‘Amusing…’

Ever since the day Kassar took a liking to the gold digger, I made fun of him by pretending like I was crazy.

I had gotten a taste for making fun of him.

At first, I purposely went out of my way to tease him, thinking that he deserved it, but then I realized that I was innocently enjoying it.

At first, I was in denial, saying, ‘There’s no way I’d do that to Kassar!’ But after less than a minute, I admitted it.

It’s been a while since I’ve had an opponent that made me feel this excited.

“Please get lost!”

Truly, Kassar was the perfect person to fulfill my needs.

He’s a hot-tempered man, so even the slightest touch offends him, and he’s not immune to this, so his reactions are refreshingly different, even as big as his body.

Moreover, as a human being who didn’t have to look good, I didn’t have to keep up appearances, so it was like a punching bag made for a human being like me.

And I took full advantage of that punching bag.

“You tell me to get lost, but you can’t take your eyes off me. You say you don’t like me, but you’re honest with your body.”

“Please don’t say that crap. I’m going to go crazy!”

“Oh my gosh, am I pretty enough to make you crazy?”

“Stop trying to be pretty!”

“I wasn’t trying to be pretty…”

“What?”

I cupped my cheeks with both hands and blinked adoringly.

“Dahlia was born pretty, teehee~”

“Get out!”

I giggled at the sight of him shivering again, and turned on my heel.

Now, I couldn’t go through the day without giving him my ‘one Kassar a day’. At the same time, I realized something new.

‘I am my mother’s daughter.’

Honestly, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t envy her for having someone like my father for a pet and having someone like him to tease her all her life.

I’ve never been able to find someone like that since I separated from Rudrick.

I was still able to have some fun with Jeron when I found out about his dark history and made fun of him, but he was getting tired of it, and I was getting bored with his reactions.

At first, it annoyed me, but now I realize how lucky I am that he’s like that.

It’s a good thing Kassar’s that way because then I could enjoy it.

‘What can I tease him with tomorrow?’

I was walking down the hall, trying to think of an effective way to get Kassar to pick on me, which had become my goal for the day.

I heard a voice up ahead calling out to me.

“Hey, Princess!”

It was Cecil and her fellow maids.

Yes, the second reason I’d been feeling so good lately. The servants were no longer avoiding me.

“I saw the knight over there, and I thought he was being snarky with the princess again.”

“It’s okay, it happens every day.”

“Every day? Oh, no, Princess, you must be so tired.”

“What can I do? How could I, when he’s dying for me?”

“Oh my!”

And that’s not all, because it’s now quite natural to talk to them.

I have Kassar to thank for this, or should I say gratitude.

The rumors that started simply as ‘his shirt burst because his breasts were so big’ it grew in size by the day, until…

‘The commander of the 1st Division has a crush on the Princess!’

… and it spread like wildfire.

At first, I panicked because I didn’t realize how far it would go, but in hindsight, that’s probably a good thing.

After all, people started flocking to my side.

The center of the rumor, Kassar and I, were the stars of the show, and people who were curious about the truth behind the story gradually approached me. I was better than the terrifying Kassar.

I took advantage of the opportunity and spoke to them.

“But I don’t like guys who try to get attention like that just because they like me.”

“You’re right, he does seem a bit out of character… I didn’t expect him to be like that.”

“You know, I thought he had a nasty personality, but he has that side too, so I guess that’s why he seems a little different from before…”

“I think he seems a little less scary than before, too.”

Now, they were able to have a casual conversation like this.

“Honestly, I think you’re much better than that.”

“Really?”

“Of course, as long as he speaks kindly to us first.”

“Is that all, our Princess is kind, she is sweet, she has a good heart, she has wonderful lectures, she has everything…”

“Oh, Cecil, do you mean to say that you need a matching bracelet because of all the waving of your right hand?”

“Oh, my princess, it’s nothing like that!”

“Hohoh, okay, okay, my darlings. We can go shopping together later…”

Just like in Averine, I thought, as I chatted excitedly with the maids.

If we keep this up, maybe the stiff dukedom would soften, and maybe Rudrick would finally warm up to the idea of living in the same house.

No, I hope so, I said, my face brightening.

“Then I must go now—”

“Oh, by the way, Princess, there is something I must tell you before—”

But the words were cut short by one of the maids, who looked as if she had thought of something to say after thinking about it.

Clearly, in a hurry, she apologized and got straight to the point.

“I’m sorry, actually, the Head Maid was looking for you a little while ago.”

“The Head Maid wanted me? Why?”

At my puzzled question, the maid went still and shook her head. Then she added something that seemed suspicious.

“I don’t know, but he said there was something she wanted to tell you, and if we happen to see the Princess, she wanted me to tell you…”
