Flower Fiancé Chapter 110

Author: nicotine

It had been a while since he’d worked, so he didn’t want to do a half-hearted job. Moreover, it wasn’t his own shop, and it was a flower shop run by the Boss and her husband, who had helped him so much in the past, so he wanted to do even better.

But contrary to his intentions, his body wouldn’t follow. Around 3 o’clock, Ji Yeonwoo ended up throwing up even the late lunch he’d eaten. Rinsing his mouth roughly with water and looking in the mirror, his eyes were dark and his face was pale—he looked truly haggard.

He felt upset. He couldn’t understand why his body had suddenly become unwell, and he felt terribly sorry toward the Boss, who had been asking if he was okay all day.

It started raining from the late afternoon. The rain that began pouring suddenly didn’t let up easily.

As 5 o’clock approached, the Boss called out to Ji Yeonwoo, who was sweeping up fallen leaves on the floor with a broom.

“Yeonwoo.”

“Yes, Boss.”

As Ji Yeonwoo approached, the Boss carefully took the broom from his hand.

“That’s enough. Stop there and head out quickly.”

“Oh, but…”

Smiling, the Boss turned her gaze out the window. Looking where she pointed, his eyes met Choi Moohyuk, who was parked in front of the flower shop. Standing under an umbrella, Choi Moohyuk was wearing the same suit he’d had on in the morning.

“Looks like your husband came to pick you up.”

“Yes. He was worried since it was my first day, but…”

The Boss gave a warm smile to the flustered Ji Yeonwoo.

“At times like this, just pretend you don’t notice and go. Oh my, what a caring husband. My husband was like that too during our honeymoon.”

The Boss glanced at Choi Moohyuk standing with an umbrella in front of the shop. As she said, it seemed to remind her of old times.

Choi Moohyuk, who had been looking elsewhere for a moment, turned around at the sound of the door opening.

“Mr. Moohyuk.”

Ji Yeonwoo smiled and slipped right under the umbrella. At the arm that wrapped snugly around his waist, Choi Moohyuk quickly turned his head. Ji Yeonwoo, pressing his body close, looked up at Choi Moohyuk and smiled brightly.

“You came?”

Choi Moohyuk smiled back and swept Ji Yeonwoo’s hair aside.

“How was work? Was it manageable?”

“It’s always like that. Still, it was nice to see flowers after such a long time.”

Meeting his eyes with a smile, Ji Yeonwoo matched his pace as he walked toward the passenger seat. To help him find stability, Choi Moohyuk purposely released a little pheromone. Whether he felt Choi Moohyuk’s pheromones or not, Ji Yeonwoo, who had been matching his pace while holding one arm, flinched and shivered.

“Ah, Mr. Moohyuk. The pheromones…”

“Should I stop if you don’t like it?”

As he wrapped an arm around his shoulder and asked gently, Ji Yeonwoo quickly shook his head.

“No. Please give me a little more.”

Ji Yeonwoo flinched but didn’t refuse. Choi Moohyuk released a bit more pheromones and leaned his priority toward Ji Yeonwoo.

Was it his imagination? Behind the smiling face, there was a shadow. Was the work so hard that he was reacting this sensitively even to such weak pheromones? But since it was the familiar Boss, he didn’t think she would have given him overly demanding tasks.

“It feels so good, your pheromones, Mr. Moohyuk. Now I feel like I can live.”

As he opened the passenger door, Ji Yeonwoo sat down, sinking into the seat as if burying himself. Coming around to the front and sitting in the driver’s seat, Choi Moohyuk let out a soft laugh at the sight of Yeonwoo. He reclined the passenger seat, took off his jacket, and covered Ji Yeonwoo’s upper body. He also turned on the heated seat to a low setting. Ji Yeonwoo already looked drowsy and languid.

“Should we eat dinner before going home?”

Holding Choi Moohyuk’s jacket covering his upper body with both hands and pulling it up a little higher, Ji Yeonwoo shook his head.

“…No. I just want to go home.”

“You’re so tired you don’t even feel like eating dinner.”

“It’s not that bad, though…”

Ji Yeonwoo hesitated.

“…Did something happen today?”

He couldn’t hold back and asked, seeing Ji Yeonwoo acting differently than usual. Burying himself in the jacket, Ji Yeonwoo turned his head toward Choi Moohyuk.

“Well, actually, I threw up what I ate for lunch.”

Hearing that, Choi Moohyuk’s face twisted.

“…Were you feeling very unwell?”

That was clearly the expression of someone worried.

“It was just a moment. I felt bad then, but I got better afterwards. Ah, I wonder why I’m like this lately.”

“This won’t do. Shouldn’t we make a hospital appointment?”

“But it’s not like I’m in constant pain.”

“You never know, so you should get checked out. Your body showing abnormal reactions isn’t a good sign.”

“That’s true, but…”

Ji Yeonwoo took Choi Moohyuk’s still-worried hand and held it.

“It’s not like I’m in severe pain anywhere, so let’s go after you finish your busy work, Mr. Moohyuk.”

“…”

“It’ll be fine. Don’t worry too much.”

Whether he knew how anxious Choi Moohyuk’s heart was or not, Ji Yeonwoo smiled with his eyes and acted playfully. Unable to resist, Choi Moohyuk met his eyes and smiled back, but his worried expression didn’t fade.

“How can I not worry when you’re sick.”

Sweeping back his brown hair, Choi Moohyuk let out a shallow sigh.

“I think it’s best if you don’t go to the shop for a while.”

Hearing that, Ji Yeonwoo lowered the corners of his eyes as if expecting it.

“I’ve said it several times, but I allowed you to do that work on the condition that you maintain good health. We’re not short on money, and I can’t let you keep working in this condition.”

“…”

“Are you upset about my decision?”

“It’s not that I’m upset, I’m just disappointed. It was so nice to see flowers again after so long. I feel betrayed by my body for not keeping up… Still, I fully understand how you feel. I’ll follow your wishes.”

Lowering his gaze, Ji Yeonwoo briefly met Choi Moohyuk’s eyes and gave a faint, fragile smile. As Ji Yeonwoo said, his expression was mixed with various emotions.

Choi Moohyuk stroked Ji Yeonwoo’s hair, then cupped the back of his head and kissed him.

He was grateful for Ji Yeonwoo, who obediently followed his wishes without showing any sign of displeasure.

The next day, Ji Yeonwoo didn’t get up until well past noon. And he didn’t wake up on his own either—it was because the housekeeper, who had come to work, worried when Ji Yeonwoo didn’t come out of his room and carefully entered to check on him.

Sitting at the dining table, Ji Yeonwoo looked disheveled. The housekeeper, setting a bowl of freshly boiled mugwort soybean paste soup in front of Ji Yeonwoo, saw his state and smiled kindly.

“Oh my, what’s going on. Sleeping all the way until this hour.”

“I know. I’ve been strangely sleepy and couldn’t get up.”

Actually, he hadn’t told Choi Moohyuk everything because he didn’t want to worry him, but recently it wasn’t just that he was sleeping more. As time went on, his stomach felt more bloated, and he didn’t feel like eating even the foods he usually enjoyed. That was exactly the case now. Even though soybean paste stew, soybean paste soup, and salted pollock roe were his favorite side dishes, he didn’t want to touch them at all. Had his tastes changed somehow? Scanning the warm rice and side dishes in front of him, Ji Yeonwoo tilted his head and rubbed his stomach.

“Why, are you feeling unwell somewhere?”

The housekeeper asked with a worried look. After rubbing his stomach for a while, pouting his lips, and lost in thought, Ji Yeonwoo picked up his spoon.

“It’s just, my stomach keeps feeling bloated. I was wondering if I should take some digestive medicine.”

Taking a spoonful of the mugwort soybean paste soup, Ji Yeonwoo looked at the housekeeper and gave a small smile. But upon hearing his words, the housekeeper’s expression grew serious. With puzzled eyes, she observed Ji Yeonwoo as he slowly began his meal. He was eating rice and soup slowly, but he didn’t touch the side dishes he normally ate well. His chopsticks went toward seasoned bean sprouts or seasoned spinach—plain, non-stimulating vegetable side dishes with almost no strong scent.

“By the way, how long has it been since you came back from your honeymoon? About one or two months?”

The housekeeper stared at Ji Yeonwoo and asked. Taking a spoonful of soup and putting it in his mouth, Ji Yeonwoo looked up at the housekeeper. Slowly moving his jaw, lost in thought, Ji Yeonwoo nodded his head.

“That’s right. It’s been just under two months.”

“Have you talked to the representative about it?”

“No. Not yet. I didn’t say anything because I thought it would get better soon, but I guess I should discuss it with him, right? It seems to be getting worse.”

“This is just my opinion, but…”
