After that, the YouTubers kept coming to our clinic for several days. Among them, the most persistent was Minjun TV.

Minjun TV’s channel concept was to go directly to controversial or trending places and people and interview them. If during the interview they got chased out or the interviewer (presumed to be Minjun) was subjected to violence, the video views would skyrocket exponentially.

Conversely, videos where the other party responded to the interview normally or came across as a decent person despite the controversy had low view counts.

No matter how susceptible people are to primal stimulation, it was ironic that the more violent scenes there were, the higher the views went. YouTube is supposed to be a product of civilization, yet the level of human thinking has declined even more than before technological advancement.

Anyway, since views translate into money, I understood why Minjun TV camped out near our clinic. The scenario he wanted was for me to come running out with a broom and beat him up.

Since he had a desired scenario in mind and I was just sitting still inside the clinic, he must have been getting impatient. It wouldn’t have been surprising if he tried a different approach at any moment. People with agendas will do anything to get what they want.

I wasn’t worried about myself, but I was concerned about Nam Jungyoon and Kim Miyoung. Since Minjun TV couldn’t get inside the clinic, they were safe during work hours, but I couldn’t guarantee their safety when commuting.

In this situation, it was safer to have them commute together. Two people are safer than one. In particular, Kim Miyoung, a middle-aged woman, would have a hard time confronting Minjun TV.

“I think you should keep going with Pureum for a while too, Director.”

“Or you could leave work with us, sunbae.”

“That won’t work because of night consultations. The clinic is too busy right now to skip night hours.”

Recently, we had gathered enough evidence and reported all the YouTubers, including Minjun TV, to the police. Several of them were put before the law, and we had no intention of settling.

But Minjun TV, having been through this kind of thing quite a few times, quickly regained his freedom. Rather, after being sued once, he seemed to be watching our clinic even more intently, his eyes burning with determination.

We were already swamped with work, and having such a tenacious pest attached was truly a headache. I gained nothing from it, so why was he clinging on so desperately—I felt like I wanted to interview him in return.

“I thought things would calm down a bit once the drama bubble burst, but that guy just won’t give up.”

“In a way, you have to admire his persistence.”

“That’s probably why he’s running that kind of YouTube channel in the first place.”

“If he put that persistence into something else, he’d succeed at anything.”

“Just leave him. He probably wants attention, even if it’s like this.”

How could I possibly understand the complex minds of modern people?

Humans are truly complicated creatures. Honestly, I don’t really get why Minjun TV lives like that either. But some people must be starved for someone’s attention, even if it’s in this way.

If he were a million-subscriber YouTuber like Kim Minah, that would be one thing, but Minjun TV had few subscribers. The revenue he earned from views probably wasn’t much either. Ads wouldn’t come easily to a channel like that.

Yet he still burned himself up running his YouTube channel—there must be a reason, right?

Thinking about it that way, it was almost pitiful. He could have gotten attention in a better way, yet he chose a method that brought harm to himself as well.

“Sunbae, you’re not sympathizing with those types, are you?”

“I do think it’s a bit pitiful to be that desperate for others’ attention.”

“I watched his channel videos—he had people buy a ton of our clinic’s Gongjindan. He posted something under a title like ‘Alpha Unboxing?'”

“You don’t think he’s obsessed with our clinic because he actually wants to become an alpha, do you?”

“Come on, no way. He’s just doing it to stir up controversy.”

Either way, Minjun TV was causing significant harm to our clinic. Other YouTubers at least paid their fines and left, but this guy seemed to have decided to stick around as much as he paid in fines.

Although he was attached to a business rather than an individual, he was still a clear stalker, yet punishing him wasn’t easy. Our country’s laws are just too lenient.

“Look, Pureum’s here right on time.”

Lately, Jung Pureum had been visiting the clinic an hour or two early. I knew his class schedule from before, and originally he absolutely couldn’t come at this time.

Whether it was because the physical education department was practice-oriented, Jung Pureum seemed to coolly ignore his fixed schedule. Well, since he’d already become a national representative, he probably had nothing to fear.

I’d prodded him a few times to make sure he wasn’t slacking on training, and he said he’d adjusted his schedule with early morning practice. Apparently, he’d vaguely told his coach that he wanted to practice privately.

If he were being negligent in training, the coach wouldn’t have let him get away with it, so I trusted that he was working hard.

Even after his pheromone instability issue was resolved, the coach periodically kept Jung Pureum on a tight leash. According to occasional tidbits from Jung Saebom or the lady next door, Jung Pureum had become even more sensitive since becoming a national representative.

Well, since his charge had become a national representative, the coach would want to manage him more seriously. If lucky, he might even become the coach of a gold medalist.

But no matter how much I tried to think positively, I didn’t like that coach. Even knowing that my dislike wouldn’t change anything, I still felt that way.

“I’ve heard a few things about that swimming coach at the physical education department too.”

“You really have a wide network….”

“That’s pretty normal. Well, that coach is quite infamous too.”

Lee Seolwoo, who attended the same university as Jung Pureum, had told me various things about that coach. I knew that if I grilled Jung Pureum, he’d only say everything was fine, so I hadn’t asked him multiple times.

Lee Seolwoo surprisingly knew a lot. I’d asked him on a whim, thinking it couldn’t hurt, and he seemed to know about every incident and accident on campus.

From what I heard, he’d been a school representative model for all three years since admission. Whether because of his idol-like looks, Lee Seolwoo knew many people across departments and colleges.

He laughed, saying he also knew a ton of people in the physical education department, and I, who had been a loner throughout college, got a slight chill. This guy was the real deal—a true extrovert….

I hadn’t actually seen the coach in person, but from what I’d heard, the coach spoke rather harshly. He was strict about athletes’ records and management but apparently couldn’t keep his own mouth in check.

When I heard he’d even received warnings for verbal abuse, I felt even more uneasy. I couldn’t believe that such a person had been teaching Jung Pureum for years. What on earth could you learn from a bastard like that….

“Huh? What’s he doing?”

At that moment, Nam Jungyoon’s startled voice broke my thoughts. I quickly lifted my head and looked outside the clinic door. The entrance had glass doors, so through the transparent windows, I could clearly see outside.

Through the glass, I saw Minjun TV lunging at Jung Pureum. I was so shocked I jumped up from my seat. And Minjun TV wasn’t even empty-handed.

“What the hell is that bastard holding in his hand?”

“Call the police immediately.”

“Director, sit back down. You can’t go out right now.”

I couldn’t obediently follow Kim Miyoung’s instruction to sit back down. I couldn’t see clearly, but Minjun TV was swinging something at Jung Pureum.

Thanks to his excellent visual acuity and agility, Jung Pureum was dodging well without taking a single hit, but it was still dangerous. If that was a blade rather than just a blunt object, it would be truly dangerous.

Moreover, Jung Pureum was currently a national representative. He was supposed to enter the training camp soon! How could a body meant to bring glory to the country be harmed by an attention-seeking YouTuber? That bastard wasn’t going to serve in the military in Jung Pureum’s place!

While Kim Miyoung held me back, Nam Jungyoon quickly reported the situation to the police.

It seemed that Minjun TV bore a personal grudge against Jung Pureum, who came and went from the clinic saying, “You can’t do this here,” rather than against the clinic staff who had consistently ignored him.

In fact, calling it a “grudge” was laughable. In the end, he had attacked just because he didn’t like him. “Out of his mind” was a more fitting description.

Thanks to the previous lawsuit with the YouTuber, the police arrived faster than expected. But before they came, Jung Pureum had already subdued Minjun TV.

“Pureum!”

As soon as the police arrived, I left Kim Miyoung and ran to Jung Pureum. Jung Pureum, who had been pinning Minjun TV to the ground, lifted his head and checked on me.

“Are you okay, hyung?”

“I’m fine. That crazy bastard attacked you. Are you hurt anywhere? You absolutely cannot get hurt.”

“Fuck. So that’s why you came every day… You bastard, you’re not a patient—you’re a clinic staff member after all, aren’t you?”

“….”

“I know, you know. I looked you up! You’re that guy. J, the one who went from beta to alpha?”

“…Let’s hand this bastard over to the police quickly.”

“Hold on.”

While pretending to restrain him, Jung Pureum quickly punched the guy in the solar plexus. His strength was so formidable that Minjun TV, who had been blabbering just moments ago, fell silent instantly.

“I would have preferred to avoid violence if possible….”

A rubber hammer was rolling at Minjun TV’s feet. That must have been what he was holding and threatening with earlier. Less threatening than a steel hammer, but still attempted murder.

The police collected both Minjun TV and the rubber hammer. When I argued that this was clearly attempted murder and demanded strict punishment, an older police officer opened his mouth with a troubled tone.

“Because that person subdued him rather excessively, it’ll probably end up as something like assault.”

“Excuse me?”

“The scope for self-defense is quite narrow. And from what I can see, the victim isn’t seriously injured either….”

“….”

“And besides, isn’t that person an alpha? A beta attacking an alpha—that’s hardly attempted murder.”

What the hell is this nonsense?

I felt like fire was layering upon fire within me, turning into flames.

Was it a hallucination that I heard the sound of the people’s staff breaking? That bastard was trying to kill me with a fit of anger, and they say this isn’t attempted murder! The world is so unjust.
