Flower Fiancé Chapter 128

Author: nicotine

“What brings you here without even a call?” Clearly not pleased with the uninvited guest, Choi Moohyuk grumbled as he opened the door. As soon as Choi Minhyeok appeared, surprise spread across the faces of Choi Moohyuk and Ji Yeonwoo. Choi Minhyeok, who had entered the house, had a fairly large white rabbit plushie tucked under his arm and was carrying large shopping bags filled with toys in both hands.

“Geon-a. I heard our nephew was sick.”

As soon as he entered the house, Choi Minhyeok set down the shopping bags as if tossing them aside and approached Geon-i, who was in Ji Yeonwoo’s arms. He didn’t even seem to see Choi Moohyuk and Ji Yeonwoo—no greeting whatsoever. From the start, it meant the two of them weren’t his purpose.

“Hey, you don’t even see—”

Before he could finish, Geon-i, who had been in Ji Yeonwoo’s arms, reached out both arms toward Choi Minhyeok, looking delighted.

“Bba, baba, bba…”

Babbling and showing his joy, Choi Moohyuk let out a hollow laugh in disbelief.

There’s a saying that babies know who truly cherishes them. Just like that saying, Geon-i waved his hands happily at Choi Minhyeok, who never spared words like “pretty” or “cute” whenever he saw him and always welcomed him warmly.

“Our Geon-i, where did all your cute chubby cheeks go, huh?”

Perhaps because he hadn’t eaten well during the days he suffered from high fever, Geon-i’s cheeks had sunken a little, and even that Choi Minhyeok noticed like a hawk. He had always caused so much trouble that everyone worried when he’d ever grow up—but who knew he had such a domestic side to him.

“Oh, hold on. Let me wash my hands first, Uncle.”

Just as he was about to touch Geon-i’s white, glutinous-rice-cake-like cheeks, he suddenly stood up and ran to the bathroom. Watching that, Choi Moohyuk couldn’t help but laugh.

They say it’s natural for all aunts and uncles to dote on their first nephew, but seeing him take the lead in anything concerning Geon-i as if it were his own business made him think it was about time that rascal got married too.

And indeed, Choi Minhyeok was on the verge of marrying the Omega he had been steadily dating. Although the Omega was five years younger, since meeting him, Choi Minhyeok had become a bit more mature, so he thought they were a good match.

“Didn’t you miss your uncle? Uncle missed you so, so much.”

Choi Minhyeok took Geon-i from Ji Yeonwoo and settled down on the sofa below. He was so enamored that he didn’t know what to do, holding Geon-i’s glutinous-rice-cake-like cheeks in both hands and squishing them. Geon-i, who had been happy at first, soon seemed annoyed by his uncle’s fussing and busily pushed his approaching face away.

Eventually, Geon-i squirmed with his short arms and legs, escaping from Choi Minhyeok’s arms, and toddled away to hide. As he wobbled and almost fell while walking unsteadily, Choi Moohyuk reached out, caught him, and set him upright, and Geon-i started walking again with a sway. But his relentless uncle didn’t let him escape—he simply reached out, scooped Geon-i up again, and sat him on his knee.

“Why are you running away? Uncle bought you toys because you were sick.”

Choi Moohyuk watched Choi Minhyeok pestering Geon-i with his arms crossed, clearly displeased. Several times, Ji Yeonwoo stopped him from intervening with a smiling face, and eventually, Geon-i, who had been more or less forced onto Choi Minhyeok’s lap, whimpered a bit before his eyes went wide at the rabbit plushie almost as big as his own body in front of him.

“Geon-a, what’s this? It’s a CarBot, a CarBot. Wow, there’s even Lego here?”

When Choi Minhyeok waved around toys that an 11-month-old Geon-i couldn’t possibly play with yet, Choi Moohyuk shook his head.

“Enough. He needs to wait at least another year before he can play with those.”

“What? No way. The Boss at the toy store said kids would love playing with them.”

“So naive. You fell for their sales pitch again.”

As Choi Moohyuk clicked his tongue, Choi Minhyeok twisted one eyebrow. These brothers bickered whenever they locked eyes. The instigator was always Choi Minhyeok.

Watching them, Ji Yeonwoo scooped up Geon-i, who was whining and struggling in Choi Minhyeok’s arms.

“You’d be a 100-point dad if you had kids, wouldn’t you?”

As Ji Yeonwoo patted the back of Geon-i, who clung to him, Choi Minhyeok sat comfortably on the floor and looked up at Choi Moohyuk.

“Honestly, I don’t know about being a 100-point dad, but I could definitely be a better dad than you, hyung.”

As if getting back at him, Choi Minhyeok lightly needled him. Just as Choi Moohyuk was about to say something, Ji Yeonwoo’s voice was faster.

“Why do you say that? Mr. Moohyuk is so good at it. I’m sure he’s a better dad to Geon-i than I am. Right, Geon-a.”

Ji Yeonwoo said calmly, looking at Geon-i’s face. Ji Yeonwoo, who would have usually just laughed it off, was now defending Choi Moohyuk in front of Choi Minhyeok.

Choi Minhyeok, with a dumbfounded expression, looked back and forth between Ji Yeonwoo and Choi Moohyuk and let out a hollow laugh in disbelief.

“Wow, they say couples grow alike, and it’s true. How are you turning more and more like hyung?”

“That’s a compliment, right?”

Seeing Ji Yeonwoo smile back with that question, Choi Minhyeok paused. Sensing he was in a disadvantageous position, he shot a pleading look at Choi Moohyuk for help, but there was no way he’d have an ally here.

“Hah, when a couple attacks as a pair, it really hurts, you know?”

When he said it with genuine hurt in his voice, Ji Yeonwoo laughed silently and looked at Choi Moohyuk. Exchanging a smile with their eyes, Choi Moohyuk looked at Geon-i.

“Geon-i is falling asleep.”

At Choi Moohyuk’s words, Ji Yeonwoo’s gaze turned downward. Geon-i, cradled in his arms, was sucking his thumb with his head resting on his chest. His eyes were already half-closed. When he pointed with his finger to show him, Ji Yeonwoo nodded.

“I’ll go put Geon-i down.”

Ji Yeonwoo took Geon-i into the room, leaving only Choi Moohyuk and Choi Minhyeok in the living room.

Choi Minhyeok stared intently at Geon-i’s room where Ji Yeonwoo had gone.

“Jealous?”

Choi Moohyuk said, standing with his hands in his pants pockets.

“If you’re jealous, just get married.”

“I’m going to get married whether you tell me to or not. And I’m going to live even more annoyingly than you, hyung-nim.”

Choi Minhyeok answered gruffly, as if genuinely sulking. He didn’t like seeing a grown man sulking so pettily, but instead of saying more about that, he changed the subject.

“So what brings you here all of a sudden? You didn’t really come just because Geon-i was sick.”

Choi Minhyeok, who had been fidgeting with the rabbit plushie Geon-i had been playing with as if reluctant to let go, carefully set it aside and stood up.

“Father said to have dinner at home this weekend.”

The subject was omitted, but it was instantly clear whose opinion it was.

“All of a sudden?”

“Christmas is coming soon, and he said it’s been a long time since he’s seen your faces.”

Choi Moohyuk stared at Choi Minhyeok and let out a chuckle.

“Nice excuse. He should just say he wants to see his grandson.”

The tactic was so transparent it was laughable. Even when he’d heard the news of Ji Yeonwoo’s pregnancy, he’d changed so drastically it was hard to believe a person could transform that much—and after Geon-i was born, he’d become a kindly grandfather beyond words.

He’d drop everything and rush home whenever Geon-i came around, so it was easy to guess how great that love was. Lately, both Choi Moohyuk and Ji Yeonwoo had been too busy to visit the main house much, so he must have missed them.

“There seemed to be something else he wanted to say too. He didn’t go into details, but that was the vibe.”

Just as Choi Moohyuk was about to respond, he heard the door open and turned his head. He met eyes with Ji Yeonwoo, who had just come out after putting Geon-i to sleep.

“I’ll discuss it and let you know.”

Choi Minhyeok smiled faintly and nodded.

“Speaking of which, do you have any plans for Christmas this year?”

“Not yet.”

At Choi Moohyuk’s calm response, Choi Minhyeok asked back in surprise.

“Not yet? There’s only about two weeks left, you know?”

Ji Yeonwoo, who had come closer to Choi Moohyuk’s side, widened his eyes and looked at him, as if trying to gauge what they were talking about. Catching the hint from the words “two weeks left,” he fell into thought for a moment before whispering softly, “Christmas?” Choi Moohyuk glanced at Ji Yeonwoo, smiled faintly at the corner of his mouth, and nodded.

“Wherever we go, we won’t be able to move around much.”

“Why?”

Choi Moohyuk wrapped his arm around Ji Yeonwoo’s back, pulling him close.

“Because we have to adjust to Yeonwoo’s condition.”

Choi Minhyeok’s eyes still showed he didn’t understand, but Ji Yeonwoo seemed to realize something, meekly accepting Choi Moohyuk’s touch.
