me to help?”

“Are you insane.”

Lee Yuseong glared at Choi Jigu with eyes that clearly said he was looking at a real madman. Choi Jigu, who had been on edge and extremely sensitive because Lee Yuseong was hurt, ended up laughing for the first time since he had talked to Lee Yuseong on the phone.

“You really look like you hate it.”

He had only ever received looks of admiration; this was the first time he had received such a look from an omega in his prime.

“Get on my back.”

“I can walk on my own two feet.”

“Ah, come on. Just get on my back, you invalid. Even with slippers on, it’ll all chafe.”

The studio apartment where Yuseong lived was on the 3rd floor of a house. To reach ground level, he had to step down the external iron stairs to the 1st floor.

It was also true that he couldn’t muster the courage to walk all the way down. Lee Yuseong looked back and forth between the ground, which seemed a dizzying distance away, and Choi Jigu’s broad back as he knelt in front of him, and eventually, he had no choice but to lean forward. He climbed onto his back keeping a slight distance so their bodies wouldn’t press together, but as Choi Jigu lifted him up, he adjusted his posture so they were pressed closely together.

Thud. Thud. Each step down caused the iron staircase to emit a heavy, grating sound. Lee Yuseong’s body, suspended in the air, swayed. Stars were thickly studded in the black sky, twinkling.

A pleasant scent rose from Choi Jigu. It was the very same scent Lee Yuseong had first smelled.

Suddenly, his mood became strange. It was churning and restlessly stirring.

They had only come halfway down the stairs. Lee Yuseong talked about something else for no reason.

“Don’t you have a morning lecture tomorrow?”

“It’s a major requirement, isn’t it. You and I have the same one.”

“Oh.”

That’s right. In seven hours, the two of them had to attend the same lecture.

‘But what am I doing at this hour.’

The day had been long, far too long.

It started with running away to avoid Choi Jigu, ended up being caught and pushed around all day, his first part-time job was chaotic, and he fell entangled with the owner. And amidst all that, he had been continuously tense trying to gauge who the culprit from last night was.

Maybe that’s why. Lee Yuseong did something he normally wouldn’t do. And thanks to getting burned, he even ended up calling Choi Jigu at this late hour.

‘And what is he doing…’

From the morning lecture until now. Choi Jigu, who had managed a packed schedule nearly identical to his own, had rushed over as if it were his own business and was carrying Lee Yuseong down the stairs at this late hour.

“Aren’t you tired?”

Yuseong asked quietly. Even though it was a college town, the residential area on the outskirts of the bustling district was endlessly quiet and still, making their voices clear.

“I’m not tired. Don’t even think about slipping away.”

Choi Jigu answered firmly. Lee Yuseong pouted.

“That’s not what I was…”

Before they knew it, the two had reached the ground. Even after stepping off the last stair, Choi Jigu didn’t look the slightest bit tired. Even though Yuseong was an omega, he was on the tall side, so he was inwardly surprised at his stamina.

Choi Jigu carefully pushed the gate open and stepped onto the street.

Surely he’s not planning to walk? Even for a healthy person walking, the university hospital emergency room was a distance that would take a good 40 minutes or more.

To parade through the streets for 40 minutes on Choi Jigu’s back. He thought maybe it would be better to just let his foot rot.

But it was a needless worry. For now, it was a needless worry. Because Lee Yuseong didn’t have to stay on Choi Jigu’s back for 40 minutes.

“Here, let’s go.”

The problem was that he would rather be carried on his back for 40 minutes.

Vroom, Choi Jigu started the engine.

It was a motorcycle. A massively sized one at that.
