I’m the Future Crazy Male Lead’s Mother Chapter 33
“……Good. This should be enough.”
I carefully wrote a reply to Sylvestain, folded it neatly, and placed it in an envelope. I asked about Ruben, how much he had managed to find out about my body, and also the whereabouts of the books Hail had requested.
“Should I send this letter to Wolf’s shoe store? Lady Cilia?”
Carl asked while rubbing his sleepy eyes.
By the time I arrived at the Siaster estate, it was already quite late, and Carl, who had been waiting for me to arrive, had just put Axion to sleep.
‘What? You found out where Sir Sylvestain is?’
‘No. To be precise, I found out where to send a letter to him.’
Carl seemed curious about the process after I had suddenly announced that I was going to the Evanroar Viscount’s estate and returned saying that I had found a way to contact the head of the family.
But it wasn’t exactly something I could tell him.
‘Carl doesn’t know anything about Cilia’s body, nor does he know what Ruben is.’
I had brushed it off by saying that I had simply gotten some sort of feeling as his sister, but he didn’t look convinced. Still, what could I do? If I said that was the case, he had to believe me.
“Yes. Apparently, it’s a shoe store on the eastern coast of the Empire.”
“I see. Understood.”
Yaaawn. Carl yawned as he accepted the letter.
“I’ll send it by the fastest available method first thing tomorrow morning.”
After he trudged out of the room with sleepy footsteps, I was left alone. I headed to Axion’s room, which was connected to mine.
Axion was sleeping peacefully like an angel.
“You’re sleeping well.”
I whispered in an extremely quiet voice so I wouldn’t wake him, then gently rested my arm against the cradle.
“Axion, you and I both have quite a few secrets, don’t we? Maybe it was fate that we became family.”
I carefully stroked his plump cheek with the back of my hand, making sure not to wake him, before returning to my room and going to bed.
And the next day.
“Kyah!”
Axion was overflowing with energy today. While Carl was away early in the morning to send the letter, I was left alone to take care of Axion and had to work up quite a sweat.
“Oh my. Our Axion has so much energy today, huh? Do you want to jump up and down?”
“Wah!”
Axion grabbed my hands excitedly and repeatedly stomped his feet. He seemed to want to jump, but he didn’t have enough muscle for that yet, so all he could do was wiggle his bottom up and down.
Ugh. He was just too cute.
I nearly became dizzy from how adorable Axion was, cute enough to make me want to bite his chubby cheeks, but I somehow held myself back and grabbed both of his hands, lifting them up and down.
“Kyah!”
“Up we go.”
“Kyah!”
“Up we gooo.”
“Kyahhh!”
……I was clearly doing my absolute best to play with him.
So why wasn’t Axion’s energy decreasing?
Rather than getting tired, he seemed to be gaining even more energy, stomping his feet faster and faster.
“This won’t do. Axion, should we go outside?”
It was a little chilly outside, but I didn’t think I could handle all of Axion’s energy inside the house.
After all, overflowing energy was meant to be released outdoors!
I headed outside with Axion in one arm and a container full of his toys in the other.
And that was when I ran into Vanilla.
“What? Lady Vanilla?”
“……!”
Apparently, she had been playing by herself early in the morning. Vanilla was sitting in the little sandbox where I had often played with Axion before, playing with the sand.
Despite having come here countless times until now, I had never run into her before.
‘We usually play here during the day.’
If early morning was Vanilla’s usual playtime, then it made sense that we had never met.
Maybe we could play together with Vanilla?
I wanted to bring Vanilla and Axion together, but Elston’s lessons lasted longer than I expected, so it wasn’t easy to find an opportunity.
“Lady Vanilla. Would you like to play together if you’re free? Where is your play tutor?”
“……N-no play teacher”
Fidgeting.
Vanilla stood up while hiding her sand-covered hands behind her back, watching me carefully.
Why was Vanilla acting like that? No, more importantly, why was she here alone?
‘Shouldn’t her tutor normally be playing with her?’
Dazar didn’t seem to have hired a separate nanny, but Vanilla had quite a few tutors.
“Did they step away for a moment?”
Well, bringing a young child who should still be sleeping outside this early in the morning was questionable enough. But leaving the child outside alone and disappearing?
This seemed like something I should tell Dazar about.
As I looked around for the play tutor, Vanilla hurriedly shook her head from side to side.
“No! I’m busy!”
“Vanilla? Come play with us.”
Vanilla stopped for a moment, then alternated her gaze between me, Axion, and the container of toys in my hand.
Her eyes wavered, and her small cheeks turned red.
“Uum……. V-Vanilla is busy.”
Before I could even react, she hurriedly ran away.
How could such a tiny body disappear so quickly?
Even if she was a child, I suppose a transcendent was still a transcendent.
I stared blankly at Vanilla until she quickly became a tiny dot in the distance, then scratched the back of my head and set Axion down on the sand.
“Well, it can’t be helped. Vanilla must have something important to do. Let’s play just the two of us, Axion.”
I handed Axion the small shovel I had made for him and thought about Vanilla whom I had just encountered.
The bold appearance she had shown in front of Dazar before was nowhere to be seen.
Instead, she looked shy and hesitant.
‘What’s going on? For some reason, it’s bothering me.’
I sniffled as I gathered some sand so Axion could easily dig into it with his shovel.
***
The sunlight streaming through the window was dazzling.
Beneath the brilliant rays pouring down, someone was sitting against the windowsill in an utterly carefree posture, as though he intended to enjoy every bit of its warmth.
A man wearing a white shirt carelessly threw over his body.
It was Dazar.
“……Winter must be coming soon.”
His golden eyes gazed at the high, cloudless blue sky before lowering toward the ground.
“What? Where is she going this early in the morning?”
A woman carrying a small baby appeared in his eyes.
She looked tiny because of the distance, but to a transcendent like him, such a distance was insignificant.
“Indeed. I wonder where she’s going?”
Then, a voice came from somewhere inside the room.
There was no surprise on Dazar’s face, indicating that he knew the owner of the sudden voice.
Dazar casually rested his chin on his hand.
His eyes were still fixed on the woman.
He muttered,
“Looks like she intends to play from the morning. Doesn’t she ever get tired?”
“Exactly. It seems she hurriedly went to the viscount’s estate yesterday. Of course, you already knew that.”
The voice spoke as though it were obvious that Dazar knew Cilia had gone to the Evanroar estate. It then let out a quiet chuckle.
“She asked what Ruben was the other day, didn’t she?”
“…….”
Dazar glanced toward the owner of the amused voice before stepping down from the windowsill.
He poured water from the kettle on the table and plopped down onto the sofa.
“How unusual of you to speak. Do you have something to say about ‘her’?”
“Ah, no. Not really. It’s just that, thanks to you diligently reaping lives on the ‘Day of the Rift,’ I’ve got quite an excess of power.”
“That is a particularly unpleasant piece of news.”
At Dazar’s cold response, the owner of the voice merely chuckled, as though accustomed to his reaction.
“Now that the ‘Day of the Rift’ is over, I suppose you’ll be visiting that wretched place again soon?”
“I suppose I should.”
“Ugh, just imagining it is horrible. The Saintess’s holy blessing. I feel like my entire body is going to melt.”
The owner of the voice spoke as though the thought was dreadful, then casually asked,
“Does the Saintess still suspect you?”
At the offhand question, Dazar shrugged. It was a gesture that meant things were still the same.
Accustomed to his half-hearted gesture, the owner of the voice continued.
“Why not just get rid of her? I have a feeling she’s going to become troublesome.”
At the ominous suggestion, Dazar raised an eyebrow. His golden eyes, which had been lazily lowered, turned toward the other side with a hint of irritation.
“You must not leave a blemish in this world. You know that, don’t you?”
“I’m joking, I’m joking. Of course I know. What kind of contract did we make, after all?”
The voice chuckled before continuing.
“But you’re planning to use Ruben again if you can’t find that woman this time, aren’t you? Isn’t that why you kept Ruben by your side?”
At the mention of that woman, Dazar’s eyebrows shot up. Even knowing that he was angry, the voice sounded delighted.
“I’m glad you chose me back then. A transcendent betraying his own kind? How entertaining.”
“I thought you had finally opened your mouth after all this time, but all you’ve said is unrelated to ‘her.’ Why don’t you leave already? Didn’t I tell you not to speak to me unless it concerns ‘her’?”
Dazar waved his hand dismissively.
The owner of the voice grinned.
“I thought what I brought up was related in its own way. But if that’s what you think, I suppose it can’t be helped.”
“Get out.”
“Fine, fine. Still, don’t forget, you filthy transcendent. You’re cursed because you made a contract with me.”
The owner of the voice chuckled and continued.
“I’m curious whether you’ll be able to find her.”
Flap!
The mocking voice faded into the distance along with the sound of wings.
Left alone, Dazar’s expression remained unchanged.
He turned his head with a bored look, toward the window where he had been sitting moments ago.
How long had it been since that bastard last spoke? Other than when he brought Vanilla into the mansion, he had kept his mouth shut all this time…… It had been quite a while since he had spoken.
For her to be interesting enough to capture that bastard’s attention and make him open his mouth.
She must truly be an exceptionally peculiar woman.
Dazar suddenly let out a faint chuckle and muttered,
“What kind of trouble will she get herself into today? What a strange woman.”
