Flower Fiancé Chapter 133

“…!”

“So I went to get tested, and…”

Hearing those words, Choi Moohyuk’s eyes widened.

“They said six weeks.”

Meeting Choi Moohyuk’s eyes, Ji Yeonwoo handed over a small ultrasound photo.

“Right now it’s so small you can barely see it, but…”

Accepting the ultrasound photo in a daze, Choi Moohyuk looked at Ji Yeonwoo in disbelief.

“They said we’re having our second child, Mr. Moohyuk.”

Ji Yeonwoo said with a smile that made his eyes curve, and Choi Moohyuk stared at him like that before suddenly pulling him into a tight embrace.

“Hah, what a relief. I thought something had happened to you…”

Choi Moohyuk’s hands, holding his shoulders and back tightly, trembled faintly. It was easy to guess what kind of feelings had brought him all the way to the hospital.

Ji Yeonwoo regretted not just finishing everything and calling him directly, holding Choi Moohyuk’s back with both hands and patting him.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to startle you. Really.”

“I know. Okay, just—stay like this for a little while longer.”

Choi Moohyuk adjusted his grip as his arms began to loosen.

The two headed straight home. The housekeeper was puzzled to see them both home early, but after hearing the reason, she held Ji Yeonwoo’s hand and shared in the joy.

Previously, everything in the household had revolved around Geon-i—now the situation had changed. From the home environment to the side dishes, everything was adjusted for Ji Yeonwoo. That was because they remembered how severely he had suffered from morning sickness when carrying Geon-i.

Ji Yeonwoo tried to refuse, saying it made him more uncomfortable, but Choi Moohyuk and the housekeeper were even more particular. In particular, Choi Moohyuk adjusted even his commute times to care for Geon-i, and even made Ji Yeonwoo be careful about just holding Geon-i.

With them practically not letting him move at all, Ji Yeonwoo had no choice but to sit quietly on the sofa and watch the bustling activity.

Perhaps the baby in his belly sensed Ji Yeonwoo’s concerns.

As expected, Ji Yeonwoo’s morning sickness wasn’t severe. There were just a few foods he couldn’t eat—he wasn’t particularly sensitive to smells, nor were his symptoms so nauseating that he couldn’t function.

Once it became clear that his condition wasn’t serious, the topic naturally turned to whether to keep running <Flower Fiancé>.

Ji Yeonwoo cautiously expressed his intention to continue operating the shop. Of course, Choi Moohyuk wanted him to rest, but he couldn’t just leave the shop, which had reopened after two years, unattended again.

Taking a little more time than usual to finish arranging the flowers, Ji Yeonwoo tapped his stiff lower back with his fist. He wiped the cold sweat from his temples with the back of his hand.

His phone vibrated inside his apron. It was a call from Seo Eungyeom.

“Oh, Eungyeom.”

The moment he pressed the answer button and brought it to his ear, a loud voice boomed from the phone.

[Ji Yeonwoo, I heard you’re having a second child.]

Startled, Ji Yeonwoo pulled the phone away from his ear and stared at the screen. How does this guy hear news so fast? Blinking his eyes, he brought it back to his ear.

“How did you know?”

[I got a call from Mister. The representative must have asked him all sorts of things over the phone. Hey, when you have good news, you should tell me first.]

“Sorry. I’ve been so preoccupied.”

Having been peppered with rapid-fire questions without a moment to breathe, Ji Yeonwoo laughed softly and sat down in a chair.

[Why, is it bad again this time?]

“No. It’s not that—it’s because of the shop.”

[Right. I thought so—the representative seemed worried. I asked him if it was really okay.]

Hearing Seo Eungyeom’s voice, which had become much softer, Ji Yeonwoo let out a small sigh. He knew Choi Moohyuk was worried, but he hadn’t realized to what extent.

[Do you really want to do it?]

Seo Eungyeom asked cautiously. Ji Yeonwoo looked around at the flowers in <Flower Fiancé> with calm eyes.

“Yes. I want to. No, I’m going to make it work.”

Hearing Ji Yeonwoo’s quiet resolve, Seo Eungyeom was silent for a moment before continuing.

[Alright. If that’s your decision, there’s no helping it. I’ll tell Mister to only say good things if he gets another call from the representative.]

As expected, Seo Eungyeom is the best. Ji Yeonwoo glanced at his phone and smiled.

“Thanks. But are you still calling him Mister?”

[I don’t know. It’s stuck—can’t seem to shake it. Actually, Mister keeps scolding me for it.]

“Is Hajun growing well?”

[Of course. This morning he went to daycare saying he wanted to go see Geon-i.]

“Bring him over sometime. Geon-i has been walking well lately too.”

Hajun, born a few months earlier, was a year older than Geon-i but they got along like friends. They often met up at Ji Yeonwoo’s place, and seeing Geon-i and Hajun sitting side by side playing was just adorable. Thinking that soon there would be three of them was a little dizzying too.

After finishing the call and hanging up, Ji Yeonwoo slowly wiped the smile from his lips. After hearing what Seo Eungyeom had said, his thoughts grew heavy. Letting out a small sigh, Ji Yeonwoo gazed blankly outside at the dusk settling beyond the glass window.

Choi Moohyuk came to pick him up right at closing time.

“You’re here? Just a moment. Let me finish this one thing first.”

After finishing up his work, Ji Yeonwoo brought out his coat and bag from inside. After checking the greenhouse temperature and thoroughly inspecting everything, he finally turned off the lights.

Choi Moohyuk, who was taller than Ji Yeonwoo, locked the front door for him.

“You must be tired. Let’s get home quickly and…”

As Choi Moohyuk wrapped his arm around his shoulder and headed toward the car, Ji Yeonwoo stopped abruptly. Choi Moohyuk stopped as well and looked back with puzzled eyes.

“Mr. Moohyuk, shall we walk a little?”

“Now?”

“Yes. Just a little bit.”

Hearing the unexpected suggestion, a hint of tension flickered across Choi Moohyuk’s face. It was extremely rare for Ji Yeonwoo to request a conversation with such a serious expression.

The two stopped by a nearby café and each ordered a warm Americano and a herbal tea to go.

Their pace as they walked through the nearby park was slower than the other people around them.

Holding the warm herbal tea in both hands and taking a sip, Ji Yeonwoo finally spoke once the area grew quiet.

“I heard from Eungyeom. He said you called Mister.”

“…Huh?”

Choi Moohyuk looked back with a rare flustered expression. Ji Yeonwoo stopped walking and turned toward him.

“Are you that worried?”

At the gentle question, Choi Moohyuk took one of Ji Yeonwoo’s hands.

“Of course.”

“It’s because you’re afraid I’ll get sick again, isn’t it?”

He didn’t answer the second question. But sensing it was an affirmation, Ji Yeonwoo continued.

“I know all of that. Of course I know you’re worried. When I was carrying Geon-i, things almost went badly, and I was in particularly poor health then. But this time, things are a little different—can you trust me on that?”

Ji Yeonwoo adjusted his grip on Choi Moohyuk’s fingertips, which had been held downward, and calmly conveyed his thoughts.

“I’m not being stubborn just for the sake of it even though I’m unwell. When I was carrying Geon-i, it was my decision to quit the shop. I knew my body wasn’t doing well too. But right now, I’m doing so well—and just because I’m pregnant, giving up what I have in my hands doesn’t feel like the right decision.”

“Yeonwoo, I…”

“I know. I know it’s all because you’re worried about me. But can’t you understand just a little?”

Ji Yeonwoo stared straight into Choi Moohyuk’s eyes. Lowering the corners of his eyes as if to say “Hm?” and asking to be heard, he came a little closer.

Staring at that face, Choi Moohyuk turned his head toward the sky and let out a long breath.

“Fine. But I have conditions too.”

Choi Moohyuk pressed firmly on the interlocked fingertips as he spoke. Seeing that, Ji Yeonwoo drew a calm smile at the corner of his mouth.

“Okay. Tell me.”

“Starting tomorrow, let’s adjust the opening and closing times by an hour each. For the time being, don’t do deliveries, and on days when flowerpots arrive, don’t handle them yourself—call me.”

“Okay. I’ll do that. And is there anything else you want to say?”

“And if you feel even the slightest discomfort, you come straight home and rest. Understood?”
