The Tyrant Won’t Let Me Go Chapter 104
Ciel let go of her hand and stepped back to allow the medical staff to conduct their examination comfortably.
As I watched her being examined, I leaned closer to Cedric and whispered softly.
“Your Majesty, what should we do…”
Cedric bit his lip and replied in a worried tone.
“I know. It’s a tough decision.”
“But we should still tell her about Sir Flithia’s condition, right?”
“Yes. We have to tell her. But we should wait until the Princess is a bit more stable.”
He turned his gaze away from Persephine as he spoke.
“Finding out that the person who tried to protect her ended up like that would be too much of a shock.”
I fell silent at Cedric’s words.
Then, I clenched my teeth as I looked at the small figure lying on the bed. Even I, who knew that Felix was confined in the deepest underground prison of the palace, bound and restrained, couldn’t immediately answer Persephine’s question.
It was Cedric who broke the deathly silence.
“Princess, you’ve just woken up, so let’s focus on checking your condition first.”
Cedric leaned slightly forward, looking at Persephone as he spoke.
“You’ve been asleep for quite a while, so you’ll need a thorough examination. Let’s take care of your body first, have a meal, and then we can talk.”
“How… how long was I asleep?”
“About a week.”
Persephone nodded, understanding.
As I watched her being examined, I leaned closer to Cedric and whispered softly.

Cedric bit his lip and replied in a worried tone.

Time passed, and it was now the evening of the next day.
“Your Majesty, you’ve been to see Sir Flithia, right?”
I asked Cedric, who was holding my hands in his.
His crimson eyes, illuminated by the candlelight, flickered slowly. It looked as if a small flame was burning within his eyes.
“Yes. Sir Flithia kept his head down, so he probably didn’t see my face.”
“How is he doing?”
“He looked a bit gaunt, but the medical staff said he’s physically fine.”
Cedric looked at me as he spoke, “Being locked up in prison might have left him a bit mentally unstable, though.”
After Persephine’s maid attacked Cedric, Felix, who had also collapsed, was treated by the medical staff and regained consciousness.
Under normal circumstances, he should have been executed immediately for attempting to assassinate the Emperor.
But since we needed information, his punishment was limited to imprisonment. He obediently remained in prison and answered the interrogators’ questions honestly, even without the use of truth serum.
The only thing he cared about was Persephine’s safety.
“When he heard the news today, it seemed like he was crying a little.”
The news that Persephine had woken up safely and was in good health had also reached Felix.
Though I hadn’t seen Felix’s reaction myself, I could imagine it to some extent.
“It’s understandable. He started all this to save the Princess, after all.”
The investigation into the recent attack revealed that the mastermind behind all the assassination attempts on Cedric and me was Jayden Ackeleta, the King of Ackeleta.
A review of the communication gem found in Persephone’s clothing revealed messages from Jayden ordering her to assassinate Cedric.
Traces of communication with Ackeleta through black mana were also found on the deceased maid, and a notebook hidden in her room contained orders from the King of Ackeleta.
Based on all this evidence, the investigation concluded that after Persephone failed to assassinate Cedric and attempted to take her own life, the maid informed Ackeleta, and Jayden Ackeleta then ordered Felix to assassinate Cedric in her place.
‘He said the Princess was cursed. He told me that if I didn’t stab Your Majesty with the sword, he would intensify the curse and kill the Princess.’
Felix explained his reasons for following Jayden Ackeleta’s orders like this.
At first, he said he couldn’t believe that the Ackeleta royal family, his own flesh and blood, had done such a thing to their princess.
However, after continuous threats from the king, he became terrified that Persephine might actually die, and in the end, he decided to obey the king’s orders.
To prevent hesitation from leading to a failed assassination, he even accepted self-hypnosis as per the king’s command.
“Then all that’s left is to meet the princess tonight and have a conversation.”
At this, Cedric nodded and rested his head on my shoulder.
“You’ve just recovered, and there’s already so much to worry about.”
His expression was a mix of regret and concern.
“Oh, it’s nothing. This is nothing at all.”
I laughed and assured him it was fine, but Cedric couldn’t shake the dark look on his face.
“No, even just lying still would be exhausting, but you’re constantly moving around dealing with Ackeleta’s issues without any rest.”
“Your Majesty is in the same boat.”
“At least I didn’t spend several days alone in a prison.”
Cedric retorted in a dissatisfied tone.
“I wanted to let you rest a bit…”
His voice was filled with regret. It seemed he had been thinking this after seeing how busy I’d been with Ackeleta’s affairs right after leaving the prison.
“I’ve been resting in between. I even have time to hold hands with you like this…”
“Only for a little while in the evening.”
Cedric complained, “Honestly, even that’s too short. Considering the time we couldn’t touch while you were in prison, even a whole week of holding you wouldn’t be enough.”
“Oh, it’s not that bad. It wasn’t even a full week in prison.”
“But it was almost a week. And right after using a lightning strike, we need to be in close contact for a long time, but we couldn’t do that this time.”
His crimson eyes sparkled under the candlelight.
Those eyes, fixed solely on me, retained their beautiful, transparent hue.
“So anyway, once all this is over, let’s spend a whole week holding each other and doing nothing.”
Cedric said with a playful smile, lifting the corner of his mouth.
I burst out laughing at his words and pretended to be serious as I agreed.
“A whole week of holding each other? What about everyone else’s eyes?”
“We’ll just lock the bedroom door and stay alone for a week.”
“…Do we really have to lock the door?”
“Otherwise, you’ll run away.”
Then he wrapped his strong arms around my waist and pulled me into his embrace.
“I’ll keep holding you like this so you can’t go anywhere.”
“I’m not the type to just sit still and let that happen, though.”
“Well, it won’t matter.”
Cedric chuckled as he spoke, “No matter what happens, I’ll never let you go.”
Seeing his radiant smile, my chest ached for some reason. Normally, I would have squirmed to escape his grasp, but today I didn’t.
Instead, I wrapped my arms around him and hugged him back.
“Alright. I’d like that.”
Just as he wanted to protect me, I wanted to protect him, too.
I wanted to preserve this warmth I felt in his embrace.
“I won’t let you go either, Your Majesty.”
