I blinked as I looked at Dazar, who had suddenly appeared beside me out of nowhere.

It might not have shown on the outside, but I was extremely startled. My heart was pounding rapidly.

After calming my startled nerves, I glared at Dazar.

“What are you doing here all of a sudden?”

“What do you mean, what? You took too long, so I came to get you.”

Did he put some kind of barrier on my body?

How did he know where I was……

‘Ah. That kind of thing doesn’t work on me.’

My gaze naturally dropped downward.

I could see Axion sleeping peacefully.

His eyes were slightly red underneath from crying earlier.

‘Did he do something to Axion?’

A wave of displeasure suddenly washed over me.

Had he done something to Axion without even asking for my permission?

“How did you get here?”

“I’ll explain on the way. Let’s get out of here first.”

Dazar, who had been sitting with one leg casually crossed over the other knee, abruptly stood up.

Screech— the chair was pushed roughly backward.

“You’ve just met me again after such a long time. Is there really a need to leave without even saying hello, Dazar?”

Morocanil, who had been sitting calmly across from us, spoke in a relaxed voice.

He hadn’t seemed surprised at all when Dazar appeared, as though he had already known he was coming.

“Using spatial rendering in the capital, where the temple and Imperial Palace are located. What a dangerous thing to do.”

“Why? It’s not prohibited.”

“It is only permitted in emergency situations.”

“Ah, sorry. It was kind of an emergency. The person I live with suddenly went missing, you see.”

Dazar retorted with a sullen expression.

A line appeared across Morocanil’s gentle face.

“The person you live with……?”

Morocanil’s eyes turned toward me.

As though displeased by the way Morocanil was looking at me, Dazar stepped in front of me and said,

“Ah, are you worried that our kind Morocanil might get punished by the temple? Don’t worry. You only realized the space had been torn after I appeared, didn’t you? The others probably haven’t even noticed yet.”

“……You’re still as arrogant as ever.”

“And you’re still as disgustingly fake as ever.”

As I watched the exchange between the two of them, I realized two things.

First, that the divine magic known as spatial rending was prohibited unless it was an emergency. And if they broke that rule, it seemed the temple imposed restrictions on the Transcendents.

Second, Dazar and Morocanil were on very bad terms.

‘Aren’t they both Transcendents……?’

And it seemed they had lived as Transcendents together since their previous lives. Wouldn’t that mean they had an even deeper connection?

I shrugged as I looked back and forth between the two men glaring and growling at each other.

Well, whether they got along or not wasn’t really any of my concern.

I only needed to worry about Axion.

‘First, when we get back, I need to make sure whatever he puts on Axion is removed.’

It was probably some kind of tracking spell.

“Um……”

Just as I opened my mouth, Dazar spoke at the same time.

“You seemed to have caught the wandering bug for a while. What brings you to the capital this time? Are you making something strange again?”

“You used to treat me like a random rock on the street, yet it turns out you’re quite interested in me. I suppose that makes sense.”

Dazar’s eyes narrowed, and Morocanil raised one corner of his mouth. His face, which had until now been filled with nothing but kindness, now carried a faint sneer.

“I’m the only person in this world who knows your secret.”

“……Ha. I suppose the same could be said for you.”

No.

I wasn’t particularly interested in sweet words like a secret shared only between the two of them.

I just wanted to go home.

“Excuse me. Hello. Knock, knock.”

I adjusted Axion in my arms and inserted myself between the two of them.

The eyes of the two men, which had been fixed intensely on each other, turned toward me.

Those eyes are really piercing.

“I understand that you two are close and want to have a little chat, but could you please think about the third person here, too?”

“……”

“……”

At the word close, both men simultaneously frowned, but I pretended not to notice and started walking.

“If you’d like to continue bonding, I’ll go ahead first. See you.”

I quickly grabbed the milk that had been prepared for Axion and left the room. After walking through the grand corridor and exiting the teahouse, Dazar was standing beside me with a sullen expression, as though I hadn’t even noticed when he followed me out.

“Why are you leaving me behind?”

“What am I leaving behind?”

“Me.”

I narrowed my eyes and glared at him.

“Why should I take you with me? Especially when you’re the one who put some strange tracking spell on my child without my permission.”

“……Ah, about that.”

Dazar looked slightly guilty.

I left him behind and started walking. It was getting close to evening, and the air had grown chilly.

Axion might get cold, so I intended to return to the estate first.

“Give him to me.”

Dazar casually reached toward Axion in my arms.

“What?”

“What do you think? You’ve probably been holding him all day. He must be heavy. That Vanilla guy may be small, but he’s apparently heavier than most rocks.”

I looked at his long, beautifully shaped fingers held out toward me, then turned my head with a snort.

“No, thank you. As you probably know, I have arms of iron.”

“Come on.”

Dazar let out a small sigh and lightly snapped his fingers.

Then Axion gently floated up from my arms and softly flew into Dazar’s embrace.

He moved so quietly and smoothly that Axion continued sleeping peacefully.

“Hey……. You just took Axion again without even asking—”

“All right. I get it. I said I got it. I’ll remove it.”

Dazar hurriedly spoke.

“I didn’t put it on him deliberately. If I wanted to hide that thing in his heart, I had no choice.”

I wasn’t sure what that had to do with this. But Dazar looked extremely aggrieved.

“I didn’t expect to run into Morocanil, either. None of them noticed, did they?”

He was talking about Axion’s heart.

Come to think of it…… just as Dazar had said before we came to the temple, no one had seemed to find anything strange about Axion’s heart.

“Yes. They didn’t.”

“But why were you in a teahouse like that with that guy……”

“Ah! Right!”

Oh no.

I stopped in my tracks and stood there.

With the hand that had been freed after handing Axion over, I quickly reached inside my coat. My fingers found the pouch in the inner pocket.

It was the pouch containing Morocanil’s stone.

“I completely forgot because of you.”

“What did I do?”

“So you should give it to him next time. You’ll see him again since you’re both Transcendents, right?”

As I said that and tried to hand over the pouch, Dazar recoiled in horror and took several steps backward.

“No. Absolutely not. I have no intention of ever seeing that guy again.”

“……”

After hurriedly putting some distance between himself and the pouch, he strode quickly ahead of me.

I let out a long sigh as I watched his back.

When am I ever going to return this?

After some time had passed since the two of them disappeared from the teahouse, Morocanil also left.

“I’ll see you next time, Lord Morocanil.”

The waiter assigned exclusively to him came out to see him off.

“Thank you for today as well.”

At Morocanil’s reply, the waiter bowed even deeper, looking deeply moved.

Morocanil left him behind and headed toward a place he hadn’t been able to visit because he had run into Cilia earlier.

Ding.

“Hello.”

“……”

It was the shop right beside the alley where he had encountered Cilia.

The shop Cilia had visited while searching for him—the ‘Give Me Three Seconds and I’ll Poison You to Death’ shop. No matter when he came, the inside of the shop was still just as bizarre.

As though accustomed to receiving no response to his greeting, Morocanil walked briskly with his staff tapping against the floor.

When he reached the counter—

Thud.

Something suddenly poked out from underneath the door on the other side.

Morocanil unfolded the paper with a familiar expression.

—That again?

“Yes. Today as well. Please take care of the remaining reservations too.”

—It’s enough to bore me to death. I thought you might have finally made the next reservation, something interesting for once.

Morocanil laughed pleasantly.

“Please bear with it even if you’re bored. I’m paying you quite generously for it, after all.”

—Hmph. Fine. Now go.

Morocanil unfolded the carelessly dropped note, smiled sweetly, and placed a money pouch on the counter.

The ‘Give Me Three Seconds and I’ll Poison You to Death’ shop was completely booked.

Every reservation had been made by him.

And every single one of those reservations had requested only one thing.

“Then I’ll be going.”

Morocanil picked up the stone placed on the counter and left the shop.

“Where should I leave it today?”

Infusing an object with divine power was an extremely difficult task, but this stone was filled with his power.

That was only possible because the shopkeeper was a dwarf.

“Where should I leave it so that I can find her?”

Holding the stone, Morocanil headed wherever his feet happened to take him. Ever since he began his second life, his days had been filled with only one purpose: finding one particular person.

“I wish she would hurry and come pick up this stone.”

Morocanil murmured softly, a faint smile on his lips.

The reason the other Transcendents thought of him as someone with a strange hobby and a severe case of wanderlust was because of this stone.

A divine spell had been placed on the stone that made people forget who its owner was, and he deliberately went around leaving the stone in various places where people could see it.

It was certainly quite a strange thing to do.

But there was one fact the others did not know.

Somewhere in this world, there was a person who was unaffected by any power belonging to this world.

Only one person.

The very ‘her’ whom Morocanil was searching for.

And he alone knew this fact.

No—more precisely, he alone had come to know it.

Because someone else could no longer remember this fact.

“This time, I’m the one who will stand by her side.”

Morocanil whispered softly.
