“Oh my, you’re leaving already?”

“I’ve grown so attached to Axion’s Mom. What am I going to do?”

“Exactly. I’m really sad about it too.”

Each of the mom members clutched their hoes tightly, tears welling up in their eyes. Among them, the oldest and rather blunt member gazed into the distance and spoke.

“You’re going far away?”

The normally blunt woman showing such regret made the impact all the greater.

The members’ tears grew even heavier. Sniff, sniff.

As if trying to comfort them, I said,

“Umm, it’s not that far. Don’t be too sad. I’ll be back soon! Haha. Come to think of it, you heard the news, right? The Evanroar Viscountcy expanded the communal fields even further.”

Then the member who was usually in charge of keeping the mood lively spoke energetically.

“Oh my, really! How could the young lady be so kind-hearted? I never realized it until now.”

“Ahem. That’s right. I thought she only farmed every day and didn’t care much about us. Come to think of it, I heard the young lady is leaving the estate this time too?”

“Oh my, she’s leaving at the same time as Axion’s Mom. What a shame. The fields are expanding too, so we’ll be able to take more produce with us. Goodness.”

I scratched the back of my head.

“It’s okay. My family only consists of the baby and me anyway. We don’t eat that much.”

“Still, you can sell whatever’s left.”

“Haha.”

As the lively mom members quickly returned to their usual cheerful atmosphere, I diligently pulled weeds.

Since I was going to move anyway, I had to enter the Siastor Ducal Estate immediately.

I needed to secure land where I could grow rice.

I also had to work on irrigation. The soil needed to be cultivated and fertilized.

Of course, before that, I had to make the fertilizer first.

‘There’s so much to do.’

If I wanted to successfully grow rice by next year, the deadline Dazar had given me, and also teach rice farming to the people the Imperial Family would send—

I felt like even having ten bodies wouldn’t be enough.

‘Well, I’m already living the life of a farming addict who’s obsessed with agriculture every day anyway…….’

I could indulge in my farming hobby as usual while making money. Then I could use that money to educate Axion……

And on top of that, wouldn’t the female lead, Vanilla, be right beside us?

I could secure the childhood-friend position where their love would blossom from a young age!

Hehehe.

For that reason, I decided to temporarily move into the ducal residence with Axion and Carl.

“Then, I’ll be going now!”

“Oh, alright. You’ve worked so hard all this time! You have to come back here when you return!”

“Yes!”

After finishing my work and exchanging a tearful farewell with the mom members, I returned to the estate.

A few days later, after sending the necessary belongings ahead by carriage, I left the Evanroar Viscountcy.

In my hand as I left the estate was a note that Deputy Butler Hail had given me.

“Have a safe journey.”

Surprisingly, Deputy Butler Hail was someone from the hazy depths of this Cilia’s memories, someone even the original Cilia barely remembered.

‘Wait, Grandpa. We had a deputy butler?’

‘Ahem. He’s rather shy and doesn’t usually show himself, but he diligently carries out his duties.’

‘What? Is he some kind of shadow warrior?’

Well, thanks to him, even Carl, the butler, could abandon his butler duties and leave the estate with me.

Although Carl following me out of the estate was largely because of Axion.

‘He won’t come back and give us an earful, will he?’

I was a little concerned about Sivelstain, this body’s older brother. But considering the unusual things this body had done, he probably wouldn’t be too surprised even if I left for a while.

‘Besides, I’m leaving someone behind as a contact.’

I had established a means of communication through Deputy Butler Hail, so somehow, things would work out.

Deciding to take it easy, I quickly left the estate.

After being shown the room where I would be staying at the Siastor Ducal Estate, I carried Axion and headed toward Dazar.

Although their first meeting had been terrible, I figured I should at least introduce them properly since he was going to be Axion’s grandfather.

I headed to the place the attendant had told me about.

“I was actually putting off calling you because I couldn’t be bothered.”

Unlike last time, Dazar was in an open area behind the ducal residence.

The empty lot was dyed red by the setting sun.

He had been crouching on the red ground, drawing something, but when he saw me, he stood up.

“Did we have some kind of telepathic connection?”

“As if.”

“How cold.”

Dazar approached with both hands shoved into his trouser pockets, walking with an insolent posture.

His shirt was loosely undone as though it were too suffocating, his black hair falling freely around his face, and beneath it were golden eyes that seemed to hold a hint of madness.

He was absolutely nothing like the ‘graceful and courteous’ Duke Dazar.

“You said you were going to call me?”

“Yes. There’s something I need to do. That thing.”

He pointed at Axion with his long index finger.

I turned my body slightly, hiding Axion from him, and narrowed my eyes.

“You call a cute newborn ‘that thing’? What terrible manners. Tsk. What’s wrong with our Axion?”

“Abu.”

Axion knew when he heard his own name and placed his soft, sticky hand against my cheek.

I hugged Axion tightly as he grabbed and kneaded my cheek, glaring at Dazar as though he were a villain.

Standing crookedly in front of me with his hands still in his pockets, Dazar twisted up the corner of his mouth.

“Yes. That thing in his heart.”

“……The Dragon Heart?”

Dazar nodded.

“Elston blurred it slightly with magic, but since magic is a power that shares a connection with demonic energy, it can’t be completely concealed. It won’t stand up to a divine barrier.”

“……?”

Did that mean he was going to place a divine barrier around Axion’s heart?

He jerked his head as if telling me to follow.

I followed him as he strode away.

The head of the Siastor family, which had guarded the ‘Rifts’ for generations, was personally going to place a barrier on Axion.

When I approached him with a bewildered expression, he spoke in a casual tone.

“A human child with the heart of a Demon Dragon. That makes him the number one target for execution.”

“!”

I followed him onto the complicated magic array and widened my eyes in shock.

Number one target for execution?

A chill ran down the back of my neck.

I pulled Axion tightly against me, putting all my strength into my toes in case I needed to run.

At that moment, he pulled his hands from his pockets and casually said,

“Don’t worry. I have no intention of killing him.”

Without lowering my guard, I asked,

“……Why?”

He hesitated for a moment, then rolled his eyes.

“Because it’s interesting.”

“What?”

What was this man talking about?

“It’s interesting. A human who extended his life using the heart of a Demon Dragon. I’ve never heard or seen anything like it.”

“…….”

I briefly wondered if the purpose of this man’s entire life was simply to have fun. But as I stared at Dazar,

‘It doesn’t seem to be only because of that.’

It seemed there was another reason.

His eyes, somehow deeper than before, seemed to tell me so.

“Well, unfortunately, the Transcendents other than me won’t think the same way. If you stay at the ducal residence, you’ll eventually run into one of them by chance. So I should take precautions.”

“Ah…….”

As he said that, he bit down hard on his thumb with his canine tooth.

Blood immediately dripped onto the ground.

At the same time, the magic array drawn on the ground began to glow faintly.

“Bind.”

With his bloodied hand, he drew a small formula, and a cluster of faint light rose from the ground and fluttered toward Axion’s heart.

“Woah?”

Axion seemed fascinated by the sight and reached out to catch the floating light, but his hand simply passed through it.

The gathering light gradually took on a vivid white color before seeping into Axion’s body.

He blinked with a bewildered expression, but since he wasn’t crying, it seemed it didn’t hurt.

Dazar stepped a little closer and stared down at Axion before licking the blood from his thumb with the tip of his tongue.

“Done.”

“Uh……. Th-thank you?”

I should at least thank him, right?

It did seem like there was a reason behind it.

If Dazar was right, Axion might have been killed by the Transcendents otherwise.

‘Come to think of it, the original story said Axion had narrowly escaped death several times when he was young.’

It was only briefly mentioned, so I didn’t know the details, but perhaps, as Dazar said, it had something to do with the Transcendents.

‘In the original story, Axion hated the Transcendents.’

Dazar stared at me with an awkward expression before suddenly calling out,

“Ah, and that white thing you made back then…….”

“Yes?”

His golden eyes narrowed for a moment before returning to their original size. He seemed to be thinking about something.

He rolled his eyes toward me, then cleared his throat and turned his head away.

“Never mind.”

“?”

Was I irritated because it felt like he was deliberately teasing me?

Or was it because this crazy in-law was simply an inherently unpleasant two-faced man?

I thought about it for a moment before deciding to ignore him. I owed him a favor, after all.

“You said you needed workers, right?”

“Ah, yes.”

He brushed dirt over the magic array he had drawn on the ground, then suddenly looked up as though he had remembered something.

“Go over there. I’ve already spoken to them.”

He pointed toward a large building across the empty lot. A building with a large emblem of a valiant black hawk spreading its wings carved into it.

“There should be some trash there. Pick out a decent group of those who can be recycled.”

I searched through my memories, trying to remember what the black hawk represented.

The knight order of the Siastor Duchy, whose name was known throughout the Quizen Empire—

The Black Hawk.

“Trash……?”

At my empty mutter, Axion lightly slapped my cheek as if telling me to snap out of it.

“Abuuu!”
